Title says it all...except the time of day.
I'll be down there to see it. I watched the Sands go down years ago.

    It’s about damn time!

The real question is, what will be done with that piece of prime real estate?

My only trip to AC was at this place. I was underage at the time. I did hit for $250 before security saw me.....memories....

I am really curious what is going to replace it because you can't get more prime real estate than that in AC. I wish I could be there for the implosion. I haven't seen one of those since the Stardust in Vegas in 2007.

Oh thank goodness. It's such an eyesore now. Be nice if something useful went there. Never stayed there but ate there often.

I recently stopped and had a brief chat with one of the workers on the site, the big excavator with the shear was shipped to another demolition site, but it’s supposed to return in a couple weeks. Below is a photo of the machine that can snap the steel frame like a hot knife through butter, this has a 100' boom. The parking garage will remain as will the building that houses the Rainforest Cafe which is still operating.

This building was the former Holiday Inn and was bought by Penthouse in the 1970's and was supposed to be connected to the Penthouse Casino, until Bob Guccione ran out of money. Eventually the Holiday Inn was sold it to the Trump organization and it was connected to the Plaza. A fun fact, until about a year ago, the land under the building was not owned, but Leased for $1 Million rent a year. Carl Icahn finally bought the land so it would make the empty lot easier to sell.

Here is a link to an aerial shot of the Plaza.

As for what becomes of this piece of land, there was talk of extending the Tanger Outlet to the boardwalk, but I don't think that will happen. It is adjacent to Boardwalk Hall, so maybe the Casino Reinvestment and Development Authority will buy it and land bank it. I don't see another casino being built given the current market conditions plus sports betting is coming to New York along with a casino.

Here is an updated photo courtesy of The Press of Atlantic City. The implosion has been moved to February, the new date has not been announced.

However, one generous donor will get the pleasure of pushing the button to commence the implosion. The current high bid is $172,500 and proceeds will go towards the Boys and Girls Club of AC.

Only $55,000 now, maybe someone didn't have the dough.
Great they are using to raise money for a charity.
