    My Trip Report

This review will be mainly about dining and shows and very little about gambling (although I gambled alot)

For this trip my girlfriend and I had two nights comped at Venetian ($175FP and $50FC) and five nights comped at Caesars ($100FC). I am a diamond player so I don't get huge comps but I do get enough to make me frequent Vegas at least twice year, even from Atlanta. We both also had or celebration dinner certificates.

The schedule will look like this
Monday - Michael Jackson One and dinner at Lupo by Wolfgang Puck
Tuesday - Legends in Concert and dinner at Raos
Wednesday - Tapeface and dinner at Hell's Kitchen.
Thursday - The Beatles Love and dinner at Bacchanal Buffet
Friday - Mat Franco and dinner at Center Cut Steakhouse

Other places reviewed Canters Deli, Bouchon, and Sprinkles

    More to follow shortly

Took a limo to airport so I could drink on the way then had two double Fireballs at Longhorn at airport before flight. Flew out on Southwest no real issues but serious headwinds so the flight took about 40 minutes longer then it should have. Used multiple drink tickets on flight. Arrived about 10:30pm. Took an Uber to Venetian, great driver, had water and snacks/candy in car for us. Did a little gambling and went to bed. The Venetian beds are top notch to me and bathroom more then adequate. Really wanted 4 nights (only got 2) here but Host said convention was in town. Damn Adobe bastards.....I may just uninstall it cause you cut into my comps .....LOL

Next morning got FP and went to breakfast at Bouchon. Both of us ordered.....*Petit Déjeuner Américaine two eggs any style with bacon, sausage & potato croquettes with toasted whole wheat, a Bouchon Bakery pastry, fresh juice & Bouchon blend coffee. I give this place 4 1/2 out of 5 croissants. Service was top notch. All food was hot fresh and tasty. This covered our $50 FC and was well worth it. Based on my experience I may go back here for dinner sometime.

Later in the day we checked into Caesars as I was double booked one night. Then Uber to Mandalay Bay. Kinda wish they would rename the place cause it gave me a creepy feeling to drive up and know a mass murder occurred here.

We had no set dinner plans and stumbled across Lupo. With ressies the next night at Raos I was a little concerned having Italian back to back. But we went for it. We ordered a bottle of Acqua Panna Natural Spring Water and my girlfriend ordered the pasta bolognese while I ordered the Osso Bucco (having never had it before) Her pasta was average while mine was excellent. Fell right off the bone and awesome flavor. I give this place 4 out of 5 Meatballs. Bread was good , service was good and friendly. Only mishap was my GF ordered hers with no grated Parmesan garnish as she can't eat it that way (fine cooked inside) and of course it came out with parm on it. Luckily it is pasta so its a quick redo. That cost 1/2 a meatball.

We then gambled a bit until MJ One we were seated on the right side but by the aisle near the middle Row N seats 1 & 2. Perfect seats. This show was excellent. The music, the acrobatics, the dancing, people coming from the ceiling from the back of the arena, from the sides , from under the stage. A couple of highlights. One performer has one leg and was awesome. The MJ hologram scene is very cool how they dance in step right by Michael. I give this show 5 out of 5 Sparkly Gloves. If you like MJ music go see this show.

    Well thats enough about Monday.

So now it is Tuesday. Wake up early cause it is Vegas and we move our stuff to Caesars. I have a comped room in the Augustus Tower 38 floor and great view of the Bellagio Fountains. After moving in we are hungry for breakfast so we go over the Hash Hash. I desperately want the Chicken and Waffles but I have lost 30lbs since Mid January so I opt for The Basic and GF gets the Tractor Pull It is so fun to see a plate over flowing with a monster pancake. Oh BTW it is nice to be Diamond cause at least 100 people were waiting at 10am on a Tuesday and we walked right up and got seated. After eating nearly half our breakfast we were stuffed. Did some gambling this side of the strip (Linq, Harrahs)

Tonights dinner is Raos using Celebration funds and RCs as needed. We get another bottle of our flat water. So good in the Vegas dry air. Bread is good here with oil and balsamic. I order the meatball app and they dont disappoint. Very filling. For dinner GF gets Lasagne and I order Shrimp Fra Diavolo . Mine is awesome just enough spice and 6 huge huge shrimp (with the tails on---i hate that in red sauce LOL). We thoroughly enjoy this dinner and chat with the server about our travels. Overall an excellent meal and well worth a visit. On the bucket list is to go to the one in New York someday. I rate this 5 out of 5 cannolis even with shrimp tails

Tonights show is Legends in Concert (now at Flamingo, I swear they have been in every casino) The lineup is Sting, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, and Elvis. Now I have seen legends multiple times but at least it is mixed up so I dont repeat artists. Sting was first, he started slow but picked up the pace halfway through and did a good job and was close looking. Next was MJ. This was the surprise of the night it was young MJ the kid was 16 (looked 12) and was incredible. Great dancer, great smile, great singer, and so fun to hear old MJ stuff that I was not expecting. Third was Aretha. Look wise was soso and she started a little slow too but she got going and was belting them out she had to be late 40s or more but did a solid job. Last was Elvis and while he looked ok and sang fair he did not have the Elvis flair. I chalk it up to an off night as Im sure it wears on you to do this so often. Overall I give this 3 1/2 microphones out of 5 with young MJ getting mad props. Oh and this was a Free Diamond show so extra bonus there. In a front row booth just to the left of the stage and great view.

    Next up Wednesday

For Wednesday we originally had open but decided to book Tapeface as it was on sale thru Vegas dot com.

Tonights dinner is Hell's Kitchen. Now I am a Gordon Ramsey fan and watch the show even though some of the show is ridiculous. I made this reservation about 6 weeks out and it was for 4:45 pm so we could catch a show after. The set up here is cool. Atmosphere is wonderful and staff all very professional. The place is packed and reservations only (at least today) We get a window seat. GF orders a glass of wine. I decide to order a Meet your Maker which is Maker’s Mark Bourbon, Domaine de Canton, mint, apple, strawberry, cinnamon. Both drinks are very tasty. Again we are using Celebration Funds and capped with RCs. GF orders the Filet (medium well) and side of Mac N Cheese. I order the HK SIGNATURE PRE-FIXE MENU I select the scallops, Beef Wellington, and the Sticky toffee pudding with Speculoos ice cream for dessert. Our server is attentive and we enjoy our drinks as we wait for our food. It is busy so it seems to take a while to get my scallops (maybe they were improperly cooked and sent back like the show LOL) Once they arrive they are delicious and well enjoyed by me. My plate is cleared and we await our entrees. Luckily our show is across the street but it is General Admission so I was hoping to not be late. Finally the entrees arrive and my beef wellington is massive. GF steak is dropped down by the food runner and we dig in. Mine is perfect and tasty. GF filet is a hockey puck. She cuts in and begins to eat making an awful face. I emplore her to return it but she is like we dont have time. Our waiter is MIA but I see a suit asking tables how everything in so I wave him down. He takes her steak and promises to return with a properly cooked steak. A few minutes pass and he returns and places the visually appealing steak down and steps back for her to cut into it. And it is WELL DONE. GF says it is ok if it is closer to Medium. He steps forward and says he will be right back. Try three appears , looks like a little juice is present but ALAS it is WELL DONE. He apoligizes and says he will take care of our bill as we were now short on time and she went ahead and ate some of the well done steak. Now the Mac n Cheese was some of the best I had ever had (it is Baked macaroni & cheese with Smoke Gouda, crispy prosciutto) So the waiter stops by and apologizes profusely and we say not your fault. He brings the dessert and it is good but we are late so eat a few bites and tip him and head out. HK rating 3 out of 5 Black Jackets. My meal including drink got 5 out of 5 but 3 well done steaks and GR would have kicked whoever was on meat station out of the kitchen. Really I was pissed at the expediter cause he or she should have been able to tell

Tonights show is Tapeface. He is new to Vegas and was runner up on Americas got Talent. For those that don't know he is a comedian with Tape over his mouth. The auditorium holds about 200 to 300 people I would guess. We sat about 8 rows back on the aisle. He does audience participation and they advise you ahead of time of this and to please not be a dick (LOL). He didnt disappoint. The show was hilarious. Timed well and participants were great. I laughed from start to finish. This show gets 5 out 5 rolls of Duct Tape. I highly recommend this to all VMB members.

One footnote my GF is always cold so she had a nice jacket that we left at HK by accident. After the show they had it upfront for us with my name on it from the reservation we had. Was nice they took care of it.

    Next stop Thursday

Sorry but SMH at the comments about Ramsey kicking the cook out for a well-done Filet and annoyed about the expo? Was he/she a chef? I would love to see the 'hockey puck'...Ok maybe your scallops took too long and the filet was unattended..shit happens when a kitchen is crazy busy..
Chances are they took an existing filet already cooking for another table and popped it in a microwave a bit to long,Twice...If they are busy they want come-backs back out Asap...Don't buy into the hype that this would never happen in a 'celeb' restaurant..
It takes much more than a few minutes to take even a 5oz filet from raw/rare to MW and even more so as you state and do that twice..and OVERCOOK it twice? Just a bad thing I agree..
Nice report though BTW just have to defend those in the business all their freaking lives and maybe give a little awareness to those who have not.

    Here is Thursday

Since we had an additional $100 voucher now since HK was free we decided to try the Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars. Again being diamond had its perks as we skipped the line and walked right in. Overall the food here was pretty good. I ate a ton of crab legs but most of the other stuff was just average. I dont think its worth $60 or whatever the price really is unless you sat there for like 3 hours. Service was pretty non existent as plates just piled up. Overall it was pretty forgettable experience. I rate it 2 out of 5 dirty dishes.

The show tonight was LOVE. I booked tickets ahead of time thru MLIFE and had section 207 through recommendations here. Now the show had great costumes and props but the acrobatics were limited. The roller bladders were excellent. Watching it was a little confusing since it is round theater and hard to know where to look win. The stuff the showed on the screens seemed more distracting then entertaining. The sound and music was ok. I will admit both of us were left wanting something better. I I rate this 2 out of 5 yellow submarines. Parts of the show were entertaining but some seemed to cause a snoozefest. Props and costumes were top notch though.

    Next on to Friday

    Happy Belated birthday :D

We saw Tapeface in 2016 in the AGT show with the little girl and the hypnotists that were the winners and runners up and he was great then too. Glad you enjoyed :)

I haven't been hearing a lot of good things about HK. Sorry about your experience there. Here's hoping they get into a groove. I don't understand the rave reviews I see for Bacchanal. I gave it another try two weeks ago and it definitely isn't worth the price. Everything was cold, service was almost non existent for drinks and removing plates. Wicked Spoon is far superior imo.

Thanks for reviewing the shows; helps for planning future trips.

    Good write up so far!

When my gf and I had GR Steak, we had a similar issue, hers was a bit underdone while mine was a bit overdone. Looking back on it, we should have just switched probably. But she sends her back, and they way over do it. And she was even more disappointed, but felt guilty for them to start over. I'm like nope, you need to enjoy this. The staff agreed. They got it to an acceptable cooking the third time.

They also have us a free dessert (sticky toffee pudding) for the trouble. That stuff is awesome!

On to Friday. Todays show is Mat Franco. Free Diamond tickets and seats middle of small theatre in the aisle. Mat puts on a great show. Very entertaining. Some of his tricks are close up magic so he invites people on stage to assist and they show on screen the close up. He is very creative in how he puts on his show. Attempting to show you how he does tricks only to do another trick. Also puts a little humor in the show which is always fun. His wrap up trick is pretty good too. Overall I give it 4 1/2 out of 5 Playing cards.

Tonights dinner was because we had an extra celebration voucher and I wanted steak. I thought about going to Old Homestead in Caesars but we opted for Center Cut at Flamingo. We had late dinner as we went after the show. Once we arrived I was underwhelmed with the atmosphere. I ordered a Shrimp Cocktail and it was very good. Nice size shrimp as well. For dinner we both ordered Filet and they came out Medium as ordered and were very tasty. Service was adequate. Overall I give this 3 1/2 out of 5 Pink Flamingos. The place only had a few tables seated and it was Friday night although after 9pm.

    Next up trip summation

    Trip summary

Overall was a great trip and loved spending my 50th Birthday in Vegas. I will say Caesars is not for me. The casino is too big and the dealers just did not seem friendly. The room was nice and great view but that was only good in the morning cause at night all the view was blurry from drinking. It was also odd that even though I have had Line of Credit at multiple Caesar properties, they would only give me slot tickets and not cash at the cage cause they said they have to know me. I go to Vegas twice a year and never had that issue at other CET properties. I get it that they dont want to be a free ATM for me but was still an odd feeling and minor inconvenience.

Now Venetian is still great and rooms are incredible. Those beds are so comfy. The casino is nice and with Palazzo next door you can mix it up.

Overall though I think next trip I will go back to Paris, feels more at home to me.

Last comment if you or a loved ones loves cupcakes I highly recommend Sprinkles in the Linq Promenade, Two added pluses there is you can use your CET RCs to pay for them and if you a jones for sugar you can use there Cupcake ATM, Yup pretty cook to get a cupcake out of the wall LOL.

Thanks for reading and if anyone is curious about a show or restaurant I visited and has another question feel free to ask.

I like your style of a limo to the airport and a few drinks to get the party started. Thanks for a great TR. I turned 50 in Vegas almost seven years ago now. We go every year, but used to go several times a year, and I miss that. I also miss a limo from the airport since our host left.

Great TR, enjoyed hearing all the details of your meals and shows. Your experience at HK is why I always get angst when picking a nicer steakhouse to dine at in Vegas. I really hate making a fuss and sending things back, although I have and can. The thought of dropping $200-$300 on a meal and being disappointed in it is not fun. And I WILL NOT eat a well done steak. The low end of medium is my preference. I'm glad to hear they made things right for you and that overall it was a great time.
