Trips to Las Vegas

IMG_6112.webp Got an email from mlife today for a tier match Tunica gold strike. Is this new thing offered and anyone know if the tier match would work in Vegas? They use the same mlife card. I haven't been to gold strike in awhile but plan on going end of next month I'll have to check it out, just wondering if anyone knew anything.

I haven't checked for it, but Emerald at Boyd's and Diamond at CET. Anyone know if this tier match would get me in their VIP lounge? Do they even have a VIP lounge? I am heading to Biloxi this week for a work trip and we have rooms at Beau Rivage, do they have a VIP lounge? I wonder if I could use it there. And that brings me to one of my gripes about MGM, and the reason I never considered them to play at, because they are very mysterious with their VIP lounges.

That thing is a joke. They should be ashamed of that offer.

Terrible.

I was actually looking at my calendar to plan a trip there ( I had once been Noir, then Plat and now... )

Just like most things MGM does, they care very little for the gambler. With that being said, I guess that's why they are profitable and CET is not!

I was at Gold Strike a couple of weeks ago and took advantage of this. Being TR Diamond, I was bumped up to Pearl for MLife. I had been Pearl until the end if Sept when everybody has to start over again. It really isn't more than a psychological thing in the long run versus VET's Diamond benefits. But, I can now look down on those low-lifes who haven't reached Pearl status in all it's glory!

Well, I have to ask, "What do you expect?"

IMHO, Pearl is appropriate for Base Diamond level.

DAL1 would be gold, and DAL2 would be equivalent to Platinum.

Since DAL1 and DAL2 are difficult to determine, mLife just does the simplest thing (for them)

The benefits at mLife aren't all that good anyway, IMO (as a former Platinum and current 7*)

I don't "expect" them to do anything, something is always better than nothing. But I guess my point is base Diamond is useful at CET properties, while Pearl is every bit as useless as not even having a card at MGM properties. So in that respect it's not much of a "tier match". I am too lazy to do the math regarding coin in per level, anyone done that already? But as you pointed out....Most of MGMs tiers are worthless compared to total rewards, which is one of the main reasons I don't play there. That and their VP bar doesn't have a single machine on it without broken buttons lol.

I am DAL2 at CET - could have reached 7Stars but decided that was a badge of dis-honor I did not want. (explain to wife how much of degenerate I really am)

Anyways, as a former NOIR, then PLAT at Mlife I was a bit short for Plat last year. As you indicated, it does not mean too much but it helped with lounge access, reservations. Not much.

I just looked up the levels and realized the Pearl they are offering is less than Gold. Pretty much nothing.

As said, these levels mean very little and you would think the marketing group would try to bump people up to get more gambling money out of them. Wrong. Pretty much like the illogical reason to give less points on theme or licensed slots. Yes, I know they have to pay a percentage to someone for those. It would be way better to just lower the payout on them which would be hidden to the customer. Instead, they just pi$$ off the customer by lower the points. Apparently a finance decision vs marketing.

Already Pearl at Mlife so no matter I guess. Still plan on going to Tunica for a night or 2 during spring break. Taking the kids to Memphis and a stop at Tunica.

Pearl level gets you free self-parking in LV, and Gold gets you free valet parking. Pearl DOES get you a spearate line for buffet entry in LV. Those are the only "privileges" that I find useful.

I haven't been to Tunica yet (one of my next trips) but will try to make a comparison at that time.

Base coin in for Diamond at CET is $15K (based on two 2500TC days). By my very rough calculations, base coin in for mLife Pearl is (using LV numbers is $7500, and Gold is $22,500). mLife (outside of LV) imposes substantial "penalties", which de-incentivizes to me to play there.

This exactly... Incintives in Tunica (which is where this program is) is pretty pathetic for Pearl, actually VERY pathetic.

Adding to the coin in, if you take 100% advantage of tier bonuses at CET, it is still twice as expensive to obtain diamond as the tier MGM is "matching" you to, that's pretty weak sauce in my opinion. If you did not take advantage of bonuses, they are matching you to a tier that is 4 times cheaper to obtain. Not much of a match lol, but I'm sure they will get some players from it, which is their objective....Just won't get me :)

Since Gold Strike is the only MGM property in Tunica, they don't need to do any better than this. Either you visit GS or the two CET properties next to it, or go to various other single affiliation properties in the area. It is a 300 mile trip to get to Beau Rivage, the next closest MGM property where your Pearl level won't get any or much more. Marketing Departments...always looking out for us, right?

I really don't think it's a scam, it's just not a big deal. The freeplay for doing it is kinda nice but the free parking in Vegas would be the only thing that benefits me. Are the other places in Vegas that tier match giving out more than this deal? Just curious.

Not a scam at all. For those that do not spend time at Gold Strike, this might get them in the door. And, the freeplay keeps them for a few minutes. Good idea to move some of htoe folks over. In all reality, if a Horseshow regular is at Diamond, they probably already spend time at Gold Strike. As to the other casinos, not so much.

I think the offer is total crap for me, but for some others it might be good.

But, not a scam.

Not a scam, just insignificant, other than the free play. If it is their goal to get a player in the house, use free play then maybe burn a couple extra hundred before heading back nextdoor then they will likely be pleased with this marketing. If their goal is to gain new regulars then I just don't see it happening. This gives me zero reason to spend a minute in that place when I am not using the free play.

I was happy to get Pearl status and $50. Gold Strike is the nicest joint in Tunica and I hate paying for parking in Vegas. I plan to park at each MGM property at least once next time I go.....without gambling a nickle in any of them.
