    Glad you're finally on your way to Vegas. How was JetBlue Mint? Hope you have a fantastic trip and lots of luck.

    So it's happening. Pushed back from July due to wanting to see how the experiment went, pushed back from August due to family illness, wasn't really optimistic about getting to LV this year, but my risk parameters ended up lining up at an acceptable level.
    • Still very low positivity rate where I'm coming from (although just starting to rise)
    • Lowest positivity rate in LV since the reopening (although not great, and starting to rise)
    • Middle seats still blocked in JetBlue and only 3 Mint seats booked on my flight as of leaving the house (although there's 7 seats occupied, so they sold some at the gate or upgraded some people)
    TL;DR: I definitely need an escape, and without a crystal ball, my estimation is this may be the best time for my cohort to do it for the next 6 - 9 months, before the planes get full and the masks come off. Plus because I book my flights so far in advance, I ended up with $2k in Travel Funds (two round trips worth) and I'm not sure I'll end up going twice next year.

    A dirty dozen nights - 6 nights Cosmo, then 6 nights either Vdara (if they have OK machines turned on at Aria) or Bally's.

    I gotta be honest and say this trip doesn't have the same juice as usual, I'm gonna be playing off-hours and probably limited to some mega-sessions on a few days. And a lot of Netflix and takeout.

    But let's see what happens when I get there and have a few slugs...:drunk:

    oh dang, @Chuck2009x coming to town?

    can't wait..

    If any of you strip high rollers want to come hang DT, please let me know.
    I'll be looking for @FuzzyDiceCraps at the craps tables.

    or if anything is happening on the strip, I could try to get there...

    Only 3 seats (including mine) showed as booked, but there's 7 occupied, including both seats across the aisle (by fidgety people traveling together). So I'm not psyched about that, but I figured it could happen. I'm in 5F and the seat in front of me is empty, so that's good. Everybody's masked up, they just finished the meal service (I skipped it).

    Nobody's closer than about 8 feet from me and I have an N95 on. Plane ventilation is good unless they're lying.

    Air time is only supposed to be 5 hrs 15 so that's not bad.

    Once I decided I was gonna go, I had delusions of grandeur for a few nights and had a completely batshit crazy idea for an outdoor meetup towards the end of next week, but I don't think there's enough time or people to pull it off. A Cher wig is involved.

    Following along, you appear to have a similar covid risk tolerance as I do. Curious to see if you still enjoy the trip enough to offset the negatives. I'm still on the fence for a trip this year.

    Glad you're getting a trip in this year! 6 nights at Cosmo sounds fantastic. Please find all the hand paying machines. Enjoy the tequila scented hand sanitizer!

    Thanks everybody!

    Final approach took us over Area 714, the U.S. Strategic Quaalude Supply:

    IMG_0602.JPG

    Landed in Vegas at 9:00am on the dot, so in air time was only 5 hours which is outstanding.

    Because I suspect there's a few people like @Count de Monet that are interested in Covid-related impressions, I'll add mine to the database as I go along. Mostly early on, because my overall plan is to just not plan on being in crowds at all. I can do Vegas that way at least once or twice. I do like doing M&Gs and slot pulls, but I can do Man vs Variance too.

    My risk factors are smoking, afib, and high BP, the latter two controlled with medication for several years and not an obvious issue on a day-to-day basis. BMI is 20, due to the smoking lol. I'm at about 1/2 pack of butts and 1/2 a Juul pod a day.

    So that's where I'm coming from, I don't want to get this thing.

    I promise none of what I say will be slanted on purpose, just observations for people in a similar cohort to me.

    Covid-related data so far:

    The Mint section on my flight was way more crowded than I thought. I was in 5F and the only other seats occupied were 3A and 3F. My plan was to talk to 3F and see if he/she wanted to switch to 1F or take my seat and I'd switch to 1F. That would provide the maximum possible distance with 3 passengers.

    As it turned out, when the lights came up. they filled some of the seats anyway. For you JetBlue fans, 5A and B ( both seats across the aisle from me) were filled, 4 A was filled, 3A and 3 D & F were filled, 2 A was filled and 1 A & C and D were filled.

    So their policy is to fill only 10 of 16 Mint seats, keeping the 6 aisle seats free.

    They portrayed only 3 seats as being booked right up until the last minute, but filled 12 one way or the other (gate sales, upgrades, or whatever). The seat in front of me was empty and the occupied seats closest to me slept most of the way, so I wasn't freaking out, but, buyer beware.

    Most of the Mint section was as old or older than me.

    If they're selling upgades at the gate or upgrading people on status I can't complain, but if I knew what the seating chart was really gonna be, I might have bailed. Too late now.

    If there's a 50% vaccine and flights are full but no masking, I'm not going. That's what I think it it is going to look look like 9 months from now.

    =================================================

    LAS: I don't know what the fuck terminal we actually landed at, but had to take the Red tram for 30 secs to regular JetBlue baggage claim on T3 where the bags were already going round. No issue, 10 people.

    Plenty of taxis at normal T3 taxi line, $23 flat fare to Cosmo. I paid $30.

    =======================================================

    Checked in Cosmo at 10:00am. no line, agent saw that I was moving from Studio (2 tier benefit nights) to Terrace Suite on Monday on the marketing offer, he looked to see if he could put me in a Terrace Suite right away, but I told him I didn't want to pay for the upgrade. It might have happened; I like the Cosmo agents and they've pulled rabbits out of hats before, but not this time. Oh well, I end up in a non-fountain Studio for the first two nights, which is fine with me, although it basically means not unpacking.

    =======================================

    Go up to the room, all the way at the end of the hall, dump the tote bag and the laptop, head for Hertz for the supermarket run.

    Casino is I wouldn't say busy. Cosmo just has this thing working against them with the one main aisle. All they have to fucking do is put a Tensor line with breaks every 10 or 20 ft down the middle, but they won't do it. So they deservedly get to keep the rep as Covid central.

    +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

    Hertz guy is selling Ms. Daisy Dukes on a Camaro (!) he has supposedly has coming in for $200 for 1 day. Daisy Dukes's BFF is beside herself. He takes them out to look at he #4 Hertz slot where this car is coming in.

    He comes back, they all apparently have arrangements for tonight, I get my car, it smells like someone spilled a gallon of milk (or milf) a month ago.

    I go to Albertsons.
