    My Trip Report

We have been doing SB weekend in LV for 15 years.

Arrived Thursday 8:30am on SW airlines. Free flight. People, get the SW Visa and 50,000 free miles. So easy. Weather 75 every day. Sweet.

9:30am check in at Linq. Room ready and no early check in fee. In all my trips I’ve never paid early check in fees? Maybe that VIP Access card really works? Diamond check in. No line.

Linq room. Pluses: new remodeled room, great bed, refrig., safe and free bottled water daily. Minuses: smallest CET room I’ve ever stayed in, no clock, no coffee pot.

Lunch at Nine Fine Irishman at NYNY. MyVegas $35 voucher. Sat outside on their patio. Small bird pooped on the menu I was reading. LOL. Don’t they say that brings you luck? Excellent Nachos and Sheppard’s pie. Obviously had to wash it down with a Guinness.

Bally’s 3pm Poker Tournament. Guarantee $800 minimum payout. One table 9 players. Sweet. My friend and I always go partners in tournaments. I’m first out, partner chops winnings. First win of the weekend.

BLT Steak at Ballys for dinner. Travelzoo 50% off voucher. Meal was good at 50% off. Not sure I would go for full price. The famous Popovers were a little raw? Other good choices in town.

Friday, first morning it is mandatory to have breakfast at MAG patio. Best Eggs Benedict and the coffee is the greatest, if you like black and strong.

11:00am Tee Time at Stallion Mountain GC. Excellent course for $60 and $40 club rental. Really in good shape. Glad we brought shorts. It was warm and needed the suntan lotion. Drink lady came by often.

Spent Friday night on Fremont Street, Downtown. All the strange people did not disappoint. Canopy show was great. Ate at Binion’s café. Burger and potato salad. Good. Went to the Mike Hammer show. Good comedian/magician. I got selected for a card trick. Awkward.

Saturday, had to go back to MAG for breakfast. After breakfast I made all my Super Bowl bets. We knew the lines would be long Sunday. Born and raised in Philly, so you know where all my bets are going. Obviously, this trip has a happy ending.

1-2 NL poker at PH. Very good table and very profitable. One hand story. Dealt AK. Made small preflop bet. 4 callers. Flop is AAK. Check twice. Can’t get anyone to bet. Isn’t that the way it is. Small bet on river, everyone folds.

Saturday afternoon head down to Famous Pawn Shop. Maybe 10-minute wait to get in. Nothing special. None of the owners around. On to Pinball Hall of Fame. 100 pin ball machines. Love my pinball.

Saturday night dinner, Joe’s Stone Crabs at Caesars Forum. Love my Stone Crabs and the Sauce that comes with it. Didn’t disappoint.

Styx concert at Venetian. Don Felder of the Eagles join Styx. Great concert. They played for ever. Our seats are on the lower level, but toward the back. All seats were good. I’m feeling a nice buzz and getting into the music. I hear a good song and decide to go right up to the stage and really get into it. Everyone clapping to the music. Songs over and I head back up the aisle to me seat. They turn the lights down for the next song. About ½ way up I trip and I’m down. 1000 people watching. I get up just like in the movies. Jump up, raise my hands and say, “I’m OK.” All my friends are pissing their pants with laughter. Funny.

Sunday, we head to South Point for the 10am poker tournament. We hear on this board that the FREE South Point SB party is good. We agree that the first person out of the tournament goes and saves a table for the 7 of us. Friend goes out first and heads to the convention center to save us a table (Probably 11:30am). He comes back and says there are no open tables for 7 people. Bummer. Good news, I chop the poker tournament with 3 other players.

It’s now 2pm, so we jump in the car and go back to my friends Presidential Suite at Harrah’s and watch the game. We grab pizzas and sodas from the Harrah’s food court and get settled in the suite.

My Eagles have done it. We are SB champs. The first SB for the city of Philadelphia. We have waited a long time. What a high scoring, great SB. Can’t talk anymore from all the cheering. Head down to the sports book and cash all the tickets. Our group has been coming to LV for 15 years every SB weekend. This one was special.

Thanks for reading. Coming out in April with the wife.

So glad you had a fun, profitable trip. Congrats on the SB win! If I was playing that hand and got a caller a K would come on turn and the villain would be holding KK!

Great short trip report! Thanks for sharing.

Small bird pooping on the menu is way better than a large bird pooping on you.

Did you check the Exhibition Center, too? We got there around 1:00 and found a table for five. I know that closer to kickoff they bring a lot more chairs into the room and people find any nook or cranny to fit into. Never a problem, actually makes it more fun.

I do get the struggle, though, as so many seats are "reserved" that you have to go table by table (and the halls are HUGE) trying to find one that has some spots.

That’s a great report. Small bird pooping on the menu had to be a good sign for the Eagles.

Joe thanks for the TR gave me a few laughs. I hope you told all your friends, that was a new dance move when you went down in the aisle. One of these years I will get back out for SB

Thanks for the insightful summary of your trip. Congrats on successful SB bets. You guys made cool plans and followed through with them. That's not always easy to do with a group of 7.

Sounds like a great weekend. Congrats!!! An ex Eagles member singing with Styx may have been a good sign for you. Nice that Felder landed in a band
that appreciates him. Vince Gill is touring with the Eagles which may be kind of interesting. Tripping at a concert took on a more literal sense. South Point is becoming a favorite casino to hang out. The bookies got it handed to them from the SB. So nice to see Eagles cover and win!
They`ve recovered nicely since firing that college coach. Anyway....
