    My Trip Report

I was in Las Vegas the last week of Feb for my birthday. I thought for sure I could get free crap from the downtown hotels. However, I didn't get ANYTHING! I went to the customer service counters at most of the casinos, presented my card, and was told they had nothing for me. No buffets, no keychains, not even a used deck of blackjack cards. A bit of a dissappointment.
This was my 10th trip to Las Vegas & for the 8th time I stayed @ the Fitzgeralds. The rates are cheap, the rooms are clean, and you can get a good view if your room is on one of the upper floors. The casino is OK, but for gaming, I prefer the El Cortez, Plaza, Golden Nugget, Golden Gate, and most of the other downtown casinos.
I did venture out to the Strip a few times. Lost at dice @ Bally's & Paris, then won it all back playing VP at both places. Lost at Barbary Coast, Caesars, & Frontier. Won $40 shooting dice @ LV Hilton, then gave it back to their roulette table. I also won a free polo shirt @ the Riviera. Signed up for the Westward Ho players card & got $1 off their All American Meal in their coffee shop. The meal is a big burger, fries, and choice of beverage or milkshake. I had a strawberry milkshake.
I ate at the El Cortez a few times & the food was pretty good & the price was right. The $1.75 breakfast special is great: 2 eggs, 2 slices of toast, 2 pieces of bacon or sausage, and hash browns. The also have a $5.95 T-bone steak. The Las Vegas Club has delicious prime rib in The Dugout, and I had the $3.99 1/2 baked chicken dinner @ the Golden Gate.
Also at the Golden Gate I had the greatest craps run of my life. I was down to my last $9 after buying in for $20 when this couple came to the table. The wife started rolling the dice & the table caught fire. When I came to the table I was the only player there & it was $3 min. When she ender her roll, the min had been raised to $5 and the table was packed. When it was all over, after tipping the crew, I cashed out with $625.00! It saved my trip!
Another cool thing happened at the Plaza. I had lost at either a blackjack or craps table & I was down to 2 $1 chips. I walked by a roulette wheel & put a doller on 17 & a dollar on 22. Sure enough, black 17 hit. Later that night at Main Street Station, the same thing happened, except I had $4 in dollar tokens, so placed $2 each on 17 & 22. Black 17 hit again!
Back at the Plaza, I was down to one 50 cent piece so I went to the cashier and asked for 10 nickels. I was tapped out & didn't feel like walking back to the Fitz to get more traveler's checks. I went to a multi-hand VP machine and got that $ .50 upt to $17, but then lost it.
The whole trip I was not having any luck at VP or 21. I played way too much 10 and 50 hand video poker. But what really made it depressing was at the 21 tables. I couldn't win consective hands to save my life! Never got a streak, was usually finished after 7 or 8 hands. The felt must have had ice under it becasue the tables were frigid! My new motto for future trips: NO MORE $1 SLOTS. I would feel much better about myself losing $60 or $80 at a dice table rather than feeding $20 bills into a damn Wheel of Fortune machine. I only got to spin the stupid wheel once during my trip!
Anyway, I am going back June 11-14. I got to get back on the horse. I will stay at either the Fitz, Gold Spike, or El Cortez, unless MSS or Westward Ho sends any offers for free rooms.

    Trips to Las Vegas:
Nice run, ECND. I know where about 150 or so of what you picked up at the Gate came from. But ya gotta love breakfast at Careful Kitty's!
