I agree, to me the lighting at the tables are too bright for my eyes. The last time I was there (just after they converted the lighting) I commented that I needed to bring my sunglasses to the tables because it was too bright for my eyes.

btw. has there been any renovations to the 2nd floor yet? They probably have to renovate the area by the old sports book and I heard they were going to renovate the meeting rooms (ohana room?).

I was there last week and nothing has been done on the 2nd floor. I didn't see any signs of work being prepped. I'm sure they'll do something soon.

My guess is they are still working on updating the rooms. Anyone know if they started renovating the east tower?

I am currently at the Cal. While eating the $9.99 prime rib sitting at the counter I noticed that Boyd has the free guest wifi which my iPhone was connected but for some odd reason didn't seem to work. Everytime I tried to get a website I would get "Safari cannot reach the webpage."

The Orleans has the same free Boyd guest wifi in its casino and in Orleans I could get free internet services. Not sure why the Cal is not working.

I remember at Orleans the log in page where it would ask for me to enter my slot player's card number would pop up before being able to surf the internet. At the Cal I couldn't pull up that same log in page.

I was told that they had done the beds and maybe some carpeting, but the east tower rooms would not get the full magilla renovation that the west tower got. I hope I'm wrong!

If they now have a free network at Cal and MSS, that would be a big change from 2016. They wanted $9.95 for wifi access as a guest.

Yup, I'm not aware of any free guest wifi at the Cal. I remember in their rooms they had a card which says they have wifi for a fee. Same with MSS, they don't have the free wifi anymore IMHO. I used to like the MSS free wifi, I would come down by the area near the player's club booths and sit in that hallway that goes to the car rental booth. I think it became a problem because so many non guests were going over there to use the free wifi, so many sites and people were telling everyone about the free MSS wifi.

Malikiboy in the rooms at Cal the $10 a day wifi is titled California-Rooms-Cox (see my picture above). At the Cal in the casino it seems that the Cal will soon be offering free wifi titled BOYD_GUEST_WIFI. The Orleans has that same free wifi in Orleans casino. You can mark my words that the Cal will soon be providing free wifi in the casino (not the rooms).

Another thought that occurred to me is the possibly that the Cal may finally cave in and start charging a resort fee and include the in-room wifi for free. I hope I'm wrong though.

Maybe that's why it doesn't work yet, they are still in the process of setting it up. Let's hope that they will offer a free wifi. Hmmm, hopefully we can go up to the 2nd floor promenade and sit on the chair and use the free wifi.

If they are in the process of charging resort fees then MSS should also have a corresponding guest wifi. Not likely that they would start doing it for the Cal but not MSS. But then since it is being set up maybe they will do MSS after they finish with the one at the Cal.

I didn't know that the Orleans had free wifi, I wonder if it is available in the bowling alley. Last year it wasn't available in the bowling alley. Would have been good if one was available because we had to wait for the next tournament shift so could have spent the time on the net.

If you bowl and text your balls might fly off in the wrong direction.

Even my friend who works at the Cal doesn't know about whether or not if the Cal will be providing free wifi. He is one of the slot attendants and he said that the Cal charges $10 a day for in-room wifi. I told him that I knew about the $10 a day in-room wifi but the what about the new wifi signal in the casino called BOYD_GUEST-WIFI, he had no idea about it. Can someone report back if they find out about it. I'll be there the 1st week in March and I'll report back if someone doesn't report about it before then.

From a casino, business standpoint, why would they offer free wifi in the casino? They want people gambling, not on their smartphones.

True but also from a casino experience you get people in the door maybe cause of WiFi when others don't have it. Us kids love our WiFi! College football is having attendance issue for partly this reason. Cell service stinks and the students can't text

For those staying using the promotion "20% off w/$10 in dining per day," I was pleasantly surprised when I stayed 1 night on Jan 30, 2017, and charged the $9.99 prime rib to my room on Jan 30 and then also charged the $10.99 oxtail soup to my room on Jan 31 and both meals were taken off of my final bill when I checked out. I thought only one of those charges would be taken off and the other would stick but both charges got taken off, except for .99 cent over the $10 on the oxtail soup. Maybe they made a mistake but I'm not going to call them to add it back on (lol).

? In your quote it clearly says It is $10 per day, not just $10. However, you can not save one day to the next for $20. Use $10 each day or lose it. Can't stack .

The way I interpret the deal is that for 1 night stay is that I would only get $10 in dining credit (not $20 in dining credit). Maybe I interpreted it wrong. So for 1 night stay I'm supposed to get $20 in dining credit ($10 on the check in day and $10 on the check out day)? At any rate the next time I use this deal again, I will make sure to charge another $20 to my room. If only $10 gets taken off that would be fine but if $20 gets taken off that would be even better yet. I have done this same deal in the past and only charged $10 to my room for 1 night thinking only $10 was allowed.
