    My Trip Report

You know your trip is coming close when you collect your US currency!

I'm flying out on 01st July from the UK with Virgin. First Class from Manchester and will be staying at the Rio for just over two weeks.

Have obtained Diamond Status to avoid the Resort Fees so will fit in the 2 free show tickets (as am solo) and the $100 Celebration Dinner somehow. Will also be able to use the Diamond Check-in and bypass the lines.

Have pre-registered for the Main Event and have the $3k NLH and $1.1k little one for one drop as back ups if I bust the Main. Also the Daily Deepstacks.

Am going to try and post a live TR with photos along the way.

Have cashed a total of $20,000 on Party Poker over the last 3 months so that is this trip and the tourney entry fees covered (which was the aim). Got some live practice in in Dublin where I just missed out on cashing and also at the WSOP-C event in Nottingham where I cashed for £1,500.

Just need to keep a cool head...especially in Day 1/2 when the stacks are deep. And remind myself not to get too married to AA/KK in the early stages of the ME.

Am really looking forward to the experience.

I envy you and all those who are smart enough, young enough, brave enough and risk tolerant enough to play tournament poker at a high level. I am none of those. My daughter is a math genius and plays high stakes cash games, but she does not like the grind of tournaments and chip stack calculations.

Good luck. We look forward to a trip report with a picture of you behind an enormous stack of cash and a bracelet.

Not so young. (Unfortunately). Cash games I'm not great at. But Tournaments I love. It's more the challenge of outlasting and getting to the final table than the money. But maybe that comes from my competitive business background. I'm fortunately financially secure so that takes the pressure of stumping up the buyin off and also means I'm not really under pressure at Bubble time so can exploit those that are.

Ofcourse if I can make it into day 5 or beyond then the ladder-ups start to play a more important role.

The packing has started! Including of course, that great British institution: PG Tips teabags. Together with travel kettle and thermos and my favourite mug. So I can sit at the tables and enjoy a nice cup of tea! :) Taxi booked for 08:45 Monday morning to the Airport.

Haha, glad to see my wife and I aren’t the only one to bring dishes to Vegas. We still have a set of plastic bowls in the travel drawer and used to travel with those, plastic utensils and stuff for eating in the room (particularly breakfast). Now we are more lazy and don’t want to pack as much so disposable bowls and utensils are only the Vegas Walmart list.

Good luck in the Tourney and please keep us posted!

Lol. Am out there for just over 2 weeks so want to be self sufficient as probably won't be arsed to get myself from my Rio room down to get breakfast that often. Only 'supplies' I'll need to buy is milk. Have an All American Daves meal plan booked as well. So will supplement that with some of the Rio's own 'fine' offerings.

Travel day has arrived! The local taxi company sent a nice AMG Mercedes for my ride to Manchester Airport. Currently sat in the Private Lounge. Boarding in just over an hours time.

Reasons to check-in early!: Sir you are in seat 4c. No I'm not. I'm in seat 3a. Sorry sir we have had a plane change. Erm..No you haven't, that's an Upper Class seating plan on your screen for an A330-200. Same plane and you only have 4 of them and they're the refurbed ex-Air Berlin ones. So I'm not moving and here's my Confirmation from last November which clearly says seat 3a! (I had done my research and reserved the best single seat in the Upper Class cabin and no way are you moving me to a worse aisle seat to get bumped and interupted in). Nice try Virgin. Let me make a phone call sir. Yes you are now still in seat 3a. (There are only 18 seats in UpperClass on an A330-200 so it will be interesting to see if there is a celeb onboard who tried to steal my seat).
