Indeed, because it's not. Whilst Northern VA (where I live) is substantially different than the rest of the state, it's most certainly not the northeast. I don't want to derail this great TR but it needed to be said lol.

I always thought of VA as "mid Atlantic" but not northeastern. A lot do people forget that VA was considered the "south" during the civil war days . :D

To put this comment in perspective, I only saw payouts on only about 4-5 numbers. And that is it.. because hitting that 7 on the come out roll will kill the repeated bets..

You can't derail a TR. Plus OP has some interest in this.

My easiest standard for if a state is Southern is if you order tea and it comes as sweet tea. I don't have extensive knowledge of Virginia, but I know Blacksburg very well. You could rarely find sweet tea.

My sucker bet in craps is the hardways. If I have a bet on the 6 or 8, I have to play that hardway with it. The 4 and 10 pay so well on their own, I don't feel the same need to hit it for an extra $35.

In terms of fearlessness, I don't think I met a craps player as fearless as VDT. And I'm pretty aggressive by most players' standards.

BTW - one thing I forgot to mention which wasn't showing in the pics: at one time I had at $500 on the hard 8 and at least $50 on each hardway (because that was the min bet). Unfortunately I never collected on any of them because I completely pressed my earnings, thinking that one day a hard 8 for $500 would hit.

Also, when one plays the field, too many times my wins on the 5/6/8 gets diluted by a large field bet. So I can guarantee that my wins probably was dropped by at least a few thousand because I also pressed the field bets frequently and fully.

Regardless... no regrets .. but the only sad part is that I won't see a roll like this for a very long time.

I think if you look at the stats that he himself posts you can see the financial results of this approach.

oh but when the parlayed hardway hits, it's so so sweet
    i'm hooked on it now

and if the parlayed hardway doesn't hit because it came easy, at least I can take the place bet winnings and take another shot at it

There’s a massive difference between 50 to 70 when it comes to collecting. At 50 rolls they were probably still pressing….

You’re only getting to 6 digits if you’re an aggressive pass line winner.

Interesting tidbit there. I never play the pass line if the dice isn't in my hand. In addition, I generally don't bet on the point either. (Personal preference, not rooted in scientific theory.) This guy killed a lot of points and I didn't have anything to show for it (or very little). :(

FYI: The big winner easily had 5x (or max odds) behind every pass line bet. However - you should have seen him when he dropped like 4 grand in like 10 minutes about an hour earlier . He was not a happy camper.

Doing the Lord's work in here OhC. The detail and play-by-play with VDT is fantastic. Thanks for the diligence and for sharing all of this. And yes, those were some nice rack pics. :headbang:

I bet the pass line with no odds to start. +10 to cover the feature bets. I want to make some money on that damn 7….

I only go full odds when I recover all my bets. Usually by the 2nd point.

I’m assuming the guy wasn’t pressing his bets very much?

If you ever wanted to experience the joy of what @VegasDaytripper (more often than not) feels when he has to chase down a plane at the airport, that is usually the case with me at LAX when I land. I take SW to LAX, and then Alaska back to the east coast.

For better or for worse... bad thoughts** like this strike you when you get worried about missing your flight:
    • Excuse me, you with the crutches or wheelchair ... can you move faster?
    • Dude... you seriously didn't know you were in the TSA line? Go back to the commoner line, you plebe!
    • Why the heck are you running to the front for the plane as soon as we land? Don't you see other folks are already seated here, fool?!!
** - notice I said "thoughts" and not "actual words I say". I'm well aware poor planning on my part does not constitute an emergency on anyone else's part.

And sometimes, time is soooo tight between the terminal where SW is and Alaska is that I sometimes don't have time to buy See's candy in T1 without risking my flight taking off.

Fortunately, I did have time to get the candy, so I did!

    upload_2024-2-8_13-8-32.jpeg

...but it was close. I only had 30 mins to board or they'd give my seat away.

And as I got on the plane, I got this call from a 702 number... errrr.. who are you? (To be continued)
