We recently had a terrific stay at the Aria. We received super housekeeping in the morning and a turn down service in the evening.

We always left the housekeeping staff a tip and thank you note in the morning before we left the room for the day.

Should we have left a tip for the evening turn down service as well? I'm thinking that it would be a different shift of housekeepers and we should have left another tip.

What do you VMBers do? Just curious.

I usually do...if I remember and if I haven't been gone since before the first housekeeping service. If for no other reason than I'm hoping they'll leave a few extra chocolates or bottles of water or whatever.

Plus, when it comes to people being in my room while I'm not around, I figure that erring on the side of generosity is probably the prudent move.

I've only had turn down service once in Vegas on what was the Rose level at the Aladdin ('50th floor'). I had the same thought you had. Different shift doing the turn down. I wonder if housekeeping pools and splits tips?

I always find these threads interesting. Mind you, I am not saying it is wrong.

We always put a DND sign on the door. We make our own bed.

Even if I shitfaced to the nines (whatever that means), I am still able to pull my covers back so I can climb into bed.

    Just us I guess.

I always find it interesting that people with absolutely nothing to contribute to the conversation still have to post...evidently to prove they have nothing to contribute. Who knows? :rolleyes2:

I'm not sure what you mean. I also use the DND sign. No maid service except when I need towels.

It's very rare for me to tip the attendants who are doing turndown service. The job isn't that hard compared to the morning crew who have to refresh/clean the entire room (and yes I always tip my housekeepers in the morning, regardless of where I'm at).

I tip both but usually turndown 1/2 of morning generally.

I leave small piles of money around the room with a little sign that says "help yourself".

We do tip the evening cleaning lady at the Bellagio. She cleans up the bathroom, leaves extra towels and best of all, lots of chocolates. The candy at the B is great quality, so we figure that we would pay more than the tip if we bought that candy.

The song "turn down for what!" runs through my head when I see this thread...

Just a little non-sequitur on my part...carry on

We always tip housekeeping, but generally don't stay in fancy enough places to have turn down service. Thanks for bringing this up - we'll try to remember to tip the evening folks too, if we get a chance. I've never used the do not disturb card except when we were in the room having some fun, and I'm amazed that others leave it out the whole time. I have had my eyes opened reading this thread!

Along the same line.. do you think it's better to tip as you go, or just leave it till the end?

My last trip, I just left a note saying thanks, and gave them some. They only made my room up once, so it wasn't that big, but still wanted to leave something.

Do you have to request turn down service? Years ago I stayed at Wynn and got turn down in a basic room without asking. But on my last Wynn trip I did not get turn down in a basic room.

Definitely tip each day as the cleaning person will change daily at most properties.

Great idea. This is a way easier to get rid of money vs. having to grind it out at the casino.
