TR guys trip 4/22 - 4/26 - PICS added
Hey all. It's been about a week and half since I've been back and I can once again think about alcohol without wanting to puke so I figured I'd post up a report. I will add pics but the ones I really wanted to come out well, didn't and the rest of the pics are pretty standard stuff.
This is an all guys trip. Me (24) 6th trip. Buddy John (26) 5th trip, buddy Mark (23) 2nd trip, buddy Mike (23) 1st trip.
Flight
Flew out of Detroit via USairways. Our flight was right on time with no issues to report at all. We were seated in the last row of the plane which was a nightmare. It baffles me the amount of times people need to go the bathroom in a 4 hour flight. About half way through the flight the captain came on and said we are going over some storms and we will be experiencing "mild" turbulence and everyone, including the flight attendants needed to be in their seats. Well he was on the money. It was the roughest turbulence I've been in but it wasn't bad. The plane did do that trick where it hit an air pocket or something and felt like it dropped 100 feet which sort of scared the piss out of me and everyone on the plane. Only thing to report during the turbulence was the lady who was next to me wanted to get up and go to the bathroom during it all and asked me to get up. This lady had already went 3 times which was annoying enough but there was no way I was going to ignore the pilots direct order to be in our seats and plus I don't think I would've been able to stand anyways. I guess when people need to go, they need to go but I told her I wasn't getting up :confused2:
Day 1
Arrival in Vegas
We landed on time it was around 9am. Baggage claim took around 10-15 minutes and we were off for our 1 minute wait in the taxi line. Soon we were pulling up to THEhotel at Mandalay Bay to see if our room was ready. Cab ride was surprising $15 + tip.
We go to check in and they said they were not accepting early checkins until 10am. So we head to the bar at Mandalay Bay to grab some beers and hang out. I put $20 and was playing the $1-10 bets on the blackjack game in the bar top video poker machine. The $20 in got a bartenders attention and a couple comped Honey Browns
Lost the $20 rather quick. Bought in another $20. After about 10 minutes I was up to around $50 and decided to throw some more $10 bets in. Well I hit a nice run and cashed out a $201 ticket after losing 3 $10 hands in a row. I was as high as $250 at one point. So $160 profit + 2 beers. Good start.
10:00 am head over to checkin. I wanted to slip a $20 to the worker but the counters here were flat and it would have been extremely obvious and there were two management looking folks hanging out over their shoulders so I just kindly asked if they had a room on a high floor facing north on the strip. She said they did - Score!
After this we went to House of Blues for some breakfast/lunch. A round of Patron to kick us off go the bartenders attention. We all ordered the "hotrod" off the breakfast menu which had to be the best thing I've ever had. A couple more drinks and a nice tip to the bartender and we were off to the BJ tables.
$15 minimums were everywhere so we jumped in. Nothing too notiable so we didn't stay long.
Check on the room and it's still not ready. So we decided to walk down to the Vegas sign for pics. The walk was probably about 1/2 mile but wasn't bad. On the way back we stopped at the liquor store that is across the street from the MB next to the subway. We picked up 3 bottles of Patron, 1 bottle of Ciroc, and 1 bottle of Level (vokda) with various mixers, limes, etc and off to check on the room.
They told me the room would be ready by 3pm so I walked up at 3pm. At this time she told me the room still wasn't ready. This made me a little upset because we were walking around the casino for 5+ hours and really needed a home base at this point. She said she had another room but it wouldn't have the same view. I immediately told her scratch that. She then went in the back and after about 5 minutes came out and started banging away on the computer. Another 5 minutes and we got our room keys. Room 803 on the 32nd floor.
THEsuite
Soon as getting in the room I called down to have room service bring us up a couple extra robs, slippers, and some extra towels.
The room. Absolutely amazing. Nothing else to say about it. 1.5 bathrooms, 42'' LCD in the living room, 32'' in the bedroom, 15'' lcd in the bathroom. Floor to ceiling windows in both the living room and bathroom. The tub wasn't a jacuzi but was HUGE. I had enough room to almost completely lay down in it and it was extremely deep. I sat in there and watched Sports Center for about an hour and loved it. The 3 sink faucets, tub, and stand up shower all had perfect water pressure. The bathroom was fully stocked with some lotions, shampoos, q tips, and a bunch of other nice accessories. And for those wondering, the couch in the living room does NOT have a pullout bed but is plenty wide enough to sleep on. It was comfortable too. It was actually more comfortable to sleep on then sit because of how high the back was.
If anyone stays here ask for our room number. It was high, faced north, and was more towards the left so the Luxor wasn't blocking anything. Absolutely AMAZING room view. Only thing that sucked was City Center blocked the view of the Belagio, T.I., etc. but still absolutely amazing view. Couldn't have asked for better.
6:58pm
My cell phone rings and it's the presidential limo driver I secretly reserved for the us ready for our 7pm pickup. The guys were giving me a hard time when I was getting them to follow me, especially since I grabbed a bottle of Ciroc and 4 pack or Red bulls on the way out. I insured them to just trust me. Walk out the front entrance and there's our driver waiting for us with the door open. Quick introduction and gave him the plans and off we went for a 2 hour cruise of the strip that turned into 3 hours. I timed the ride to be right at sun set which worked out perfectly as the sun was just setting as we were cruising down the strip.
On this we drank most the Ciroc and stopped at a gas station to grab a 12 pack of beer. The driver bought us ice and cups. We made a stop downtown and jumped out to see the light show. We then went over to the Golden Nuggest and had saki <sp?> bombs. The driver then took us over to the Palms were we ran in and had 2 cherry bombs and back on the road to head back. We all woke up at 7am barely remembering getting dropped off
My one buddy was sleeping with a beer in his hand lol.
