Request POOL, save up to 50%

Meet uberPOOL - our new carpooling option and the most affordable way to Uber around Las Vegas.

Starting tomorrow at 12 PM, uberPOOL will connect you with people traveling along your route so you can share your ride and share the cost—making your fare up to 50% less than uberX. You can request uberPOOL trips throughout the entire Las Vegas Valley.

Uber is so cheap already. Do you really need to save a little more - and share the cab with others?

I for one don't think Uber is cheap -- perhaps it's because I'm coming to Vegas with Canadian dollars so everything seems even more expensive; but even if I got US dollars at par I'd still think it was expensive. So I certainly welcome the arrival of this feature.

It's cheap compared to cabs, and it's not even close. I use Uber Pool here in San Francisco and a ride that would be $35 in a cab is under $10 on Pool. Even with a tip you're still saving over 50%.

I generally wouldn't wait forever for an Uber if a cab is available in Vegas because I consider my Vegas time precious and my trips are fairly short there anyway, but if you go any distance (say strip to downtown) you'll save a lot.

i agrree with my rides costing under 10$ i wont use it or lyft line. not worth the time or drunk idiots i might get, but just posted as the launched it to compete with lyft

Seems like the airport to your hotel Pool possibility could be the best usage for most people. I would definitely try it but wouldn't want to be squeezed into a car with multiple others. Hopefully there is a max number of riders per trip.

Have used this a couple of times at home for longer rides when we aren't in any particular hurry. Nice to save $15-20 on what would have been a $30-40 ride.

But this is not at all ideal for Vegas (assuming you don't live in town, off-Strip). On the Strip, where it often takes awhile to go a relatively short distance, you could easily double your travel time to save $5 or less. Not at all worth it for visitors whose time is limited. Unless you are going to a destination that is fairly far from main hotel areas, I would skip this. Don't use it to go from one Strip prop to another, or between the Strip and downtown.

I haven't dug into uber pool...looking at lyft line when I visit next week. Similar concept with actual ride sharing passengers but I thought it was for passengers starting and ending at the same destinations, ie. start at say MGM and going to Fremont, not with one group to Fremont with another going to Stratopshere or something like that along the way. Cheaper fares just because of the actual sharing of a ride plus lyft line is offering up to 50% discounts for the next week just to launch the service. And you get the same discount whether they can pair you up with another passenger or not. Either way, I'll try it to see how it goes next week.

I used lyft line last night (very similar to uber pool). I just select line vs lyft vs suv. The idea is to share the ride which in vegas, seems to be a town where you could have several people going to the same destination but in reality, they're not, at least in that specific moment in time. There's no extra waiting around until you get matched up with another rider.

So I've used line and didn't have to share the ride but still paid an even lower amount. Venetian to the rio was $5 only because that's the minimum charge. I think there is a promo on the service this week though as they just launched it so it may be a few dollars more next week. With a new rider promo, it was a completely free ride except for the tip I gave at the end.

There is a max passenger of 2 riders so if you do get matched up, I suppose it could have 4 total passengers.

With the probability of actually sharing a ride pretty low, why not just select line and pay a few dollars more. It's the exact same process as before. Maybe that will change as time goes on though but his week, I'm lovin it.

The main point I wanted to stress here is that there's no extra waiting to find a matching ride. It's as quick and seamless as before. I've taken lyft line rides all week. Forgot to select line on my first ride from the airport but other than that, all of my rides on the strip or to Rio have been max 5 dollars, the minimum charge excluding tips.

Quick update. Another lyft line ride from venetian to t mobile arena and back. Both was 5 dollars each way, the minimum charge excluding tips. Again with the new rider promo, the first 5 dollars was covered by lyft so I only paid the tips.

The one driver said after picking me up from nyny that if she got a other line request, she may need to stop. She made it sound like she may need to stop anywhere from nyny and venetian, my destination. Given we ended on the highway due to the road closures for the NHL team announcement even she said she wouldn't get another line request. So 5 dollars from nyny to venetian at the lyft line rates plus tip.

I'm now a fan.
