Except for #6, not specifically tied to "Fremont" (although, that is where I always stay), but these things are traditional for me:
    1. Buy in at a blackjack table where I'm staying, as soon as I get checked in & my bag dropped off in the room.
    2. Fire up the "first cigarette" of the trip. (I only smoke in Vegas, and even there, primarily only while gambling).
    3. I always manage to play Keno at least once (always 'pick-8').
    4. First drink is always a gin & tonic.
    5. Sometime on the first day, I play $100 on what we call "a Jeffrey bet" on UTH (named after my kid): $15 ante, $15 blind, $10 Trips & $60 'Play'... played blind.
    6. At some point - Pizza Rock!
    7. At some point, Prime Rib somewhere.

Going to the Market St Cafe at the Cal and getting the Oxtail stew (NOT soup) that's a daily special on Fridays. Did not have a Vegas trip in 2020 because of the virus. Hopefully they still have this as a Friday special when I go this year in October.

Always a toast to my wife's Uncle David at the Vue Bar. He loved that place....back in the Fitzgeralds days.

My newer traditions are a Jefe at Banger and at least one meal at Pizza Rock. Both are beyond delish.

I usually go get the oxtail soup at the market st. café but the last couple of times I was unimpressed because there was so much fat in the meat.

But I do get my prime rib special whenever in vegas. good price, plus salad bar and dessert. Hmmm, wonder if they got rid of the all you can eat salad bar because of covid, maybe just give you a salad plate instead?

    No chocolate covered twinkie?

Salad bar is history, at least for now.
They never reopened it after the covid shut down last year.

Darn, I left a couple things off...:D I do love the Cal Prime Rib, and no twinkie, but yes to the hot dogs! I guess my only traditions left are stopping at Lee's Liquor after the car rental center, then stopping at the AM/PM by the Trop after Lee's Liquor.... Those will probably be gone next week.

All complaining aside, that is one of the things I love about Vegas, the constant change and new things to do and see, so I guess I need to accept the retirement of traditions.

Unpack everything in the room and grab a few bits from the Rush Tower shop.

Then in the scooter and straight to Claude's Bar, for a few Raspberry Stolis with my boy Kelly:cool:

Yeah, I think when I had the prime rib in December they gave you a plate of salad. I will confirm this when I get to the cal in May.

I’m not a big downtown fan, but those have become my downtown must-dos.

I’m pretty sure he’s referring to things that aren’t available anymore.

I think there is a 99 cent shrimp cocktail special at the Fremont. Probably at the lanai.

Yes, at least last time I was there they still had them at the Fremont. I have never cared for it though. I gave up on the Lanai, cannot say that I have ever gotten anything good there. A couple years ago was the final straw when I had biscuits and gravy. Did not think you could go wrong there, but I was wrong. It was awful.

I heard if you go to... somewhere at Circa or The D and mention the You Can Bet on That podcast they will give you the 99 cent shrimp cocktail.

Ha ha. But the lanai was better than the dunkin donuts next door. Was close to midnight and I wanted a snack so bought a donut but it turned to be totally stale, after taking a bite I threw it away. Unfortunately I was blocks away when I found this out so didn't want to waste my time going back to complain.

Haha, that is funny. Their main item, bad. I have to say I do not like their iced or frappe type coffee either.

How the hell do you mess up biscuits and gravy? That's pretty bad.
