Yeah, I entered by car (which is what I assume the OP would contemplate, based on his posts). On the way into Canada, they stopped us, made us get out of the car, and I showed my birth certificate. On the way back into the US, they just asked us a few questions and we didn't show any documents. But as I said, it was ten years ago

Passports required for adults these days, for Canada. But a passport isn’t that expensive and lasts 10 years.

We gave some here who think that cost usurious. And they see no reason to leave the country. (I didn't make that up.)

Thats a problem. I sorta like this country.

Thats one truth, partially. Vegas changes way to often. This chapter of travel is really peaking my attention though, I have a ton more research to do.

I will look at this as an option for casino as well. Funny, when I was up there over the summer, I stopped in Christmas Michigan, an actual town. They have a Christmas casino there, which only had a couple tables and a few hundred machines.

Almost went there when I was up but decided on Marquette and Pictured Rocks instead. Never made it to Pictured Rocks though, spent a majority of the day in Marquette and made it to Munsing to a beach a couple hours before sunset and waited there to watch it. Several photographers there waiting expecting there to be a lot of color, it was a dud.

You have to have an enhanced drivers license which is only offered in 5-6 states, mine is not one of them.

Yeah, Boarder card, Passport or enhanced DL which is only offered in a few states.

    Correct mostly.

A lot has changed unfortunately. But yes, I would be going by car.

Really not sure it would be worth the cost for something I more than likely would use once.

As to your last bit ... what value/cost, then, in any vacation cost? What I mean is let's say you live in Anywhereville USA. It's going to be a lot cheaper to go to Galveston than Hawaii, so why ever go to Hawaii? They're both on the ocean.

As to Vegas changing "often" ... does it REALLY change. If one has seen downtown does it really matter what Fitzgerald's is called? Vegas' heart and soul never change. Someone might just put a different shade of lipstick on it. What's different is something you haven't seen or experienced before. It's not a zero sum game. You can do both.

Spend some time exploring. I used to pretty much just do Vegas too. I got burned out on the office life a couple years ago and decided to take a job with an airline so I could travel more. Free flights. Now I do a lot of short trips all over the country, including Vegas. It's been good for me.

I see what your saying. Only reason for the comments about the passport is in my whole life I have never crossed the border and absent going to Canada for a quick casino I have no intentions in the future.

I love to travel and it could very well be Vegas burnout for me as well. I’m excited to go but I don’t feel the rush and excitement that I use to, ironically I’m feeling that rush and excitement about doing some car camping in remote scenic places.

I will check the video out when I’m on my computer. I never knew Michigan had so much to offer until I spent that bit of time up that way

I get that. Sorry if you thought I was chastising. It's just such a nominal cost but if there is no interest then why waste the expense?

I just love the fact they charge you $ 5.00 to leave Canada via walking across the bridge at Niagara Falls. What if I didn't have the money, would I have to swim across?

As much as I love going to LV, I also just love to get away and do and see things. Heck, I don't even care if it's just a few hours away. There are many beautiful places right here in the USA that deserve attention. This past year, I had 4 trips to LV. The most ever. That being said and my retirement date less than 2 months away I am GOING to do just that.....go and see and do things right here in the US. I have a cruisetour scheduled for Alaska (checking one off the bucket list :D) in August, a motorcycle trip riding around all of Lake Superior (seeing Canada and the UP), a road trip by car to Georgia and the Carolina's where I have family on both sides of my family, and also a trip (of course) to LV this fall.

I don't mind camping and actually enjoy sleeping in a tent, especially when on a motorcycle trip. So many places that I want to see but know that LV will still be within the mix. Now, if that money tree in the backyard would just produce....

@LV2GAMBLE, love the idea of that trip around Lake Superior. I drove with the kids from WA state to Montreal last summer-so much to see!

Of course, I also made three solo trips to Vegas:poker::beer:

NO Passport or NEXUS... NO Great White North!

Amazing to me, why most people don’t have one in 2020!

My wife and I have visited Vegas less and less as other opportunities fill our limited time to get away. Above all else, time is the one thing we all wish we had more of. Time to enjoy life. Time to get healthy, be successful, or spend it with family and friends.

We've been doing alot of beach vacations the past few years. We'll circle back to Vegas at some point, but for now, we're seeing new things and making the most of our time. If you like that part of Michigan, come on up to NY. The Finger Lakes, the Adirondacks, all have great experiences for you.

I agree. I have realized there is so much I want to do, to see. Vegas has always had my heart but sometimes i wonder why, I go, I walk the strip, give tons of money away and come home wishing Id not gambled as much and saying it will be awhile before I go back, only to start planning fairly quickly. This past summer I treated that work experience as a mini vacation and seen some places and things I would never have seen and it opened my eyes. A cruise is on my list as well.

Only a few states do the enhanced DL, I already researched it. My state is not one of them

Time, yes, I wish I had more. I wish I was 20 years younger again and wish I had the money I had just this past year. So much i want to experience and see.

Wanna, several times you've lamented your Vegas losses, and despite soon wanting to go back, it obviously troubles you.

Get out and see, experience. If you have to change things up to save money to do it how you want to do it, then more power to you. The road is open out there, see where it leads. You already well know what is in Vegas. Try something lacking a casino.
