    My Trip Report

Trip Report - Planet Hollywood – Dec 3-7

A little background first, we are married, in our 40’s, and this is our 5th trip to Vegas. We go to Vegas mostly for the shows, but, do enjoy playing the slots.

    Day 1
We arrived at Planet Hollywood on Monday night around 11pm. Tried the $20 trick, and asked for a renovated room. After searching for a few minutes, she apologized and said that their was none available. She said to come back after 11 the next morning, and that we could switch rooms. We took our luggage to the room, it faced the strip, and we would have likely stayed their, but, on the wall overlooking the bed, was a mask from the movie “Legendâ€. This mask appeared to be part pig, part human and very hairy. Overall it was just too freaky and it seemed to be staring right at you. Instantly, we knew we would be switching rooms. (Really what are they thinking putting a mask like that in a room!)
Went down to the casino, and was bombarded by time share people. Before I knew it, I was signed up to go on a tour the next morning at 9am with the promise of “Stomp†tickets for attending.
Finished the night by playing slots and checking out the PH casino. I would have to say that this is one of the hippest casinos on the strip, and a lot of fun.

    Day 2
Attended the time share presentation, it wasn’t bad. Worth the time, as we wouldn’t have been doing much at that time anyways. Got our Stomp tickets.
We went down to the lobby and switched rooms to a renovated room. It was well worth the effort, and this time got a “The Leading Man†theme room. It had Jon Bon Jovi photos on the wall, so I think that my wife enjoyed that a little more than the Legend room.
Spent the rest of the day checking out casinos on the strip, and having a few drinks along the way. We watched the fountains at the Bellagio, and can say that we never get tired of watching these.
Had supper at the Spice Market buffet. We really like the assortment, and they had plenty of King Crab that I enjoyed.
Finished the day by going to KA at the MGM. I would have to say, without a doubt, that this show is the best show I have ever seen. I was blown away by everything from the cast, to the stage effects. I have seen a few other shows in Vegas (including Mystere), but, this one has topped them all.

    Day 3
Spent most of the day shopping at the Premium Outlet Mall. We were very happy with the assortment of stores, and the bags of merchandise we purchased, proved it.
Stopped by TI to watch the Sirens of TI show, but, it was closed down for renovations. So… maybe next time.
Finished the night by attending the Stomp show at the PH. I’m not sure what it was, but by half way into the show, I was falling asleep. No matter what I did I couldn’t stay awake. It looked like a lot of people were enjoying the show, but, I guess it wasn’t my thing. My wife didn’t really care for it either, although she was able to stay awake.

    Day 4
We spent the day at a few Casinos, playing slots and having a few drinks. Went to Hooters and got free tickets to “Bonk†the game show. This show was hilarious, and we really had fun. I ended up being a contestant, but, never won. Got a $100 free slot play at Hooters, but it didn’t turn out to be much more than a slot tourney. Oh well… still had fun.
Walked down to the Venetian and ate at the Gran Lux Cafe. It was a great meal, and would highly recommend this place. Its very inexpensive also.
We had Front row tickets to the Phantom of the Opera. This is the first show that I have had front row tickets, and I believe that it was a good call. The show was really good, and even though we had seen the traveling version of this show, we enjoyed this more, as the theatre is designed for the show.
Finished the night by donating some more cash to several casinos along the way back the PH.

    Day 5
Got up at 4am to catch our 6am flight out of Vegas. Really, I don’t know why I booked such an early flight, but… I did. Went and grabbed a taxi and told him to take us to the airport. It looked like he was going to take a long way their, so I said “No Tunnelâ€, and the driver flipped out on us. He started screaming that I was calling him a thief, and then stopped the car, shut it off, and said to get out. Luckily we were able to calm him down, and he started up the car and took us to the airport (although we broke several traffic laws along the way). I should have gotten his taxi number and reported him, but, I just wanted to get out of their and on my way home.

So that’s it…. Except for the “Legend†room, and a Psycho taxi driver, the trip was great. I would stay at the PH again in a flash; we really liked the room, the location and the casino. The mall attached is good and there is several restaurants close by.

    Till next year……..

Thanks for the report. That's so weird about the cab driver. I've never had a cab driver try to long trip me when leaving for the airport. I always figured if they question my unwillingness to take the tunnel I'd just tell them I'm claustrophobic and tunnels make me freak out and try to kill whomever I happen to be around :evillaugh

How does having anything like that hanging in a room seem like a good idea?

    The Mask

Attached is a photo of the mask that was in the room.
Also one other note, the taxi driver didn't long haul us. He just took us a route I wasn't familiar with, the fare in the end was less than $15. I was just upset at the way he treated us for questioning his route.
