There’s been 2 cancelled trips already, a third will be this September and honestly I’m beginning to believe it won’t happen… again.

I’ve capped the gaming budget already, on an amount that’s a bit below the threshold to notify customs and (for me!) had no point in raising, no matter how many cancelled trips will follow.

Fair play to the interviewer getting his point across and using the death of his father to push that point home, unfortunately like all answers from politicians we really didn't get an answer as he basically towed the line and wasn't going to give anymore information out than he needed to.

No, but it's the first time in over 6 months I've seen anyone really ask, nevermind put pressure on the interviewee.

Excellent from the British guy and well put but sadly the US government official indicated that the 4 bodies discussing international travel in the USA will continue to sit on their thumbs and suggesting it’s not for them to sort out.

Unfortunately I think the most risk is inside the country. Wish they'd let you in. Also billions of visitor dollars being lost.
Trying to run things by committee doesn't usually go too well.

It's incredibly fustrating that Biden doesn't appear to have the balls to act on this.

What exactly have the 'joint USA/UK taskforce' been doing since the G7?

Have a 2.5 week holiday booked to SF & LV on the 10th August. So he needs to get his finger out!

No reason now for not letting fully vaccinated Brits in! Imo

As frustrating as it is, I'll say the same thing I said last time.

Why would he, when we're not acting on it our side?

I've already cancelled 4 trips, but we're as much to blame as he is, imo.

But what for Europe then? I mean, Americans are welcome here if they’re vaccinated. Thing is, there is no clarity whatsoever. No date. Nothing. That’s frustrating. Will it be this year? Next year? 2028?

Many people worse off than us, who just aren't getting to go on holiday, so I just try to keep some perspective, and find that helps me, at least.

I think it's quite going to be the same for Europe/UK, so when they open to one, they'll open to the other.

    LOL @ 2028.

I felt fortunate I/we were able to fly to England in May. It wasn’t easy nor cheap. No one (Government) cared that I/we were fully vaccinated. They only cared about a negative COVID-19 test was provided within each countries time frame. I took 8 COVID tests in 14 days which cost me (& my SO) about $700. We ended up spending the night in Detroit due to the Netherlands not accepting our COVID-19 test as it was 12 hours too old. Once we arrived in the England we were required to quarantine for 10 days and take a day 2 & day 8 COVID test. Which had to be pre-booked prior to leaving for the UK. Also NHS representatives checked on us twice to ensure compliance with the mandatory quarantine. Fun times.:peace:

I hope everything opens sooner than later for sure!

Yeah, thats what is going away for vaccinated citizens as of Monday, and should be for all, too.

Grant and Pete heading things up doesn't inspire too much confidence, when you see them being interviewed.

You were lucky you were only checked on twice. I came back from Spain to the UK in February and had a call every single day and twice some days.

I'm going to ask nicely for people to leave their political opinions out of this discussion. It is absolutely fine to discuss the regulations and the restrictions. Share articles about what the governments on each side are doing, but your opinion about what they are doing and how they are doing it is going to get into the gray area of our No Politics rule and could end up getting this thread closed to further comments. Thanks in advance for your attempts at some restraint. :)

I get it. It's frustrating. Clear communication and a clear set out schedule and plan would be wonderful. It would also be wonderful to have gotten everyone to go along with mask mandates and social distancing and getting vaccinated, but we all know why we can't have nice things.

This is way beyond annoying now. Since June onwards I think the border should have been well and truly open to us pond hoppers, it’s still going to cost us lot with an average 3x PCR tests per person on top of inflated flight prices before we get near handing over $$$$
