    My Trip Report

Hi all and greetings from the UK.

Just back from 11 days in the states,7 of which were in good old vegas.
    sporadic notes are below.

Flights- direct from london to LAS with Virgin, great flights, great service and nice to fly dirct to LV. Also had an early entry for my "holiday Muppet" award, the guy who decided to drink 1 of his bottles of duty free vodka before he landed, then spent the time in the immigration queue arguing with his partner, using very loud and obnoxious language.I was right in front of him and he smelt like a brewers beard, and if it wasn't for the fact that we were in the immigration line things could of got nasty as the guy behind him was getting slightly miffed with he languague. How he got through i'll never know but he was last seen swaying in the taxi line as his parter and the rest of thee group had abandoned him.(prat)

Car Hire- Full size from Alamo, last time i use these guys, they wouldn't know customer service it it jumped up and slapped them in the face, but the car was nice. Another entry for holiday muppet was me not filling the car up before i returned it, nice going idiot boy !

Hotel's 1 night at Texas station (i love this place), 3 nights at Sunset and after 4 days in southern cal 3 nights at Luxor. Texas was great, very comfy beds, easy to navigate and i won a bundle of dough.Sunset is my favourite place, we had 1 night free through the ACG coupon and i think the total bill for 4 over 3 nights was less than $200, great value. Luxor was excellent aswell, my wife enjoyed the spa, good all round service and 1 night comped through the clearing out my one club comps made a nice end to the trip.

Food- I won't bore you with many details here as we don't go for all the fanct restauarants as we were with the kids, but Blueberry Hill has got to be one of the top 5 places for breakfast in vegas, the pancakes and waffles were superb. Also enjoyed the memphis championship bar-b-que once more but i found the new feast buffet at sunset slightly disapointing, maybe i am wrong but the selection seems smaller than before.

Gambling- well i should have come home after the 1st day I left texas with $1500 of their money after about 2 hours inthe place. I had woke up early on the first moring with the usual jet lag, gone downstairs and sat down at deuces wild, within 10 mins hit the 4 2's after holding only 1. Then played a supertimes pay machine that just kept hitting and i was up another $250 , then sat down to play deuces wild on one of the optimum payout machines near the kids quest.Played for only 5 mins when i was dealt a wild royal with only 1 2.Sat there for 5 mins thinking do i don't I, in the end held the 4 to the royal and up comes the lady I needed to fill out for $1000. What a start. Unfortunately what I didn't know was that was it for the week vitually. I din't get killed anywhere more a very slow bleed, very few 4OAK, nothing on the tables, and only 1 more 4 2's on the last day.But hey that was what I went for and it's all part of the fun, however I did n't come home with any of vegas's money this time.

    Final Thoughts-
How do your feet survive vegas ? I've been back 4 days and mine are still killing me !!
Watching drunks trying to get on walkways/escalators could be come an interesting pastime when you are up early and clean and sober.
2 hours stuck on the I15 for about 2 miles of roadworks sucks bigtime.
empty casinos are wierd, walked in the xouthcoast/point on my last day and all the machines were down as they were swapping over from coast to point, very very erie.
I'm missing the place already !

    Next Trip
well after 18 trips in 10 years I need to take a break, so it won't be for at least a couple of years (maybe when I hit the big 40) and when we come again it will be just the wife and myself so we can enjoy vegas properly together.
I'll keep on reading the best vegas board on the web.
    Cheers all
    Graham

Got some advice on this board recently as I was about to go on a sightseeing vacation...not Vegas but closer to your neck of the woods. Brought 2 pairs of shoes and even bought a third and that did the trick. Still had some sore feet but a lot better than if only using 1 pair of shoes for the week. Running shoes are still the best for comfort...left the dressier shoes for going out at night.

Great TR Graham. That's got to be a long flight from England to Vegas. I agree that the Vegas Bug will get you well before your next trip. I think I can one up you on the idiot boy meter you'll see it when I post my TR.
