Trip Report Rules/Guidelines

Just a reminder post of the rules in the first post in this thread. We've also added a section about posted photos to the guidelines.

Photos
Please respect other people’s privacy. Do not post photos of people you do not know. If you are going to post photos of friends or people you meet at a VMB get together, please make sure you have explicit permission to post a recognizable photo. It's also preferred that you are in the photo with those people.

Generally, people in the background aren't that big of a deal, but we'd prefer photos of "strangers" not be posted (especially without their knowledge or consent) or they are given the same amount of privacy as others in the photo (if altered.)
 
I skimmed through this and didnt' see a rule about it, was planning a TR on our trip this weekend but planned on hitting a dispensary for the first time. Is that content banned? Don't want to ruffle any feathers.

I'm not trying to find a work-around to avoid the reports. They are part of the joy of being a forum admin. I just wanted to minimize the number of times I get a report and have to say, "Uh.. yeah, okay."

Basically don't take pictures or describe using your goodies you pick up at the store. A passing comment saying "we went to X and picked up some supplies," gets the point across.

If you have questions before said trip to the store, just post those in the After Dark section.
 
Would posting a YouTube video alongside a trip report be okay? I’d love to share our vlog stuff, but don’t want to impose on the rules. I’d still write a report here for sure

Nothing wrong with posting YouTube video along with a trip report. As long as it's not just a link to the video by itself, including it inside a written TR isn't an issue. The ones where someone just posts the video by itself, we typically remove those.

Those fall under this category.

I assume the use of an AI (eg chat gpt, google Gemini) to enhance your TR introduction is within the rules ok?

As long as the trip report is real and not a fabrication of AI, you're good.
 
How long do Trip Reports stay open for comments? I started a thread on May 5 that is already closed.

Old trip reports get closed once the user starts a new trip report. It's so everyone gets a chance for others to read their most current trip report.
 
@Sonya @SH0CK (Tagging as I am effectively asking for a rule change)

With the new software now allowing what feels like unlimited photos per post, although I actually think it is 50 or 100, can we make a slight rule change on the board that if you wish to post more than say, 10 pictures in the same post, then you have to use the SPOILER tag so that anyone who wants to look at lots of pictures can do so, and others who prefer the written word can skip them?

This should hopefully speed up the loading of certain pages as well as you don't have to wait for every picture to load.
