Two Weeks in Paradise - 9/5 - 9/18

When the time comes, I must (politely) insist that you show us photos of that penthouse! There are almost no photos of it to be found online. Congratulations, and hope you're having a good trip

 

Thank you, @bruceb and @eliza will not be staying on property so will make sure to stop by the Rewards desk on the day of reservation. I also have a spa appointment that day so will ensure they load that credit as well.

It’s only day two of working from Vegas and I need a nap. That 5:45 wake up call is way too early. Took a break and lost $70 slotting my way over to lunch at Brera. AKA: The other Italian place in "St. Mark’s Square" with a prix fixe lunch option. $38 for three courses and a $25 wine pairing. I’m in. We’ll see how it compares to yesterday’s lunch at Mercato de Pescheria across the way.

 

The Brazilian fast service place in the food court opened since my last visit - they have some açaí bowls for breakfast that seemed reasonably priced. Halo halo next door seemed more interesting to me. $5 chicken empanadas seem like a good snack option.

 

This is so good. But portion sizes are huge again.

Pinot Grigio - I thought this was a double pour but no, it was glass 1 of 2.

Fritto Misto - large enough to share four ways easily.


Gnocchi - this was so amazingly good. Only managed to eat half - but somehow managed to get through all the burrata. Nom.

 

I will be at the Vue Bar this Sunday. If you see a guy in Detroit Lions gear, say hello. I cant imagine there would be any other schmucks in lions gear.

Yesterday's meal was good - but Brera is a definite step or two up and well worth the extra cost if you ask me.

 

One last shot at the slot tournie. I managed to come in dead last in my heat yesterday. Ooopies. Good thing each day is a new tournament.

Excellent report thus far. Did you need a reservation for your lunch at Brera?

 

No reservations needed. Maybe on a busy weekend, but I went at 11:30 and was their first table for the day - they open at 11. A few other tables joined while I was dining but it never got busy. Same thing at Mercato yesterday.

 

Wait! You didn’t tell us about the show at the table next to you at dinner!!

 

just the hibachi show. Although I ended up sharing my table with a couple. I’m 75% sure she was a paid date.

 

I def had a $18 chicken sandwich at the food court there. No sides, no drink, just the chicken sandwich!

 

Finished up work right around 3PM and popped over to Rum Runners for their play $100, get $20 FP promo. Hit one set of quads and finished up $16.25.

 

Then met up with @bruceb at Panevino for happy hour. Really great spot with a view out over McCarran to the strip.

This is a great spot - especially at happy hour prices. And had a great chat with @bruceb - VMBers are so awesome!

 

Checked into my Planet Hollywood room. Staying here tomorrow night but wanted to guarantee room early to facilitate a smooth working day tomorrow. This room is MUCH nicer than I expected. But it’s quite a hike back to the parking lot.

Bathroom has a soaking tub and separate shower stall.


Bedroom has nice sitting area and desk.


Hard to get a picture of view with all the glare, but I look out over Paris.

Well. I meant to go back down and gamble some more, but I went up to drop some stuff off in my room and I’m clearly not going anywhere. I don’t do Vegas nearly as hard as some do (I get tired just reading some reports), but I still always manage to push too hard too early in long trips and end up regretting it later. So, I’m trying to be good. I’m going to enjoy a night cap, a soak in the tub, and start a new book on my kindle.

Tomorrow’s plans: work, pack up and move to Planet Hollywood, and the highlight of my trip - dinner at é by Jose Andres. I’m stoked.

 

You are going to love yourself when you are at work at 6 am after a relaxing night in your room.
