UK Lads - November 17th to 22nd

Better late than never I guess! Appologies for my lack of posting but since we got back I've had loads of business issues to sort out - resulting in closing it down!!! (not related to the Vegas trip though)!!

Wake up and meet up with the other guys. Get a cab to Gatwick, and then hang around the airport for our first flight. We board our NWA flight and depart to Detroit. I decide to not drink on the plane, while i watch my buds get hammered on wine!

After a long flight we swap over at Detroit and get on a jet to Las Vegas. Nice flight, but feels really long, we just want to land in Vegas.

Night One
We land and get a cab to The Luxor. We check-in and just crash on our beds. We go and get a Little Ceasar's Pizza. It's about midnight Vegas time. I am shattered and go to bed.

My friends go down to the lounge to chill with a drink. They bump into some Texans and start having a drinking contest!! Cut to 4am and they come in and decide to bundle me in my room. Great Friends!

Day Two
6.30am and I cant sleep so I go and play the slots. A couple of friends join me and we go for the all you can eat breakfast buffet. We decide to scope out some blackjack and play the slots again. (addictive)

Three of us walk down the strip to Harrah's and Carnival Court. We all buy these big green plastic cup things, and ask the bar man to fill it with anything. He gives us massive measures of vodka, gin, whiskey, rum, and some fruit juices. These slay us.

We walk down the strip back to luxor smashed out of our heads. We put on some suits and then get in a cab for my birthday meal. Everywhere is booked so we end up in Harrah's restaurant, it sucks, i feel sick. We leave, and get a cab to scores.

When at Scores we are swarmed by loads of ladies (we're wearing top notch suits so look like we're "money"). We stupidly buy a bottle for the table, $250 dollars!!!! It's a tiny bottle. We get led upstairs to the exclusive room where its $1000 an hour, we talk our way out of it and go to the "cheap" room and have some dances. It's brilliant. Most of us leave but my friend stays. We get a cab to the Hard Rock, stay for a bit, then go to Luxor and into Ra. I get my head down at 3ish.

Day Three
It's about 5am and my friend who stayed at Scores bursts in, completely drunk. Apparently he'd maxxed out his credit card so had no more money and couldnt get back to luxor. He explained this to the guy at Scores who kindly lets him use the "house Sedan" and they drive him home for free, fair i guess as he spent loads of dollars there.

Then at 11am another friend shows up, smoking a big cigar, and soaking wet!!! It turns out he bumped into some UK guys on a stag night and went off with them, randomly. He got thrown in a pool near the Stratosphere and walked for about 2 hours back to the luxor, wet and disorientated. He crashes on our bed.

I enter a poker tournament and get quite far. I go all in with a pair of aces, someone calls me and goes in with king queen off suit. He gets a king on the flop, then a damn queen on the river!! This totally destroys me, so i go and get acquainted with Jack Daniels at the bar.

We decide to spend the evening listening to the band called Crush in the luxor lounge. After getting incredibly lashed we grab a cab to The Beach. This place is a bit like a club in England, nothing flashy, but really cool music. We dance away to Bon Jovi and Papa roach. We then decide to go to Club Rio for some hip hop. Here my friend meets an American girl, ends up going off with her and spending the night on a Military Base in a cat blanket!! We meet him the next day.... My 2 friends go to Caesar's and play Spot The Hooker in one of the early morning bars. I hit the hay at 4ish.

Day Four
We go and check out the stratosphere - and go on all the rides. That is quite a rush!! It helped wake me up a bit - we do a bit of gambling too. I'm hooked on blackjack. On the way to it we check out various casinos, enjoy the waterfalls, and get heckled for all wearing matching Top gun T-shirts and aviator sun shades.

Everyone is running out of steam by the evening. Another friend has got friendly with an American lady - so we decide to meet her at 9 Fine Irish Men for a few drinks. I drink a few too many, and we're all drunk again. We decide to go to Coyote Ugly and spend the evening there.

Day Five
Everyone is in bed ill - we order Little Caesars and watch tv in bed all day. I manage to get out once for some gift shopping, and check out the Shark Reef at Mandalay Bay - awesome aquarium. We all go to sleep at about 8pm and sleep all the way through to 9am the next day. We leave at 10am to get a flight home!

Brilliant stuff!!!!

The sad thing is, due to what everyone was doing, and not discovering internet cafes until its too late, we didnt get to hook up with Jo Schmo who posts on these boards. Maybe next time!

There is more, but i cant remember anything else at the moment. It's been a long 3 months just wishing we were back there again. We're gonna go again in October.

 

Sorry it's been a rough road since then, but what a great trip!! I completely *love* the story about the guy ending up thrown into a pool and wandering around wet. Only in Vegas!!

I just want to say that that's just about the coolest thing I've ever read. The fact that he's soaking wet, far from home, and still takes the time to fire up a stogie... Only in Vegas...

Great report and pics, Dave! Too bad we couldn't meet up, but I'll definitely make it out in October.
