Given that Delta just changed my flight - AGAIN - and I had some iffy stuff with my schedule for August, I changed my trip to a week later and just cancelled my Delta flight in favor of a SWA flight. I think SWA is just a lot more steady to deal with than Delta at this point.

I was hit with the SWA time change bug this AM. My departing flight in October leaves five minutes earlier. Woo hoo and thank goodness it’s on a Saturday AM!

None of the Delta flights I have purchased this calendar year have happened. Nor have the vast majority of legs to which I was initially rescheduled after the flights I purchased were cancelled. With one exception - the outgoing flight I purchased for 4th of July was cancelled, I was moved 2 more times, then finally requested a refund. Right after I got it, they put the flights I initially bought back on the schedule for about 175% the price I had paid, pre covid, for the same flight. I mentioned in my TR that for 4th of July, I flew on my 6th itinerary I'd had for that trip. Had 3 changes then a refund on Delta, bought American and that was changed 2 more times, but I ended up getting there at noon instead of 8 or 9pm like I'd originally planned. That was great but required taking an extra day off work. Flying is a chore right now, and it's even worse from a small airport like mine.

Got email from Southwest today, two October flights now have a stop.
Looks like most nonstops on this route were removed. Another route I was watching also lost nonstops they had added.
Guess the volume is lower than they hoped.
Probably going to cancel and save the credit.

    Yes, air travel is down.
    How much?
Well on Friday according to TSA 747,422 flew on planes.
2,727,355 flew on planes on that same date last year.

Southwest is changing flights in September like crazy. They deleted my flight from PHX to Burbank and switched me to a connection in Las Vegas now, doubling the time to get to Burbank...they don't even show the connection on their schedule if you look for flights from PHX-BUR...

I've been changed 3 different times by SWA. I'm none stop from Midway to Vegas. It has about 8-10 NS flights daily. A few months ago I was changed to a double connecting flight. I had no problem getting changed on line. They provided a link to change it to any flight available in the time frame allotted. I asked why they changed me to a connecting flight when none stops were available. They said they just pick a flight closest to our departure time whether it's non stop or not. Most of the time when SWA changes a flight on you, I have found it to be a benefit. They just changed my October flight & I did very well. If this Beer virus hasn't calmed down by October, I'll wait to next year. The only good thing about next year is I'll have a larger budget, the virus may be under more control & maybe the world will get along a little better.. George J, click on the link they gave you on their notification email or text. You will be able to pick a new flight. I did it 3 times. Good luck everyone.

My return trip home from Vegas is on SWA and has a change in HOU. My dilemma is that this flight was the most convenient with the shortest total flight including the plane change. I had hoped to be travelling the shortest length of time to shave down the time on planes and in an airport. Plus, the flight gave me all morning still in Vegas and still I would get home around 9pm. Here's the "but". But, after thinking about being in Houston, albeit for an hour at the airport, it's a little concerning that the conditions currently with the Covid-19 status there, it may not be the best place to change planes. Of course, my other option is a flight to ATL and then to Memphis. So many considerations! So far, SW hasn't screwed around with my original flight. I could take an Allegiant flight that is non-stop, however it departs LAS at about 6:25 am! Pluses: nonstop, get home early in the day, short time in the air on a plane. Minuses: leaves at 6:25AM, planes are uncomfortable, volatile flight operations potential.

Ahh, for the days of carefree flying for leisure!

All my Delta flights changed but I expected that. Since I connect their hub, ATL, I am fairly confident there will be flights to LAS every day planes are in the air. It’s the leg from my little airport that always seems iffy.

Heads up on Delta if you care about seat assignments, when you check for schedule changes every Sunday (they do them on Saturday) keep an eye on the plane too. One of mine switched to a smaller plane which changes where I want sit. The old model loaded from the front and new from the middle. They also shortened my connection so I want to be as close to the exit as possible.

Another round of changes for me. This time my Indy to FLL flights. They got rid of their nonstop flights both going and coming back. My times are roughly the same, but I now have to deal with a very short layover in Atlanta. What a pain. This flight is for a cruise in October, which I'm beginning to seriously doubt will sail anyway, so in the end it may not matter.

    Blah. Stupid Rona!!!!!

@martinr SWA has middle seats empty for now, I don't think Allegiant is doing that. Allegiant crams the seats/people on.
SWA will let you change the flight free (if there are any better options).
Yea, I'd be surprised if any cruises from the U.S. happen this year.

Yup, that's the one thing I do like about them. And I did that, with one of the flights. The other one was already the best option.
And as we said, it's probably moot anyway.:cry:

Same thing happened to us the other day for our flight from BUF to LAS. Went from a ns to a connecting flight, no email sent about the change and the new flight didn’t show on the schedule. Unable to change it online so I called (already knowing the new flight I wanted) and they were able to switch it to another ns leaving earlier the same day. The part that was so annoying was that if I hadn’t noticed it the earlier flight may have filled up before I had a chance to call. I guess I‘d better make a habit of checking every day.

SWAIR just changed both of my flights. My return flight from Vegas wasn't too bad (as far as changes) but my non stop from Buffalo has gotten rerouted through BWI....with a 4 hour layover. Gotta fix that! Calling SWA now to get the 8 am non stop to Vegas.

That’s exactly what they did to us @Champster1. I had booked the afternoon ns because the price was better but I much prefer the 8 am time. Worked out ok for okay for us in the long run.

Yea Price was lower, but now I gotta spend 140 more on a car rental (weekly rate vs 8 day rate.) Plus when we get to Vegas at 9:30 am gonna have to leave luggage at bell desk (which my wife hates). But it beats a 4 hour layover in BWI and arriving at 9/10 pm

Our car rental will go up too by about $30, and we’ll be doing the park, sleep, fly now because we have about an hour’s drive to get to the airport. I’d rather leave luggage at the bell desk than have to stress over getting to the airport on time. I see that the economy lot is closed so the room is essentially free when you price it out compared to the next cheapest option.

Made my flight change to avoid changing planes in Houston. Switched to a change in ATL, still on SWA. Still leaving mid day but will get home an hour latter. Even got flight credit since fares have dropped.
Found out that my Delta flight is a new route from Memphis through SLC that starts mid-August, instead of having to change in ATL. So far, I'm the only one booked in FC! Should get great service! But, of course there's no true FC meal service or drinks. Oh well, I booked when one way fate was only 135.00 and used miles for that! I'll bring my own meal.

I just got another flight change. They got rid of my nonstop from Vegas back to Indy. I went to change, and there is one other nonstop that day but it was unavailable. I am really starting to get pi$$Ed at all of these changes.
