- Trips to Las Vegas
- 3
Wife and I got home this afternoon from our second trip to Vegas. This time we stayed downtown at the 4 Queens. A little bit about staying at the 4Q's is to ensure that you are not staying in the North Tower! I had heard to make sure and stay in the south tower if at all possible, but didn't really think anything about it. We checked into our North tower room around 5 pm and immediately got the "Fremont Street Experience." The music vibrated the room and I was sure that I could not handle this even one night. I called down to the desk and told them it wasn't going to work, and without any problems they moved us to the south tower 15th floor. This room was a tad bigger, a little nicer, and VERY quiet compared to the other side!
Overall we really enjoyed staying downtown. We took the deuce up and down the strip just about every day so we still experienced a lot.
Gambling- I won what the wife lost, so overall broke even there. My wins came at a Golden Nugget poker tournament where I split the pot w/ 4 other players. They paid the top 4 and we all had about the same amount of chips, so we all decided to make it a draw and walk out w/ money. I also won quite a bit on a penny slot machine at the GN believe it or not. I usually will not play those things, but the wife was having fun so I sat down next to her and kind of got hooked. It was the "Pig Racing" machine on the wall at the GN.
Table games of all things killed me more than anything. Craps was the worst I have ever seen in my life. Black Jack was okay, nothing special but held my own. Overall the Nugget was very good to me this trip.
Shows- The Rat Pack is Back.......I have not been to a lot of shows in my life, but I thought this was pretty good. It's been talked about on other threads, but the Marilyn Monroe part is very funny. I thought Joey Bishop and Dean Martin were very funny as well. Sammy was okay, but lacked something about his performance. All of the music was very good as well. Good Show.
We also went on the Mob Tour. I had asked about this compared to the Haunted Vegas tour. It's actually the same company that does both. We did not go on the Haunted tour though. The Mob tour I thought was VERY good and very interesting. You get into a van which has screens on the backs of the seats and shows a brief movie at the beginning about the mob. As the tour goes on, the guide shows many different pictures, news bits, etc..about the mob. You go around to different sites such as where Lefty Rosenthals car was bombed in a restaurant's parking lot, gangsters old homes, and obviously a little trek around the Flamingo which was great.
IF YOU LIKE THE SOPRANOS, GO ON THIS TOUR!!!!!!!!!!!!
Food was nothing great, mainly coffee shop stuff.
Can't wait to go again!
