    My Trip Report

Arrived McCarran 15-30 no 4th July specials on the virgin flight from UK guess we still want your tax, something about taxation without representation? So pick up the hire car from dollar pre pay so no sales try on, jeeps on offer but took a cavalier with 170 miles turned out to be a fine choice. Off to green valley, check-in smooth (unlike last visit room was not ready even though the host had booked the arrival time, still was not ready after the hour we where asked to wait receptionist seemed more frightened of housekeeping than us). Room was 3rd floor, smoking, facing the strip but a view was mainly the palm tree directly outside the window. Room is excellent, web access via cordless keyboard and TV or direct laptop hook-up (sorry cannot remember speed). Much is made of the down comforters and pillows both of which were fine, walk in glass shower v-nice (the other half was not so keen on the glass) TV speaker in the bathroom ok would prefer radio myself separate wc only accessible through bathroom all still feels new and well appointed but not sure the staff can keep it at this level. Sorry only the other half gambels so not much information, she seems to like it came out about even but feels trapped, a drive is needed to go anywhere else. Pool, beach and reception areas all nice but too hot this time of year for us. Food was a problem bull shrimp is as excellent for steak but ran out of things to try, buffet we where not impressed just ok, had a steak in the original house of pancakes only just ok expect much better from Vegas all eateries franchised except buffet. Tried the buffet at gold coast as we liked it a lot last visit but disappointed this time may just have been an unfortunate timing but was busy and food not up to normal standard.
After 5 days on to harrahs or as my partner says back home for 3 days. After GVR bed and pillow not very good guess we did this the wrong way round but booking the 4th July at short notice was not easy. Harrahs busy a lot of traffic in casino also hotel seemed full ac in gvr , harrahs and the car only just coping. Drove out to prim to do some shopping don’t know why we never buy anything but it was a day out I guess. Range steak was better than last time but still preferred bull shrimp, garden café ok but food always arrives cold.
So last 2 days at harrahs Laughlin could only get a 4th floor room as busy, kc & sunshine band on Saturday, lucky as it happened (we normally get a high to get away from ac noise) about 16-30 electric storm took the power out, 3 mins for the slots to power up but 3 hours till the hotel rooms got power so the stairs to the 4th floor was easy. Sat morning semi shifted its load at the start of casino drive by the bridge so traffic was getting warm in the very long queue how the police stood that heat directing the traffic was impressive.
Sat night another storm must have forced the sunshine band inside. Steak house closed for reverb, about time. late night specials in 24 hour café ok buffet ok nothing special here ether. Sunday back to McCarran, dollar try to charge for fuel BE CAREFUL they charged the cc had a row and was told to go inside to sort it, refunded the cc right away did not seem surprised. Fly back the uk spend the unpleasant tube ride home asking each other why we booked a return flight. O well if u don’t leave u can’t look forward to going back (I don’t think that helps). lol nickm
