Does anybody know if they’re still trying to get people to do this from the strip? And if you did it, what did you get?

If you are a couple they are still hounding you. If you are young and have time to kill with some payoff you actually want, feel free, but don't buy under any circumstances and expect to spend about twice the time there that they tell you. In terms of a more likely enjoyable experience, skip the timeshare touts and take a card from one of the porno vendors. Both are in the business of renting space.

Thanks. We did it once and it was well worth it. We were there about a week and 4 hours of our time was worth about $500 in shows, food, and free play. To each their own. If you don’t want to do it, that’s fine, but for us it was worth it.

I've never done in LV, but I got a free Volcanos helicopter ride on the big Island, and got $100 cash in Tahoe.

Hawaii I sat through the entire thing. In Tahoe, first few questions, they learned I always stayed comp at casino, quickly realized I wasn't buying.... I was outta there in 10 minutes with my gift voucher.

On the Strip, when I realize I'm approaching a timeshare salesperson, I look at the ground, talk to myself, and spit on the sidewalk every other step..... they never bother me.

Is four hours not the average amount of time for these things?

I often stay in timeshare resorts in LV but I just rent them on eBay or from extraholidays.com. At this point in late middle age, I find that I value my vacation time more than money. In fact we will be at the Wyndham Grand Desert next month. No obligation to be held hostage. Of course they try to get us to attend, but a simple polite yet assertive "no thank you " quickly brings the conversation to a close.

    ^^^^ THIS! ^^^^

I've never attended a timeshare come-on. The idea of wasting time to see a high-pressure live-action infomercial is about as exciting to me as having a tooth filled without novocaine! If I value my free time at the same rate I am paid, I come out behind.

The math does not work! Timeshares have a lot of up-front and recurring expenses for little, if any, savings.

Of all of the people I've known who have ever "invested" in a timeshare, only one couple had things work out! A retired boss of mine bought a "week" at a timeshare in Cancun and he and his wife love it. They actually bought a second week and do two weeks each year (except probably 2020, but I have not talked to them lately).

The worst was one couple who got suckered into purchasing a week at a "resort" in the toolies of Kansas with the understanding that they could easily "exchange" their week for one at a more popular tourist location. Yeah, fat chance! They got out of it, but it was an expensive lesson learned. All for a free portable TV which they could have got at Best Buy for less than $100.

And, all of those commercials from the "Timeshare Exit" agencies should tell you something!

Q: What's the difference between a cold and a timeshare?
A: You will eventually get rid of the cold!

I’ve rented timeshares several times through ebay resellers, the store I have used is junketsnjunk, he has a 100% rating and he seems to concentrate on Wyndham properties. We stayed at the Wyndham Skyline Tower in Atlantic City a few times and it’s really well maintained.

Yes they are there. We saw a few while there during the end of April. Not quite like they were pre-pandemic but neither were the crowds. I suspect their numbers will increase as the vacationers increase.

As for our experience .... We attended one on our first trip to Vegas in 1982.... first and last time-share presentation for us! Fortunately we did not purchase anything even after they reduced the price the second time. We ended up with one of those dice clocks and two tickets to the show "Jubilee." Back then we were shuttled out to a desolate one story building some 2-3 miles passed the airport on the South Strip and were pretty much hostage to their mercy as to when "enough was enough." There were no cell phones, uber or lyft to call for an extraction. It was not a pleasant experience.

They are definitely there and as aggressive as ever. I've never taken one up on their offer. If I was ever to consider it, I'd have to at least consider the math behind how much a flight to Vegas cost me, plus any room charges if any, and my trip budget, and put a number on how much I spent per hour to be there, and they'd need a real big number to overcome that. And to be honest I probably wouldnt do it for $1,000 cash. My vacation time is the most valuable time in my life.

I love my dice clock! We got two tickets to Frank Marino's show at the Riviera, too (back in '89 when I was 21 and was running out of money).

I was extremely happy to see the timeshare booth between Paris and Bally’s has been removed. I noticed it a few weeks ago. Also, there was no one bugging people at the entrance of Bally’s either.

    Happy birthday to me!

I still have mine. Well sort of! It's still in the family as I gave it to the son-n-law a couple years ago.

    Two thoughts ...

If folks wanna use their vacation time doing this, that's their choice.

If timeshare opps are out there, OP, they will find you, you will not need to find them.

    Enjoy the Inquisition! ;)

To answer the OP's question: there are several timeshare resorts in Vegas. I'm sure all of them would be delighted to give you a pitch. Try the Westgate hotel, either Wyndham, Tahiti village, Elara, etc. You can probably book a presentation or get on their email list on their websites.

    Caveat emptor.

They are still very prevalent. Our home base is NYNY so we know all their spots at that end of the strip. We did participate in a presentation once on our second trip to LV about ten years ago. I knew full well what was going on and knew 100% that I would not be purchasing anything. But this was our early days in LV, four nights, mostly site seeing with a low gambling budget ($500, I think, for the both of us spread over five days). They promised two show tickets for a two hour presentation. We were already planning to see a show, had free time with nothing planned, so figured why not. It'd be an experience and we'd get two free show tickets. The two hour presentation promise was the only thing that truly irritated us both about it in that it did turn out to be a four hour adventure on a shuttle to a resort far off the strip. The resort was very nice. The presentation was very good (for those not good with numbers or the ability to predict what their life would likely be like in twenty years). At the time our youngest was nine years away from graduating high school. The salesman tried to make a family vacation pitch about how great it would be to have a vacation spot lined up for all of us for the next thirty years. I told him, literally, "dude, if you think I'm planning on taking all three of my kids on family vacations, once a year, for the next thirty years, you're nuts." He then started touting the company's superb history. I responded with past performance doesn't guarantee future success. Companies go bankrupt all the time taking their customers and clients by surprise. The financial part was atrocious, easily identifiable by someone good with numbers. We were released to wait for the shuttle not long after the hard press was initiated. Unfortunately, though, we had to wait until everyone that rode with us was ready to go also. One young couple that looked in their mid twenties did buy in. I felt sorry for them but live and learn. After four hours we were back at NYNY with two tickets for Zumanity that night. The tickets were the worst seats in the auditorium, very last row, mid aisle. We arrived early and once we saw the seats my wife went to go see if we could get them moved closer. She came back ten minutes later and said come with me. For a $30 charge per ticket they put us center stage, front row on one of the VIP loveseats that made up the front row for that show. I think there were six or eight that circled the stage. We had a personal waiter for food and drinks so we wouldn't have to go to the concession stand. Most of the acts/performers interacted with us. My wife even got pulled on stage for an audience participation act. It was a blast and an amazing experience. We both point to that experience as one of two that got us to fall in love with LV. The other was, same trip, me playing a 10X Pay old school three reel at Tropicana, quarter a spin, and hitting 10X 10X Red Seven. $1250 win on a quarter. We were hooked.
Haven't done another presentation since. The four hour thing really rubbed us the wrong way. Now we just say we're locals if they try and approach us.
