Just curious, does anyone have any current firsthand knowledge of the current security procedures at Strip resorts? In the past couple days I read about how Wynn started scanning every bag that came into the resort, but it seemed like they immediately backed down from that plan after one day. Have any other resorts installed new procedures yet?

    from FOXNEWS.COM

I was reading this, and I was just wondering if any of the well-known VP pros have weighed in or commented on Paddock and the MB shooting. he had to be known in the high limit VP circles. Jean Scott or Bob Dancer and other writers probably know of him as would the VIP hosts.
not that it means anything, just curious.

Anthony Curtis weighed in, in this NY Times article - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/10/04/us/stephen-paddock-gambling.html?hp&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&clickSource=story-heading&module=b-lede-package-region&region=top-news&WT.nav=top-news

But I dont think what he played should matter, nor what movies he liked, nor what kind of food he preferred, etc.. This incident could of very well happened in non casino. Reports are coming out that he staked out a festival in Chicago, but never went.

This is an understatement. That was traumatic.

FWIW, I counted 7 different "rounds" of shooting. I'm assuming this started recording after the first round.

Because Life is Beautiful and Lollapalooza were possible targets, I think it's more likely he was looking for large groups in confined spaces than targeting a music genre.

I haven't heard, but I know police and security in casinos are going to have some meetings about what they can learn from this and how to proceed.

I saw a small presser with LV Fire earlier, but nothing new was announced. Someone said there was another, but I haven't found it yet online. I'm going to look as LVSun usually streams them on Facebook.

I am sure there are plenty of casino connected folks out there who knew the guy, but that doesn't mean they are going to talk about it. I believe his gf was a host (or worked with a host) in Reno and that's how they met

That footage... that guy was impeding people's exit, shining his light in their eyes. Finds someone wounded and stops to video them. I stopped it at that point. Is that from a news guy? I thought I saw a shadow of a fairly hefty camera.

    Ghoul ass.

The stupidity level is off the charts.

I give Sonya as much credit as possible, because I'd have a lot less patience. Hang in there.

Article on ABC13 about it says it was filmed with his phone. He helped put a tourniquet on that person to stop their bleeding and was directing people when to duck down and when to run. Later he helped a guy who had been shot in the arm and chest. Article says:
    http://abc13.com/las-vegas-area-man-saves-lives-in-dramatic-video/2492494/

Also, I found the other press conference. It was from the parking lot by the Convention Center. There was nothing really new other than the coroner saying they had identified all 58 people killed and as of 9:45 last night, all families had been notified.

Main entrance to MB. Where the video begins, her cab is on the approach to the front entrance She's parked just before where the tram crosses overhead. She's directly in line with the north wing of the MB hotel, very close to being under the line of fire. As she drives forward, she actually goes under the line of fire, past the covered main entrance, and loops back around the frontage road that returns to Mandalay Bay Road that goes between MB and the Luxor.

    It's an amazing video.

What I find most remarkable is that the driver very quickly correctly identifies the sound as automatic gunfire. Yet lingers around in her cab for quite some time.

Then when she leaves, she exits eastbound on Mandalay Bay Road, sits at the stop light at LV Blvd for a long time, then progresses onto Giles, behind the concert venue. She unknowingly drives directly into the line of fire. Amazing. She's lucky. And astonishingly foolish.

they reported that MB and other casinos have shared all the information they have about him and his gambling history and some of that info was also reported. i bet the guys host at MB must be sick to his stomach because the guy obviously planned this and that means requested that specific suite which his host would have had to arrange for him.

from the nytimes article quoting other VP players who knew him he sounded like a jerk. its weird to think of because if he was staring at me like people said he did i would probably say something to him. not something mean but something like "can i help you?". and if he got an attitude about it i know i would probably lose my cool and get an attitude with him and never thinking he could be a deranged killer with a military style arsenal. Just goes to show better to stay calm and walk away from anyone trying to get in your face.

Not current but Monday & Tuesday they were wanding everyone entering at the Wynn/Encore. I left Tuesday and walked in an out of TI/Harrahs/Venetian/Paris/Mirage without a second look.

    Also,
I am still having a really hard time. My friend who left Monday just text me and says we might be even luckier than we thought. She's just catching up on the news, I'm a SAHM and I'm glued to the tv & my phone for updates.
I don't think I believe what I'm being told, based off the pressed on Monday morning when they said they didn't have any more police on the strip since it was an isolated inccident.... but they did. 10-12 cops at each entrance of Harrahs (I offered to buy them Starbucks, but the Barista told me they all got free coffee from their big boss) but they had their guns ready and full out combat gear on. We didn't walk much so I can't speak for anything north of it or South of the Flamingo.....but they were everywhere. They were gone on Tuesday, just the bike officers around then.

I have had a few instances in the past where people stand behind me in the high limit and stare at me while I play. I find it mildly annoying, but have never thought about confronting someone about it (after years of being combative for a living, its the last thing I want to do on vacation). But from what I read, it sounds like this guy did it enough and lingered long enough for a lot of people to remember him doing it.

Why are some blue. Would they be police or first responders?

Sorry, speed posting. Thought "hearts on crosses" in my head, but just "hearts" came out of my fingers. ;)

@olddaddy That looks like the guy. I didn't get any context, just saw the photo posted. I don't know why some are blue, but yours is a good guess.

I completely agree. I can't imagine someone else wasn't involved in some way. Either shooting or planning or collaborating. And that door ajar things is CRAZY to me. Ajar before the security guard arrived? weird. I live in Oregon, I worked at Sacred Heart Hospital and took care of the kids from Thurston high School shooting. I now live in Portland and shop at Clackamas Town Center where the mad man with a gun came in and shot up the mall. Those events felt very different than this one. And i'm just as close to those locations as i am to Vegas. This feels more like 9/11, so calculated....

From a conversation about this today, we were kind of brainstorming. I wondered if it would be possible to shoot some kind of tear gas or smoke thing through the broken window(s) and incapacitate him. One of the guys who was in the military said too high and too far to be accurate.

Then one of the guys suggested they could have activated the fire sprinklers on that floor, as in give the guy a very cold shower, plus activating the very loud fire alarms that most rooms have, and those might have at least slowed him down or stopped him long enough to get the SWAT people up there. You know, distraction and annoyance and such.
