Hey, it was great to me you and hopefully we meet up again. You're giving the buffet a better review than me. I was disappointed in it. It was ok for comped for, it I had paid $20 I would have been upset. The fried chicken was very dry, now I'm wondering if it had been sitting out since they opened at 8am.

I was being extra nice because it’s hard to criticize something that someone else was paying for (comp or otherwise), but I was underwhelmed by the new buffet experience.

All checked into Rampart. The rooms here are NICE, but decor is a bit dated. I think I’m in a base room.

Bathroom has nice soaking tub and shower. Note to self - stop and get a nice bottle of wine. That tub deserves it.

@eliza Regarding your comments about the decor in the room, "nice but dated" was also my impression when I stayed there 4 years ago-- so you may be surprised (as I was) to learn that they were renovated only slightly before that.

Looks like a nice room. Love the tub!

And just FYI, every time I read your title I start singing (in my head) "I've got 2 tickets to paradise!" :kill:

Freed’s Bakery - This place smelled so good. The cake was fabulous.

Wine.....I so miss wine! Still don’t have my taste and smell back after 8 weeks post Rona. My wine fridge is full, it makes me sad when I look at it.

So much wine. Several Greek varietals, a Lebanese, and two Hungarian, plus a vermouth. And the cheeses were fabulous. Both the cheesemonger (owns the store) and the sommelier (from Elia) were super passionate about what they were presenting.

And they were pouring heavy. I drove so aunt and uncle could indulge and I think I dumped about a quarter of the wine I was served to stay good to drive. And if you wanted seconds they poured seconds. Or thirds.

I mentioned I was going to stop and get a bottle of wine and aunt insisted I take a bottle of Cakebread from their wine cellar. Yes please. Looking forward to a nice long soak tonight.

We had an awesome sommelier @ Barrys that actually went through that exact same thing, imagine the fear if you're a lifer Somm.
IIRC He pulled out of it and got taste and smell back somewhere around 2-3 months.. Hang in there!

Did some slotting around and VP play. Lost $30. Just poured myself a glass of wine. Time to soak and contemplate that somehow tomorrow is my last full day in Vegas. Plans are vague - meeting up with a VMBer in the afternoon and then again for a late dinner. Maybe popping back to Henderson for some more family time. Maybe Skyline because I honestly can’t believe I haven’t been there yet this trip - who am I?

The wine and cheese looked great. And I have never tried Cakebread but I guess I'm going to have to look for it. Do they have reds? I'm not much into chardonnay.

Sounds like a great meal/wine. Could you have Ubered? Cakebread is hard to find up here .... gets a 4.4 rating on my app (which is very good). Lucky you!
