Pretty sure that was said at the outset, when they announced the opening in November.

Yeah that's where I got that from, I have just come back from Majorca and it's pretty straightforward. Only difference with US is the test before you go.

Today could be judgment day - ie the day we finally find out an exact date. Apparently the US are announcing the land border reopening dates today and are expected (but unconfirmed) that they'll announce international travel dates as well.

Press briefings at 11am EST/4pm BST and 1pm EST/6pm BST on the White House YouTube channel.

Would be nice, and they did say they'd announce them all at once, iirc.

Might treat myself to a Nandos and watch it later :D

November 8th it is, with 99% certainty as per various news outlets, to be confirmed later today.

Well in time for my December trip. But feeling sorry for those who planned on November 1st-8th…

This is great news if it is confirmed and means that the conversation now moves from 'Can we go?' to 'Do we still want to go?' which in many ways is a much harder one to answer for a variety of reasons.

It really isn’t for me. I’m going. Whatever mask, testing or other mandate MAY be in place.

I guess it depends on the reasons that you choose Vegas over other destinations and the length of time that you go for. If everything was back to 'normal' apart from mask mandates then that is one thing, but my current understanding is that show offerings are limited/reduced, nightclubs are limited/reduced/closed, food options are limited/reduced - hell, even poker offerings are reduced with rooms closed and maybe even the Flamingo room not reopening - shock/horror!!!

I'm booked and ready to go on Nov 21st for 3 weeks, but I have a list or pros/cons drawn up and even though I love Vegas and am absolutely gagging for a trip, it is pretty finely balanced at the moment

It is personal no doubt, but I can have fun in Vegas the way it is now - mainly a slots/VP player so that’s not a issue, and literally every place I wanted to go to for a meal is open.

This board is genius in that it gives me an idea of how Vegas is right now, even if I’m not there right now.

In terms of Covid, I'm double vaccinated and case rates per 100,000 population are way less in Nevada than they are in my part of the UK.

I've been very cautious in the last 18 months but feel confident... And given the numbers, grateful that the US is letting in us limeys! :D

So I'd booked for the 7th in Premium Economy. Flights on the 8th were silly money so I gave in and got a travel voucher to use with the missus.

But screw not going to Vegas for the WSOP, found a cheap flight out of Dublin through United so I'm still coming, just a day later!

The other half says she can get a few days extra off work so still trying for the 8th having been dumped on the 4th - prices are beyond stupid and I have been on the phone to Virgin currently for 3 hours and counting hoping that they will transfer my bookings to be able to go - probably a stop over somewhere at the rate seats are disappearing - we will see

Well, I’m happy for all of you able to go soon.
Our flights were 2 Oct for 6 weeks, so we’re cancelled a while ago. We are looking at April/ May now.

The flight cancellations did me a favour in one way. My dad was recently diagnosed with aggressive prostate cancer, so I probably would have needed to cancel anyway. He’s doing ok, and his Alzheimer’s has him taking the extra attention and appointments as just catching up after covid. We have no idea what to expect in the short term, but I’m here for him now instead of being on my holidays.
