I believe my fitbit is pretty accurate.

I know after each round of golf I seem to get a pretty similar number, about 6 to 7 miles, and if you look up online how long you walk when you play a typical round of golf It seems about right. One time walking down a long indoor hallway I counted my steps up to 200 and my fitbit had exactly 200. .

When I am on a road trip and even though i move my hand a lot with the radio and seat controls, biting my nails, it still vibrates and "reminds" me to get up and move around every hour.
Now I do not take my fitbit as gospel, but I believe it provides relativity to everyone and how "active" I am compared to other users.

I had a FitBit for a while and now I have an AppleWatch, and I think they are both pretty accurate. When I am on the treadmill, the distance at the end of my runs are pretty close on the watch and the treadmill tracking. The only reason I kind of preferred the FitBit was that it didn't need to be charged every night. I can't wear my Apple Watch for two days but could wear the fitbit for 2-3 days at a time with no issues which was good for sleep tracking.

I did 33,278 on the first day of my trip according to my Apple Watch, 13.31 miles.

My trip total was 147,431 or 24,541 a day average.

I look at it as being a consistent measure, not necessarily an accurate measure.

My general average in Vegas is 20-25k steps, and it definitely starts dropping as I get to the last full day. My best was on this last trip at 30K.

They are pretty close. Counting step for step the margin of error is extremely small. I've counted my steps before and matched with the FitBit and I was off by single digits on a 1200 step walk.

The one thing though is that the FitBit can mistake certain actions as steps. For instance, it can count steps when you're clapping. I've been to sports events and concerts and was baffled by how I reached 10,000 steps on that day, and when I checked the hour by hour count it registered my most steps at those events, even though I was stationary, but I was clapping.
