Flight was out Vancouver this trip as we used our points, Westjet was our airline of choice due to great flight times.

Got up at 4am Friday 24th to start our day, quickly checked luggage and repacked it again! I need to pack last minute or I unpack and repack a million times before we head out. When we pack to leave from a vacation I’m the opposite it’s throw everything in the bag and check the room twice for anything that could have been missed.

On the flight we had a few drinks, running a tab as there are three of us travelling this trip L, DH and myself. I like a window seat, L sat in the middle and DH was aisle. On the way down we were row 9, and do you think row 9 has a window? NOPE! So I joked with the flight attendant when he asked “do you need anything else?” and I replied “a window would be nice” ;) L had the bright idea that I should draw a window on the wall, I wasn’t willing to risk that! When DH went to settle the tab the flight attendant said for 8 drinks and we said yes, then DH paid. After she walked away he handed me the bill (I am the bill keeper) and I looked at it, it was for 2 drinks! The three of us looked at each other, what do we do? I said it would be bad karma to start the trip off without paying the full bill, so we alerted the flight attendant of the error and she said “pay it forward”. We arrived at McCarran on time and off we went to the hotel. We had the driver drop DH off to pick up the rental and he’d never gone to the rentals before and went in the wrong way, it was comical!

Off to the Luxor we go! VIP wasn’t busy, so we had a quick chat as they checked us in (we know the clerks and like to catch up with them when we arrive), our rooms were just being cleaned so they called the bell desk and had them tend to our luggage and would call when the room is ready. Off to the casino we went, got upstairs to the casino floor and did a quick tour to see what machines are new and/or moved to new locations. One thing I can say is the Luxor moves their machines around quite a bit and nearly each trip there are new machines brought in. We go 3-4 times a year and rarely do not see any changes (some of the older machines don’t move much but there is always a lot of changes). After a quick tour we got the call our rooms were ready.

We are in the East Tower, got the suite we normally have and L had the adjoining room. We unpacked and then met DH and our friends from Scotland (J&N) who have a time share at the Grandview at SouthPoint (DH picked them up after getting the rental car). When we got to the room we were surprised it’s been refurnished! The only complaint I have is the safe has been moved to the shelf in the closet and I need a chair to see what’s in it or I am just having a “feel” for items we have put in it. One thing to note: The moths this year are quite bad, and we had a couple in the room. If you are in Vegas you will see plenty of moths, not just at the Luxor; although, they say the pyramids light attracts them and if you look at night you will see them flying in the light. I dubbed DH the “great moth hunter” when we got back to the room each night as he would go on the into “moth stealth mode” if we had any in the room.

Casino time! J&N were sitting on Buffalo machines so I sat next to them so have a visit. We all sit, drink and play while visiting it was a nice visit. N loves to chat and J says that if there was a medal for talking for Scotland she would hold a platinum diamond encrusted medal. It was a lovely visit and the slots were kind, as none of us really lost that much. We grabbed a quick bite at Public House, it was enjoyable, nothing really special though. We didn't spend our Friday budget so had extra to add to Saturday’s.

Saturday we headed had a quick breakfast at the Pyramid Café then headed out to the South outlet mall on our way to pick up J&N. We hit up the IZod store and found out it’s going out of business, everything was 70% off. The selection for women was obliterated and I didn’t find anything but DH found 4 pairs of shorts for $60 which is a great deal! I did find a pair of sandals, I love sandals and DH rolled his eyes when he saw me coming with them (he thinks I have plenty as I have about 14-15pairs, but any woman knows she can never have enough shoes). We got our stuff to the car and headed to SP to pick up J&N and off to M Resort we went. The plan was to use our $50 FP and have the free buffet we were sent. The FP I had didn’t pay me and I blew through it in 20 spins or so making very little, DH broke even on his. Our friend L sat at a Timber Wolf machine and immediately got the bonus and was up $100 right off so she was extremely happy. We left M Resort after about 3 hours of playing and were only down $40, we do find you get much more play time on the slots here. We dropped J&N back off at SP and headed to the Luxor as we had Jeff Dunham tickets. We walked to Bellagio, L and myself wanted to see the Faberge Egg exhibit, DH played slots while we went through. I chuckled as L got out money to pay for the exhibit and I explained that we will have free tickets due to the Platinum status. We really enjoyed the exhibit, the details on the artwork were “amazeballs”! DH wasn’t happy with the slots he got slaughtered (his words so I didn’t ask how much).

I had to redeem the MyVegas $50 reward at Monte Carlo so we took the tram there and decided to use it at The Pub. We had about an hour before we were going to eat, so we played some slots at MC to bide time. We were in MC for at least an hour and not one CW walked by where we were playing, we were not very happy and dying of thirst! MC have marked some machines with stickers that say “premium machine” making it easy to spot and avoid them if you wish. While playing Dragon’s Voyage I managed a good hit, so I left MC smiling. At The Pub DH and L had beer and I tried the pear cider on tap it was nice and not all that sweet and very thirst quenching. We ordered the appetizer sampler, calamari, and chicken wings. The artichoke spinach dip was less than impressive but we were happy with the rest of the appetizers. We chuckled when the food server kept coming to our table with other tables orders, they really must have thought we were starving! After dinner we took the tram over to Bellagio so we could head to PH for Jeff Dunham and it was raining! We aren’t sure how long it was raining but it was pooling quite quickly on the roadway. It’s amazing to watch people when it rains in Vegas, it’s total mayhem, makes me laugh every time I see rain in Vegas.

Jeff Dunham was fantastic! The show ran a bit longer as he was trying an extra block of material he had written so we got an added bonus which is always great; the new block will most likely be added to the show it was very funny. We cabbed back to the Luxor as we were tuckered from the long day. A bit of gambling before bed is always in order. We didn’t’ do anything special but starting Sunday we would have extra as we didn’t use all of Saturdays budget.

Sunday we drove out to Red Rock Canyon and did the 13mile drive through stopping for a few pictures here and there. We were going to do a hike but it was still too breezy and we found it cold. We stopped at Red Rock Casino on our way back into town. IMPRESSIVE! We were thoroughly impressed with the casino and multitude of games they have available; one of our next trips we will definitely stay for a night or two out here. I had the free buffet but it was Sunday so I couldn’t use it as they have a champagne brunch. New sign ups do get some free play $3-$500 will load onto the card when you put it in the machine, we each got $3. When we got back to the Luxor we had lunch at T&T with our host. We enjoy T&T and have yet to be disappointed. We caught up with our host and can only imagine how busy she is this weekend with the fight.

Monday DH & I had a tee time out at Reflection Bay for early morning so we got up, got ready and headed out. Finally the wind had died down, we were dreading golfing with how windy it was Fri-Sat-Sun in Vegas; I realize Vegas can be windy but it was really gusty the past few days. We rented clubs for this trip as we were only golfing this one round. The ladies set I got wasn’t in great shape and were whippy (my clubs have Sr. Mens shafts), the driver had weights loose and they rattled during my swing which drove me nuts. DH really enjoyed playing with the TaylorMades and is now looking for a new TaylorMade driver. The golf course was in great shape, the greens were fast, compared to the greens at home in BC this time of year. I golfed from the Silver tees and DH the whites; neither of us were happy with our scores. When we finished the round we headed back to the strip, picked up J&N along the way and met up with L back at the Luxor. Our host wanted me to contact her on the Monday so she could say “hello” to J&N (she’d met them on previous trips) and so we had another quick visit with her. Buffalo wasn’t being kind to me at all this trip so I was dabbling on other machines a lot (Cleo II… grrrrrrrrrr).

We had MJ One to see and were running late so we hit RiRa for dinner and had a rush on the meal. DH & L were really impressed with the fish’n’chips and said they would go back in a heartbeat for them. MJ One was stupendous! I had my host grab us tickets so we could room charge and use EC's to pay for them and they were absolutely fabulous seats! We all left saying it’s the best Cirque show we have seen so far and we have seen all but Zumanity, Criss Angel and Mystere. We stayed at Mandalay Bay for a bit to test the slot machines after the show, or I should say let them test how much we will feed them. When we finally made it back to the Luxor L went to bed and DH & I stayed up til 1am (we normally are in bed by 10, maybe 11! We are getting old). We most likely would not have stayed up so late but I hit a few $300 wins so it kept us going for a bit.

Tuesday we went to SP for breakfast as J&N said they wanted to buy us breakkie, the coffee shop is a great place to eat; I recommend it if you are looking for a reasonable meal. I did really well to start at SP and they have a promotion where you earn 300points and you scan to win. I got 2500 slot points for mine so I redeemed some point play and DH got the same; L got a food voucher so she gave it to J&N to use as they don’t leave until May. The slots were being kind to me and I played the Flintstones (very entertaining game of course I was making money so that helped) and ZZ Top (I found a lot of fun but I was getting a lot of bonuses!). DH didn’t fare well and was done gambling soon after arriving, he just didn’t have the touch there it seemed. We headed to the car at 12:30 as J&N enjoy talking (well, I should say I do too) and it took a good half hour to say our “see ya laters” before we actually got into the car. Taking the car back to Thrifty was a breeze, parked and cabbed back to the Luxor.

We had plans for Tender for dinner so sat around the casino playing and visiting for our last day. Time flies when you are in Vegas and no matter how long the trip is it never seems long enough. Our meal at Tender was enjoyable, I used the $75 off $150 spend and the bill was still $270! HAHA we should learn to drink less! After our leisurely meal we headed to the casino for our last blast at the slots. DH sat at Quick Hits and got the feature (quick hit spins) and hit 8 quick hits for a nice $1506! It seemed to take forever to get paid though. Being Canadian we lost $450 but we were still happy with a handpay on our last night, so we came home with some money! We decided to hit up the Luxor Riches after he got paid did a quick hit’n’run taking $300 out after a few spins. It was 1am before we headed to bed, after donating a few bucks back of his big hit.

Wednesday morning was somber as it always is when it’s your last few hours in Vegas. We had breakfast at the Pyramid Café and then played a bit before checking out. We had all 5 nights comped, MJ One tickets we used EC’s to pay them and all other charges were covered. Being slot players we came home with half our budget so we considered this trip a HUGE WIN!

We got the airport on time the flight was running a little late so we had an extra 10 minutes in the airport. When we were leaving the ground crew at the airport was waving, this is the first time I've seen that so had to try and catch a picture.

Quick note: I had my VMB Wristband on, and I was spotted by WWGB while I was playing the progressive 25c VP at the Luxor. It was fantastic to meet you WWGB!! I hope you had a great trip.

You got around a lot. Congrats on the hand pay; getting it late in the trip ensures some goes home with you!

Nice report Nice hit at the end to bring back some funds too. Yes, ladies can never have enough sandals...lol., just bought a new pair a couple days ago. I completely understand when you say how fast time flies, not matter how long the trip. We just got home 8 days ago from a 6-night stay and I was not ready to come home yet. Just love that Vegas weather in April, especially coming from the cooler climates. In my mind I always think I am going to stay up late and party in Vegas, but my bodyclock just doesn't cooperate and I find myself in bed around 10:00 in LV....heck, that's midnight our time...I feel like that's almost a sin!!! .I must be getting old. Thanks for sharing your experience.

It was over $1500 when I left. Best I could manage was 4 aces playing ddb. I need to keep an eye out for and get one of those wrist bands.
