Wow, where to begin - too much booze, large group & lack of sleep makes for confusion. So please understand if my menory is spotty. But, here goes: This was a family trip for me, hubby, 2 daughters, 2 s-i-l's & 2 friends. We also had 2 other friends in town at same time to see. 6 of us flew into Altanta & met up with the daughter & s-i-l from Texas. We were able to get on the same plane to LV - not sure how we got so lucky! We arrived about 8pm, got bags & went in search of Alejandro's Texas grill. Daughter in Texas is a career Navy wife & one of her doctors who just got back from Iraq is the CEO of this restaurant chain. He has not been home to LV in 2 years & wanted pics of the Wynn & Ferarri dealership. She told him she would be glad to take some pics for him & he gave her his business card & wrote on back for the staff at the restaurant to comp our entire group. We found it easily & had a feast. Great food & service - all reasonably priced. Even with several beers the total for all 8 of us was $150+ with a automatic tip added. We left another $25 tip & were off for a week of craziness! Saw Rupert from Suvivor who had just arrived as well. Walked outside & right in front of us was a huge Cad Excursion Limo. Before we left we decided to take a shuttle since we were going to 2 different hotels & some wanted to save the extra cash for gambling. BUT, it was sitting right there waiting for us. When someone asked how much - $10 each & would gladly take us to both places - can't argue with that & what a way to get there! The driver was Brad - what a great guy - he was loads of fun & would recommend asking for him on your next trip. He dropped off 6 of us to check our bags as the Paris & took the other 2 up to the Frontier. We were doing an all nighter so we went to Bellagio to meet up with the others. Not sure if we would do that again - we were ok until about 6 am & then we would have done almost anything for a shower & bed. Paris let us check in about 9am since we are repeat customers & had 2 free nites & other perks. We even got a fountain view with the baloon & tower too. We were happy campers - got cleaned up, rested for an hour or so & we were off. Everyone wanted to play a cheap hold'em tournament since we are at various levels of play. So we went to Orleans & had a ball at a $22 game. One s-i-l made the final table but not in the $. We all had a great time & at at the Orleans buffet. They all really liked it for the $ but I thought it really was not as good as usual. We walked over to the Rio & enjoyed the Masquerade & the casino in general. Later, went downtown to meet up with other friends staying at the Fitz. Saw the light show for the 1st time & it was great but we are not fans of downtown so did not stay long. Monday - had everyone meet up at Paris to treat them to the breakfast buffet. It was as wonderful as I remembered. Some of the kids did not know what some of the stuff was & they were not as adventurious as I am with food. They all enjoyed it though. We then did the hop - going from casino to casino showing them as much as possible on the south end. Later that evening 4 of them as free meals at Gilley's at Frontier & the other 4 went to Kahunaville with rest.com coupons for $25 off $35. It was really good but tooo loud in there. We all met up later to go most of night. Tuesday - headed north, Venetian, Wynn, TI, Mirage etc. Won some lost some - enjoying it all. Purple Reign was back at the Boardwalk after a vacation. Many of the group went & had a great time - they are really good but the place is a DIVE! All coins & dirty. It is a scarry place. While at Caesars everyone decided they were hungry. We went to that food court type place & hubby & I found this fish restaurant & had lobster chowder - it was delish - wish we could have brought some home. Wed - Before the Indiana kids went home mid day everyone wanted to go to the Hard Rock to play a little & get souveniers. I was able to win one of the silver coins to add to my collection. I think I have about 10 now. The Texas kids & us moved to the LVH while the others headed home. With the hurricane heading toward their home on the gulf in Texas - they were getting worried. S-I-L is career Navy & in charge of emergency detail at his base in Kingsville. He was in constant phone contact with them & finally decided to go home on Thurs instead of waiting till the regular day of Friday - Rita was due to hit then. Delta was great about the flight changes & did not charge them to do it. In the afternoon we took the monorail down to Bally's for hubby to play in the poker pit (something he did for at least a couple of hours each day). We heard that a card hit many people on the strip. Alot of rumors were flying around & the next day read in the paper that this 26 yr old scumbag beat his grandmother unconscious & stole her car. While driving down the strip he saw the tourist as "demons" & decided to kill as many as he could. The strip was at a standstill & many of the casinos had the doors leading to the strip block as to not add to the confusion out there. We heard sirens all night. 1 person died that night & another the next day. He is being charged with 2 counts of murder & many of attempted murder. They say witness will be brought in from many different countries to testify. I hope he never gets out of jail alive. Those people never knew what hit them. How sad. Thursday - Texas kids left & got to San Antonio - had to rent a car to get home & also had to take the car back the next day. They were either in an airport or on the road in massive traffic jams about 24 hours. What a mess. I felt so sorry for them. Hubby & were on our own for the next day and a half. We went to the Bellagio & I decided to get on a nickle machine that I have never heard of "All that glitters" since my video poker was not doing me very good at all. I had several hits of 100 - 300 coins when it flashed up there 5000 coins! It wasn't even a bonus & I was just playing 15x1. I cashed out at $484! It was my biggest win of the trip - how sad is that - but it was a win. Friday - we check out, stored our bags with the bell captain & headed out for our last day. Went to the Wynn & took pics for the good doctor. Hubby got in one last round at Bally's poker room. He was actually way up on hold'em but lost on the slots. We got to the airport around 8pm for our 10:20 flight. Hubby has a defibulator & the airline must have put something in the conputer because the 1st security person who looked at our tickets & sent us to the VIP line where there were only about 6 people in line. We were able to bypass the long lines & we were thru in about 5 minutes. Well, another fantastic trip is over until next Sept - boooooo! Wish we could go more often. Great about this trip: Sharing it with our kids for the 1st time & just being together Paris breakfast buffet (as usual) Free rooms at Paris split crab legs at Paris dinner buffet surprising win at Bellagio Brad & Presidentail Limo Dealertainers at IP - kids loved them No so great: Orleans lunch buffet (wasn't bad just not as good as before) Bally's Big Kitchen buffet - waste of time, money & calories Texas kids having to leave early & experiencing such a mess with the hurricane. Thanks for reading --- we are already starting our coundown to Sept 2006!
