  1. SATURDAY - Wife and I flew US Airways non-stop out of BWI. On time, no problems. No meal but they let you bring whatever you want on plane so no big deal. Arrived at McCarran at 11 pm, grabbed bags and purchased Bell Trans shuttle tickets, 14.00 each round trip to The Orleans. Shuttle made about 3 stops along the strip that we didn't mind at all. When we dropped some folks off at the Luxor, there was a bus load of scantily clad women off loading for what I assume was the nightclub there. Great way to start the trip. --Side note -- We have been married 9 years. She knows I have a tendency to ogle and doesn't mind as long as I don't drool on her. For all I care, she could spend all day at Thunder Down Under and as long as she doesn't blow our budget. -- end of side note-- We get to The Orleans ($80 for Sat., $35 Sun-Thu) a little after midnight. Easy check in, no wait. Assigned an 11th floor room with view of front parking lot. The view is the least important thing about the room for me. But, there is this little window in the shower that faced Excalibur, Luxor and NYNY. The room was excellent. Clean and spacious and featured a king bed, coffee maker, blow dryer, safe, iron/ironing board and sitting area with sofa and chair. We explored the casino, signed up for slot club(2 free buffets), ate at Courtyard Cafe(average), and went to bed around 3:30 am.

SUNDAY - We booked a Grand Canyon - South Rim bus tour through www.lasvegasgrandcanyontour.com. $79 pp with a $10 pp fuel surcharge. Advertised as 14 hour hotel to hotel. Well, it took 17 hours to get back to The Orleans. Bus stopped shortly at Hoover Dam and the driver narrated most of the way out and they included a buffet in Williams, AZ. Anyway, the Grand Canyon was awesome. We hiked the 3 miles from Mather Point to Bright Angel Lookout. I recommend the GC for anyone, but be prepared for a long bus ride if you choose that option. Back at the Orleans just after 11 pm. I hit the poker room for about 3 hours and the wife played some slots. I managed a $169 profit at 2/4 limit and downed about 6 Coronas and the wife pissed away about $20.

MONDAY - Ate breakfast buffet in morning (good). Took the shuttle over to Bills Gambling Hall. We headed south to the Hawaiian Marketplace to hit the 1/2 price ticket booth. The timeshare assclowns were out in full affect. It should be legal to kick these people where it hurts, just my opinion. Get a real job folks. Also, the strip looks like hell with all of the construction right now and porn slapper cards littered all over the place. I know people love the strip, but damn, you can have it. After a short wait, we scored 2 Carrot Top tix at $39 each and 2 Titanic exhibit admissions for $15 each. We moseyed back to Planet Ho to check that out and join slot club. Very nice looking casino but no free play here, computers were malfunctioning. Headed back toward the Trop to check out Titanic and join slot club. Gave us a nice matchplay that paid $15 on a $10 wager. Netted $5 on this deal. Ate lunch at Garden Cafe there. Service sucked but portions were big and tasty. Titanic exhibit was nice, but I wouldn't pay the $30 full price they want. Then, we headed to Hooters. Slot promo is weak. $100 slot play that is a complete waste of time. They do have a $25 matchplay though(lost) and a free show ticket to Bobby Slayton or the Mentalist guy(no, thanks). Had a blast at Hooters Casino after finally burning away my FSP. Made $40 (and 2 Coronas) at a 1/2 NL table in the poker room and there is some serious eye candy here. Not just the employees either. Wife liked it as well as she pulled in a small slot profit. Next stop was Excalibur for a quick walk through and onto Luxor to cash in our Carrot Top vouchers for the tix. Still 3 hours before show, so we hit Mandalay to join slot club. Wife got $5 FSP, no hits on all that action. Back to Luxor, I sat in the poker room at a 1/2 NL and the wife hit the slots. About an hour in, wife came along and showed me a ticket for $300 she hit on a Luxor Riches machine. That was good cuz I dropped $100 in the poker room(killed 4 more Coronas though). Caught Carrot Top's show. Big Thumbs up. Laugh out loud funny. I was in Row G, but there isn't really a bad seat in the small theater. After show we cabbed back to the Orleans. Cabbie made a stop for us at In N Out Burger. I thought it was good but nothing spectacular as I had envisioned. Hit the poker room when we got back. Dropped another hundred but sucked down 5 more Coronas. Wife lost a little and we called it a night at around 2 am.

TUESDAY - Caught a morning shuttle again to Bills. Played VP there a little, lost $5. Headed north today. Did promo at Casino Royale. Same as Hooters, sucked. Grabbed a Margarita and headed towards Venetian. Used 2 for 1 at Madame Tussauds. Good time there. Wife has a Ben Affleck fetish so she enjoyed violating the wax figure and I posted up on Shaq and threw a few down over him(wussy). Used $10 FSP at Venetian and left there up $20. After finally finding a way out of there we hit the Wynn. I burned through $30 at VP to get to the magical 25 pts on the slot card and a free spin at the promo booth. The guy in front of won 2 Spamalot tix(i bribed him to no avail), I got a whole $10 FSP which i lost in about 45 seconds. Walked outside and caught the Deuce downtown. Deuce driver comped our ride and off we went. Signed up for slot club at the Plaza. Got two free tickets to Viva Las Vegas. Good afternoon show, well worth the $0 invested. Made $50 in the poker room here. Easy 2/4 game. Hit most casinos on Fremont. Won some at Golden Nugget. We will probably stay there next time if the price is right. We love Downtown. Ate dinner at Binions Coffee Shop. Excellent service and food was great. Will definitely be back here. Rode the Deuce back up to Bellagio to catch the water show. I felt kinda gay watching the water with Elton John in the background, but what the hell, I sang along. Headed back to Planet Ho to see if we could get our free play, no luck. Oh well, of to MGM to check out Studio 54. No, not to go in the place, just to get a glimpse of the people patronizing the establishment. It didn't disappoint. Next was NYNY across the street. Not real impressed, cabbed back to The Orleans. After dropping some a few bucks in a JoB machine, it was off to bed at 2 am.

Wednesday - Slept in today. Awoke for the Orleans lunch buffet. It was pretty darn awful. Not an edible spoonful of food to be had here today. Caught the shuttle over to the Gold Coast. Walked to Palms for the $10 FSP. No luck there. Casino was pretty dead at this time. Headed to the Rio to catch some of the WSOP. Omaha event going on and got to watch some pros like Greg Raymer, Phil Ivey, Phil Gordon and Phil Laak. Good stuff. Ventured to the Gold Coast for some gambling. I really like the vibe in this casino. Sat in on some hold'em and Coronas. Wife played a little and caught shuttle to Orleans. I was tempted to head back until an extremely attractive asian girl sat at the table. Another Corona please. I hit quad 3's for a big $50 jackpot. A lot of action for a 2/4 table, one guy was up $300 in about 2 hours. Crazy for 2/4. Not me though, after 3 more Coronas and ogling the asian I cashed out about $60 profit. I played some .25 WoF and won another $20 before catching shuttle back to The Orleans. Met up with wife and we gambled some more here. We were down to our last 5 hours in Vegas. I managed to lose about $30 at the Alligator Bar, but my wife went on a good run at the roulette wheel. Up $60 she cashed out. Grabbed a bite at Terrible Mikes(good burger, fries) and some ice cream (butter pecan mmm) and we checked out. Worse feeling in the world. Bell Trans shuttle picked us up on time and we were gone. Flew out Air Tran, one stop in Milwaukee. No complaints. Sucks to be home.

Fave Casinos - Golden Nugget, Hooters, Gold Coast, Luxor, Venetian, Plaza

Hotel Review - Even though I would rather be downtown, I would not hesitate to stay here again. Great value at the Orleans. Too hot for pool, but I checked it out and it was a decent setup. Not many lookers though.

It's been a couple of years since we were at the Orleans but it sounds like the buffet hasn't gotten any better.
