We are traveling to AZ for Spring training next month and I have hired a town car from the airport to our hotel in Scottsdale. $46.50 (1 way) for the two of us in a private car. How much should I tip?

In Vegas the two of us get the comped limo and I tip $20 each way. My wife says since we are paying, $10 should be fine. Taxes and fees are included in the above price, so that is better than 20%.

Any thoughts? We've never done this before, but on the surface, it seems cheaper than a shared shuttle that wanted $29 pp + tip.

I agree with you. I would tip $10. If the driver does something extra and/or special then I'd up it a bit.

I agree with two Lincolns being a good tip for a ride in a Lincoln!
Maybe one or two fivers more if the driver goes out of her/his way to make your ride more pleasant...friendly banter, etc.

As a limo driver all tips are appreciated. $10 is fine. More if you like the driver or he goes out of his way on any requests. Remember just like any person that serves you, tipping is not required but appreciated. And in some jobs without the tips they wouldn't make a living. Like a waitress/waiter.

On a related topic you should also tip Uber/Lyft drivers. It makes a huge difference in their pay. My brother works for both, and without tips he would have to look for a new line of work. I know Uber doesn't have the tip option yet in their app, so just give a couple of bucks like you would a traditional taxi.

+1 on the Uber tipping, the app doesnt let you but I did it for a few months and quit because you really can't make any decent money after fuel/vehicle costs. I got the referral bonus and was OUT, without the one time bonus it would have been like $10/hour. Thats why the rides are so cheap, the driver makes his cut out of what you pay.

I would advise to check if the rate is inclusive of tip. Sometimes it does for airport black car service. I'm not saying you should not tip, but if the price includes tip, you may not have to tip as much. I take a service in my hometown to the airport most times and the price includes 15%. If he didn't drive like a maniac, arrived on time and didn't talk my ear off he gets another 5 - 10%.
