Tipping for a MGM Limo?

For my upcoming trip, for the first time, I’ve have the MGM limo take me to/from the airport. I’d much rather break even/win on previous trips to warrant this :( but here we are.

My question is, what is the tip each way, is $20 enough? I’m sure they will send details but where is the pickup? I’ve already shared flight details.

I’ve seen videos, is there alcohol in these? Can’t imagine much will get drunk on the short hop to the hotel, The Reserve.

It really depends on # of guests and # of bags. I tip $20 when it’s just me with one bag, and double if it’s the two of us, but it’s up to you.

They’ll meet you in baggage claim with a last name sign and I always get a text with driver details as well.

I haven’t seen alcohol in an MGM car since Covid.

Cheaper to get an Uber :D

Thanks for the reply.

It sure can be, no doubt about that. But Uber/Lyft/taxis can’t use the private porte cochere at Aria Sky Suites, so the convenience of that is worth it for me alone.

It’s also nice to just have a car and driver waiting, but everyone’s situation will be different.

I’m getting it, I’m sure it will be handy but I’ve never had any issues with Uber/Lyft before, even if they do take a little bit longer with the waiting.

$20 each way it is.

Even pre-covid, the driver from Aria just had bottled water. Granted, it was a 10 minute ride. I tipped $20, but Southwest baggage handling was delayed, so I should have tipped more. Today, I might add a couple fives to the tip.

It is, typically, a much better experience than an Uber or taxi. Also the drivers are pretty awesomely flexible, happy to stop somewhere to pick stuff up, etc. Once I had them drop me off at a different competitor casino a ways up the strip so I could meet up with some friends and just take my bags to the hotel for me - not a problem at all.

  • I should've just bought my own mansion.

Bottle of water. single short bottle, too.

One thing they lost is that signature touch during transport. You just landed in Vegas, all pumped up staring out the window, and they have room to store a small collection of custom logo gifts in the front seat, they prolly do 3 trips an hour max.

Logistically, they lost sight of the small prep in order to tighten costs, too concerned with driver theft than caring for the passengers who literally are paying for it.

A Stanley MGM logo, small tote with a sugarfina candy box and that sh*** bag of cookies I would get at the front desk in Vdara would totally increase the limo experience, build brand value, and offer at the least effort from the hotel.

$20 minimum, $50 if you usually min bet it.

There’s no way they’re doing 3 trips an hour w/wait time, but I agree with you on all else. A welcome gift would be super cute, but yeah, they’re not gonna do that either.

One day, a version of MGM boutique will appear, mostly from me talking the head off of the Aria Ops Manager.

For $20/ $40 it's a nice little splurge.
If it's just me, I don't care, but if I'm bringing others it makes it a little bit more special.
I'm not a day drinker, so the alcohol is not much use to me.

I’ve always tipped $20 in every circumstance. Unless I’m mistaken if you just take a cab it’s a set amount and a proper tip works out to around $20 anyway. It’s been forever since I’ve taken a cab so I might be wrong about the price. Anyway even back when I used to get picked up in a Rolls I’d tip $20. Now I’m just a peon that gets picked up in an Escalade at both MGM properties and the Wynn.

Edit: Actually I just realized that I messed up and I typically tip $40 when I get picked up in nice hotel vehicles. Not sure why I thought it was $20. I guess I kind of figure $20 might be a normal tip but starting off with being met at the baggage claim, having a professional driver and a nice car is worth an extra 20 bucks. I lose that after a couple slot pulls anyway.

We tip $40 when there’s 2 of us, $20 when solo. It’s a nice way to start and end the trip!

I do $20 per person up to a max of $50

So solo its $20,
A guest and myself $40
3 or more people $50

I know to and from the airport from Caesar’s is $75 each way if I were to have to pay for it. I just tip $100 each way. What’s $100 for the driver over the course of a 4 day trip… nothing. That’s the answer. If $100 is a make or break for your trip then go someplace else.

They offered it, I didn’t ask. My average bet is a lot more than $100 but that doesn’t mean I want to spend that on a 15minute ride, gotta save where you can when dealer is 21’s all night….

Absolutely in the $20 per person tip camp. Also still don't understand how people can go to that mess of a ride-share area at the airport, while fixed price cabs are waiting for you right there for $30 (+10 tip) to basically any strip hotel

  • Well, well MGM, your mistake, also don't need the shufflebord this time
  • Yes beloved NYNY, I chose you over your more elevated sister properties

I dont take taxis since I have car service. But I just have to point out that there's nothing wrong in taking ride share because of this: as a solo female traveller, I've been harassed multiple times by taxi drivers for not tipping enough just because I'm solo, look young and they think they can take advantage of me. And I tip well.
