Shhh on the cookies! At $1.61 each (odd pricing) they are a nice way to use some comp $'s, and they tend to only have a half dozen or so available!

Amazing that after all this play you are only halfway through the trip! You are going to need a vacation from your vacation!

    11/3/19 Sunday at Golden Gate.

A guy like me that wants everything paid for, but prefers to bet quarters has to play a lot of hours. Fortunately I like playing VP, but it is nice to have day off on a long trip. Today is that day. This is my last trip of the year, and I am going on a coupon run today. This is the beginning of a week of using a lot of FP and MP's

I haven't been sure of the exact time most of the day. There was apparently a time change and casinos don't have clocks. I think that I was up at 10:00, but didn't catch my first bus till 12:30. I was headed to Hooters on the Deuce. I had ACG and LVA coupons that included a $10 MP and 2 play $10 get $10 FP. I won $20 on the MP. I had been in an epic MP slump, like a universe must hate me type of slump, so I was extremely pleased. I played my own $20 through on 30/8/5 BP to get $20 FP. Playing the FP turned into an exercise of frustration. I couldn't get it to work. The display showed I had it, but wouldn't let me access it. I started turning on the "Change" lights, but no one responded. I find myself unsuccessfully doing the same things over and over again. Insanity? Perhaps, because I am also cursing at an inanimate object. Eventually, I flagged down a lady that walked right past my lights. She explained that I had to put a dollar in first. Hmm. That information is so useful that one might expect some sort of instructions. I put in my dollar, bet, and the machine declared my card abandoned and no FP came. I lost the dollar, tried to start again, but now my card was locked. I went back to the players club and they called an employee to give me specialized remedial instruction. After playing through my $20 FP, I wound up with a VP profit of $4.50. So I'm up $24.50 and as frustrated as if I'd lost $200. I did get my first Baily's and coffee of the day out of the deal

Next up was Ellis Island. I, however, saw the MM store and spontaneously exited the Deuce. I got sidetracked though. There was this shoe store, and my shoes reached worn out years ago. There was a sale on and I love sales. The also offered a 2nd pair for a 50% discount. Obviously I don't shoe shop much, but this was much harder than I remember. First, my feet must have grown, because my usual 11's are feeling really tight. I have so many boxes of shoes out in a confined space that I lose track of which shoes and sizes I prefer. I choose two, but then found a whole different section that has some even better potential. Most have sizes that are too small. Eventually I have a pair from the 1st section and a pair from the 2nd section. I have no sense of time. Hell for me may well turn out to be a shoe store. Before I leave the store, I put on one of the new pairs. For $92, I should start wearing the immediately. I throw away my old pair. I couldn't give them away in an East African market.

I then head to the MM store. I go immediately to the floor were I got free samples on earlier trips. I loiter. A woman offers to help me. No samples seem to be coming, so I resume my EI journey. I get off at PH to take a stroll, cut into Paris, take the passage to Bally's, turn south, take the escalator down, walk past the shops, and exit yards away from EI.

The façade of EI has changed dramatically, but the beer garden still isn't open. I have ACG and LVA coupons for 2 $10 MP's and 2 play $10 get $10 to $100 FP. I'll get $10, right? We'll see. I also can get a free t shirt, 6 free drinks, and a half priced meal. The BBQ coupon is now a twofer and no use to me today. Even though it is Sunday, with a game on, I manage to find a seat at the bar. I used to play 9/6 JOB and 16/10 deuces on the floor. Those games are gone. The .25c 7/5 BP at the bar is as good as anything I'm finding on the floor. I order a Bailey's and coffee as I play my initial $20. I lose half of it. I have a semi talkative neighbor who agrees to watch my seat. I still take my spare shoes with me. I get $20 FP, both times, 2 MP's, a $7.99 steak offer, and, for some reason, a free beer. I lose both MP's playing black. The slump resurfaces. When I get back to the bar, someone has already moved in. I reclaim my seat. My neighbor alludes to fighting people off. I thank him. I download the $40FP and order a Mai Tai. Its's been a warm day and I'm feeling tropical. I play slow and horribly. I order their seasonal Octoberfest. I initially dismiss it, but it grows on me. When my FP is over I am down $6.25 at EI. Not everyone can lose $6.25 when you spot them $20 in MP's and $40 in FP. I sort through my coupons and my neighbor asked me were I got them. As I got into my answer, I could see that he was half listening at best. Couponing isn't for everyone. I was ready for breakfast. As I still had most of my Octoberfest and another free beer in my pocket, I decided that now was not the time for an extra 6 free drinks. I'll save it for the day the poker gods drive me crying from the machines. Today, I'm eating my meal mostly sober.

I take my beer and head to the restaurant. I beat the rush and get a table right away. I love both the restaurant and the BBQ, but I'm eating cheap. Paying for a Vegas meal is a Blue Moon sort of event. I have to ease into it. I ask if I can stack my 50% off onto the $7.99 steak. It's ok that I can't, because I want the fish and chips and now I won't have to decide between the two. I go to the bar to get an IPA while I wait. I thought the meal was good. My favorite fish and chips is made of halibut, so I didn't expect to be blown away. I've eaten a number of pub meals in London and I prefer EI's rendition to any of those. The IPA wasn't a standout on it's own, but was great for washing down the meal. I have $2.00 worth of points and have to pay about $3.50 more. I have a third of my beer left, but the rush has started and I want to give my absolutely wonderful server her table back. I sat in the waiting couches and took in the grandeur of EI. It has its charm. I see the roulette wheel and wonder what would have happened if I waited until after dinner to play. The next 3 spins are red. I finish my beer and decide to head to Sam's Town.

I catch the 202 East bound pretty quickly. The coupon is another play $10 get $10 FP. I head upstairs where the 9/6 JOB has been banished. I actually make $7.50 on the play. I go to the desk and the woman says that she only see's $5 of play. I know that she is confusing points with dollars, but she tries to load it anyway. It doesn't work. I go back down. Another employee shows her what to do. I turn the FP into $11.25. I'm up $18.75 at ST. I asked the 202 driver where to catch the return bus. It didn't stop where I expected. Fortunately they were unloading a wheelchair and I had time to cross the street and catch the bus.

I was headed to Gold Coast and Orleans. Turns out I must have already used the GC coupons. Something was wrong with our bus and we had to switch to a double decker. I normally like to sit on top, but we were too close to make the extra effort. When I got off at GC, I quickly caught the shuttle to Orleans. This time I went to the desk first. I lost both my $10 MP's playing black. I'm 1 out of 5 for this coupon run and down $20. I broke even on the FP, so down $20 at Orleans. I was seriously underperforming on this coupon run. I caught the shuttle, which is now a full sized bus, back to the Strip. The drop off is at the Fashion something mall. It was late and the stores were closed. I crossed the street and got to the stop just as the Deuce was pulling up. Even though the scenic lights were in the other direction, I climbed to the top and took the front street. For some reason, dozens of police cars and motorcycles were parked along LVB. So I got to see flashing lights. Once we passed The STRAT , things returned to normal.

I was pleased to still have my extra shoes and planned to drop them off as soon as I got back DT. On my way to my room, a band on the stage next to Binion's was doing a Cranberry's tune. It was a great rendition and the lead singer had the crowd helping with the chorus. It was the best performance I've ever seen on Freemont. While she was singing, a woman stepped in front of me an said "I'm not worthy." I'm sure that had some significant meaning, but I let it go. She walks away. I was ready to settle in, but that was their last song of the night.

Back at GG, I finally dropped off my shoes. I went downstairs and checked the progressives. It was positive, but not high enough to sell me yet. I decided to play off my $150 FP at the bar. I wanted a game that paid 2 for 2 pair, but 8/6 BP Deluxe was the best I could do. It was stuck on a $1,199 RF. I ordered a 2 hearted ale and drank it fast. My plan was to play slow and drink fast. Then I ordered a Duvel. I couldn't drink that fast. I got dealt several trips early on, but never converted. In fact trips was my highest playing hand. I ordered another 2 hearted ale and cashed out for $105. I checked the progressives one more time Both the Quad and SF had recently reset. The RF, though, may turn unto a monster.

Thus endeth the underperforming coupon run.

I'll be playing more tomorrow which is my last day at the GG.

In answer to the fortune teller promo at Boyd, we checked in on a Wednesday and were able to use the promo on Wed. and Thur. My wife and I will both be 50 by this time next year so I guess we will no longer be eligible on Wednesday's.

Thanks. For those that haven't read mwig's trip report yet, it's a pretty cool story. I'd love to tell one like it before my trip is done.

How do you know this shit? You barely play downtown. I was sure you were wrong and checked the games. It was right next to the game I played last night. I probably would have saved $20 or so if I had played it instead. Not sure how I missed it, but I'll know for next trip. Thanks.

    Lol

I looked at all the games at the D long bar a few years back, and they actually haven't changed them since. Paytables at bars seem to change fairly slowly overall. And I also will glean info from TRs. If they get rid of 9/6 JoB at BHB or the good bartop VP at 4Q, I'm sure I'll hear it here first.

10/26 Monday, last day at GG

I have been reading TR's from members who have hit the progressive Royals I have been chasing over the past week. I'm fine. Really! My therapist says to just play through it.

I finally get downstairs around noon. The quad is over $43. I play fast for a few minutes until someone else hits it. I earned 5 of the 272 points I plan to play today.

I'm headed to Binion's. I have $40 FP and they still have their offer for a $10 food voucher after 50 points and $20 FP after 200 points. Spotting me $60 to play $1,600 works. They have 9/7 DB with a $1,170 RF that I'll play. I'll get killed if the quads don't show, but I'll take my chances. I start at 12:30pm and my $40 FP turns into $50. I continue playing and lose the FP at 12:44. I lost my $100 buy in at 1:22. I only had 91 points so far and my credits continued to drain. At 1:34, I drew 8's. I drew a pair of Aces to match the pair I'd been dealt at 1:47. I drew 3's three minutes later and 5's a few minutes after that. My 400 credit rebuy had turned into 1,540. It was a good 10 minutes. At 2:22 the counter reported that I had 200 points. I cashed out up $95 for the play. The player's desk only saw 199 points. I went back and lost $2.50 getting 1 point. After playing through the FP, I was up $110.

I was going to eat BBQ at the cigar bar, but they don't open till 4:00. I checked the GG progressives and decided to go to El Co. I hadn't gambled there for 6 months and had comps and points that I didn't want to lose. They told me that those were safe for another 6 months, but that I had $10 FP that would expire soon. I decided to use the FP on 9/6 DDB. I never got anything higher than 3 OAK, but I was dealt several of those, including Aces and 3's. So there were moments of excitement. At one time I was over $15. I decided to play for a cash out win or broke. I went broke with 152 points.

I walked back to GG and the quad was high. I quickly lost $52.50 before someone hit it. I had 19 more points and went for my BBQ.

Benny's had a new bartender who initially gave me a mini beer. The bar has 4 Chicago Brewing taps, Lagunitas IPA, Mirror Pond Ale, and Tenaya Creeks Oatmeal Stout. I like the stout. I was playing 7/5 BP slowly. The bartender had warmed up to me by my 2nd round and the beer was coming in 23oz servings. Dinner came too quick for my liking. I thought they might have microwaved it. It was great though, especially the half rack of ribs. They were better than I remembered. The plate also had corn on the cob, baked beans, a half chicken, coleslaw, and a cornbread muffin. I like my corn a little warmer and some of the breast meat was a little dry. I admit that I am not a BBQ connoisseur, but I thought the rest of the chicken, ribs, beans and corn bread muffin were praiseworthy. The oatmeal stout was delicious and I ordered 2 more. I had thought about walking to Tenaya Creek today for their Happy Hour, but that seemed pointless now.
The bartender took my $10 voucher and gave me a some kind of discount. I had to pay .30c in comp pennies. I broke even at the machine. I poured my remaining beer into a to go cup and went back to GG.

The GG had a $131 SF and a $35.50 quad. I hid my stout on top of my machine so that I could order some last Two Hearted Ales. My original server who had given me the wrong beer 5 days ago, was now my new best friend and brought me 2 of them. I started playing at 6pm. I lost $27.50 at 6:12. I put in my other TITO for $105. I drew 3's at 6:21 and was dealt 7,s for $37.30 at 6:26. I cashed out at 6:27 up $48.50 with 31 points. 217 to go. I brought my stout up to my room with a Two Hearted Ale. The Stout got stored outside my window

I restarted at 8:42. There was a $42 quad that someone hit quickly. At this point I was just going to play through. I hit K's for $32.76 at 8:57, 2's at 9:02 for $50, 4's for $50 at 9:32, J's for $37.94 at 9:52, J's again for $35.61 at 10:34, 6's for $31.97 at 10:39 and 2's for $50 immediately after. I quit at 10:46. I won some money today, but have lost track as to how much. I had played $25,010 over my 5 night stay. I brought my last Two Hearted Ale up to my room.

I got a couple more cookies from Magnolia's to take back to my room for dinner.

I move back to The D tomorrow.

Great trip report wasilla, love all of the detail, I'm not a big VP player, but your reports make me want to play! Can't wait to get there in a few weeks.

What's the deal with leaving beer out your window? Surely it isn't that cold, and who knows what may have landed in it?

Hope you find a few more Royals!

Thanks for the well wishes. I want to respond to several of your replies, but I am guessing you'd prefer an update, so here it goes.

    11/5/19 at The D

So far my D and GG stays have eaten away my earlier winnings. I made a little money on my coupon run day and also yesterday. Otherwise, I've been losing since I left Jerry's Nugget. Both to reclaim my luck and cash in my TITO's I decided to return. Problem was that this was moving day. I was up at 9:30, but it took me over an hour to get out the door. I had done most of the packing before leaving. Naturally I checked the Vue Bar progressive first thing. I then talked to a D host about a room upgrade. Corner Kings were all taken, but I could get a high floor with a "panoramic" view. It sounded good and I didn't even know how many floors this place had. Apparently the number is 34 and I'm on 33. I don't know about a great view, but it is a lot quieter in this rarified air. Last week my upgraded room was ready quickly. Today it took much, much longer. I checked around 3pm and the room had been cleaned, but not checked. She called someone and I got called shortly afterwards. I should have checked sooner as this was cutting into my Jerry's time. and gambling had not been going great today.

After talking to the host, I started playing at 11:10am. I lost over $200 in an hour playing the .25c 8/5 BP 3 way progressive. The quad alone made the game a great play and I was chasing it fast while hemorrhaging credits. At 12:08, I hit 2,s for $50. While the credits were counting off, someone hit the quad for $42. I was already late and went to check out. I was now down only about $160.

After a visit to the Bell Hop, I restarted playing at 12:48. The RF is over $1200. I can't read my own writing, but the SF is high enough to chase. I manage to hit 6's for $39.25 at 1:00. After that, I take a bit of a break to let the quad grow. It is getting hit a lot, too much for the amount of players. My neighbor hits 3's and as I congratulate him, I notice the quad reset. I ask him if he is playing 7/5 JOB. He is. Turns out that he has a whole crew who occupy the whole left side of the bar that are also playing it. Their game choice is costing us both money. I make my pitch, but he doesn't look interested. I had misread him though, because he thanked me when he left and said he had switched. I hit 6's for $34 at 1:43, and again for $38 at 2:04. Quad 6's are keeping me in the game this afternoon. I still lose $100 at 2:46. I draw a fourth 3 at 2:52. At 2:54, I'm dealt a heart flush that includes a 4 card Royal. After reading all of the RF's VMB members had hit at this bar over the last week, I have convinced myself that the 10 of hearts is coming. It was the 10 of spades. I decide to ignore my delusions. I check on my room, and come back chasing a quad. My room call comes, but I continue quad chasing. I hit it at 3:14 for $40.25. It wasn't 6's if you're wondering, I had held 2 kings. I quit at 3:36 having won $25 on my last $100.

I got my bags and tossed them on my bed. What had preventing me from going to Jerry's was the amount of money I was carrying. I wanted to put my money in the safe before venturing out. The bus ride this trip wasn't pleasant. It was packed. Two wheel chairs needed 4 seat sections each, and their were half a dozen seats used for luggage, walkers, and oversized people. It was also hot. A seat opened right before my stop with cool air blowing. Funny how shifting a yard can make things so much more pleasant. There was no jaywalking the street when I got off. We were getting rush hour busy.

I converted my $15 FP into $10 on 9/6 DDB. I played my $5 MP on black and ….. actually won. My 4 MP Jerry's losing streak had ended! I moved to 16/10 DW. Remembering my point tallying fiasco from last week, I actually did the math first and know exactly what I need for my $10 senior day food credit. Jerry's is a guilty pleasure where I play small amounts with a miniscule edge just for the fun of it. It is like a vacation from a Vegas vacation.

I start playing at 4:32. I lost my $10 FP winnings at 4:35. I put a lucky $100 TITO from last week in. At 4:38 I drew a wild RF. A minute later I was dealt a wild diamond SF and dealt another wild SF in clubs 2 minutes after that. The lucky TITO is working! It's grown to $140. I got five 8's at 5:00 and another wild RF at 5:18. I had dropped to $97.50. The very next hand was another wild SF. At 5:32 I was dealt a wild heart SF. After days of chasing SF progressives, I finally drew a natural one in Clubs playing DW. The universe has a sense of humor. If I could have gotten the D's deuces here, and here's SF at the D, I'd be around $400 richer. At 5:42 I drew 2 for a diamond Royal Flush. It would have been worth a couple hundred more at the D, and I absolutely don't give a crap. I've played a lot of hands since the last one. I just can't believe I got it a it Jerry's. A woman sees the hand pay and asks me if I got it playing Keno. OMG! I look like a Keno player. So I haven't earned my food credit yet and get back to playing. At 6:02, I get another wild SF in diamonds followed by one in clubs 5 minutes later. At 6:11, I had my food comp and cashed out.

I skipped my intended burger for an advertised special. It was Monterey Chicken, a chicken breast topped with cheese and grilled mushrooms, onions and tomatoes. It was really good. I chose the salad with ranch over the soup. The greens come with croutons, cheese, and lots of tomatoes. I'm not a crouton guy, but this salad won my over. Greek spaghetti was a side on offer. I ordered it even though I'm not a big spaghetti fan. I took a bite and then 5 or 6 more before I even tasted the chicken. I also loved the garlic bread. I could have split the meal. I had to stop eating with a third of it left. I was going to leave it, but spontaneously asked for a to go box as my plate was being removed. I thought the meal was great, but I must have missed a memo. Everyone, that I could see, was having prime rib, Some had soup and some had salad. Portion sizes and sides varied, but everyone had prime rib. My meal cost $13 something, so I also had to use some of comps that had accumulated on my card. It's kind of like the D where you can earn comps for your play, but can also get time limited comps. I had a $5 weekly, $10 senior day, and $20 something earned comps on my card today.

After dinner, I cashed my chips and TITO's. I wandered the casino a bit. I wanted a tiny bit of time to pass before I used my 2nd comp for a take away bakery item. They don't let you use 2 comps at once. It was quite the haul at JN. I left up $960, a good meal, leftovers, and a big slice of fudge cake. I took a much less crowded bus back, visited the safe, and returned to the bar to play.

The RF had been hit, but the SF was around $250. I started playing at 8:15pm. I drew a 4th King at 8:18 and a 4th Ace at 8:30. My 500 credit TITO had grown to 956. I slumped. The SF was hit around 9:10 with around $260. I can guess who hit it. A couple were hugging and gazing at her screen. No yelling or attention seeking, just quiet joy. I would have quit, but the quad was worth chasing. I finally drew 2 Q's for $45. I quit at 10:20 up $155 for the session. My play for the day was on track with 547 points or $5,470 coin in.

So today was cool and a good exercise in perspective. Once again I appreciate your well wishes. It's getting late and I have some leftovers and a Stone IPA to get to.

Glad you finally broke the Royal drought, and kind of awesome it happened at Jerrys, it's great to see it coming up more in the TRs, It really is kind of a alternate vegas universe in there, I'd also add, my few hours trip w @EastCoastVegasFan! has got them sending me some great weekly promos, too. Apparently, its a great Prime Rib (if its good enough for @DaiLun, sheeeit), along with a lot of other menu options, and the bakery to go never fails..

Now that everyone else got theirs, get a few more.. I believe! :drunk: May the variance be with you.

    (don't forget to get a t-shirt!)
(and just mho, I'd uber or lyft over bus or walk, but ymmv)
