Should I stop in?
Any swag or free play for new club members?

I will be passing by on the WAX & it occurred to me that there might be something of interest there.

Any opinions?

There is some kind of sign-up free spin/swipe thing where you get something, I have no idea what the range of value is for it.

I think the rooms are decent and I think the food is actually pretty good if you're not looking for something fancy. The video poker is better than most of the strip. I consider it a solid mid-range strip option.

There is a promotion (contest?) where you earn stars and they are giving away trips until March 31st. So I would at least sign up for a card so you can do the online entries for watching videos etc. And you get entries for earning 100 tier credits in a day. http://www.marqueerewards.com/WalkOfFame I did the 100 points fairly easily, and the machines weren't eating my money. I find it kind of blah there though. But to spend an hour or two there and get a card and maybe some points it is fine.

I stayed 3 nights at the Trop on my last trip and have to say that there is nothing really worth making a detour for, the high end food offerings were good, the others solidly mediocre. As for Decor, atmosphere, sights, etc there really is nothing to make it stand out. Unless you are trying to generate a future offer I would Pass.

Not sure if they are giving the same things out but the last time I remember them giving out a form which gives new signups a free deck of cards. I remember them having a slot machine pull either down in the area near the escalators or up by upstairs entrance (the one on the bridge over from MGM. They gave out the form/paper with the free deck of cards.

One time I went into the casino but the line to get the freebies was too long so I passed on it.

Tropicana was the pits a decade back. Their basic rooms when i last stayed there was like staying at Circus Circus but 10 more years from now.

After their recent renovations, the place actually looks like a place i would be comfortable in. However, as others have stated, not a place worth stopping for.

We signed up for the player's club on our last visit.
My bride and I both "won" a free pop (soda) at the Tropicana Beach Café!
Gave us something to sip while waiting to see Raiding the Rock Vault!

It's a decent place, nice pool. I like the smaller casino where you can actually tell someone you'll meet them in the casino and actually find them. Worth going out of your way for? No.

I couldn't stand the old Trop. It was depressing to be there.

After the remodel, I played there a few times and enjoyed it. (It didn't hurt that it acted like my personal ATM!)

On our next trip, I called and asked for a host. He comped 3 nites with no problems. (I play $25 min bj and spread up to $200 if on a good run.)

I've stayed there a few times since, and we love the place. The rooms are nice and clean. Some rooms have balconies. If you are comped, there are no resort fees.

The bj rules are decent and the dealers and pit personnel are fun. My wife can actually win on their slots. (Last trip she had $50 fp and never got into our br. She worked it up to almost $500 and left up $80.)

We also like that we can easily find each other in the casino.

I've stayed extensively on the south end of the strip for years but never stumbled in there until my September trip last year. As others have said, it's pretty unremarkable. The casino feels old, it has that Caesars Palace multiple-room, maze-y sort of feel to it, even though it's small. Low ceilings which is a shock if you're used to the newer resorts. Felt a little bit like being in a 60's time warp to me. Minimal bar options.

I picked up a player's card but don't really have any intention of going back. Put in a few hundie at the slots but have gotten literally NO email marketing from them at all.

Just kinda...forgettable.

Add me into the "not worth your time" camp. I stayed there on a host comp. I had a very nice room and the pool looks nice and big. But I would never stay there again. I played a lot and the bounce back offers were worthless to me. The casino is very small and it gets boring very fast. Their new theme is "white" BTW. In other words, nothing to see. Just a handful of stores and many older slots. I stayed on a weekend for 2 days and there was never many gamblers in there even though I did see a lot of people going to and from their rooms.

Seems like not much more than a cheaper place to sleep while you gamble and explore much better options near by.

We stayed there our first trip to Vegas about 5 years ago. If you are just looking for a clean room to sleep in this one might fit your bill. But beyond that the rest of it was pretty unremarkable.

When I stopped in in June 2015 I did not think anything good about it, was a waste of my time.

Penn National closed on it in late 2015 and has plans to put about 100 million in renovations into it. They promote it at all of their "locals" casinos and are sending quite a few offers out to Marquee rewards members for free stays trying to generate revenue there.
