Based on these groupings, I would think the first two categories were more apt to be the ones that hit Vegas on day one and the lower categories less likely. Hence what we see.

1 - Never stayed home. Never wore a mask, etc.
2 - Went out some, tried to social distance but really did not worry about it
3 - Went out very little, always wore a mask.
4 - Has almost never been out and wore a mask when they did.

The dress might help. Add in a sign that says everyone in your family has the virus, but you seem to be okay.

This is why I’m glad I can do online check in and use electronic keys. One less dirty ass line to stand in.

You are, I'm sure, correct. It just caught me by surprise. I'm going to get me a pair of these. Not as good as a hoop skirt, but probably cooler.

visitors don't think about locals working those jobs, it's not part of their vacation thoughts. We wear masks whenever we are close to service people regardless of how awkward it is. You must always be responsible for yourself in any part of life, a thought lost in today's world.

    I couldn't agree more.

And that's why I think it is so important that I do all the "easy stuff" (mask, distance, good hygiene, etc.) If putting up with a few minor inconveniences might ensure that the decision makers are never put into a position where they can make such a costly mistake, then I'd call that a no-brainer. :peace:

Well, my August trip is still a go. I have a large supply of N-95 masks (old farmer with connections) and hoping that the Wynn will be a different story.

I'm really surprised this isn't shut down with speculations and opinions based on what I've posted. The mask argument is getting old. Either go to Vegas or stay home. Pretty simple.

That is a pretty rough scene. Due to some great offers, I'm planning on coming late June with an early July stay at the D. I won't even go to that part of the casino. I'll park in the garage, check in, and use the elevator from my room to the 2nd floor where I can both eat and play video poker. If I want to leave the D then I'll exit by the valet where it's not crowded. Due to comfort, I won't sit a machine for a significant amount of time with that mask on but I will wear one if I'm walking through the casino or crossing Fremont St to get to another property. I will not be hanging out on Fremont St and mingling with people. I don't mind wearing the mask on elevators and if I need to use the public restrooms but I might just go back to my room.

I am assuming -- or at least hoping -- Wynn will be a different story, even if that means some Wynn customers who didn't read the Wynn health and safety plan published a month ago get pissed off with Wynn following the plan that it prepared. I haven't seen any posts on here yet but I've been checking out some Wynn tidbits on Twitter. My trip is still two months away but I'm thinking about limiting my visits outside of my home base to other casinos even more than I had planned.

I would imagine this thread hasn't been shut down as that video isn't speculation. It's evidence. Some of us want to go back to Vegas very badly, but we want to be safe doing it. The video is concerning to some people. Again not speculation. That's a fact. It's providing us information to help us decide what we will and won't do when going back.

Obviously you did not watch the video. These people were not wearing masks or gloves, no one was rubbing hand sanitizer on their hands, they weren't social distancing, and they were gathering in a group of 50 or more.

As a business owner, even if you do not agree with the Covid rules in place regarding distancing, etc., you need to comply as much as possible in order to stay under the radar and keep your business open. Are there going to be times when people will be too close to each other on a casino floor ... yes. However, making the effort to limit those instances at least shows the authorities the business is trying to comply and will make some tweeks to the way the business is operating in order to comply with the Covid rules. If the authorities perceive you are ignoring the rules, they will make an example out of your business during these times.

I own a small restaurant/bar. Do I wish the distancing and capacity rules were relaxed a bit more in my county ... yes. But rules are rules. All of the employees are enforcing the rules so we can stay open and keep people employed while we ride out Covid. I am not risking fines or my $100,000 liquor license over compliance issues.

Hoping the photo at the D was an isolated incident and they, along with every other business that reopened, are working out the kinks so that patrons are safe, rules are enforced and the employees can earn a living. It’s not a mutually exclusive concept.

One of the reasons New York City got hit so hard is because of the Public Transit System (subways). Over five million riders a day. They proved that a lot of people in a closed environment allowed the virus to spread easily. With the virus maintaining life in the air of around three hours, probably about only 25% of people wearing masks, communal chips, no plexiglass dividers, and no social distancing, I’ll have to wait a month or two at least, to get some more data points as to how much increases in the virus count.

We are trying to allow more flexibility in having reasoned adult conversations about these things. As long as it doesn't devolve and go off the rails.

I find myself constantly between a rock and a hard place on this issue. If I close threads, I'm bad. If i leave them open, still bad.

If you see posts you think are a problem and violate the rules, please use the Report link to let the moderators know and we will look into it.

For those wondering if this is limited to The D, please look at my Scenes from Vegas thread. I've tried to find photos and video from as many casinos in Vegas as I can.

I think this is important information for people on the fence about their upcoming trips. My opinion is that if you are even remotely in any of the high-risk groups, you should not go to Vegas without major contingency plans for severely limiting your time in the casinos and public areas inside. Wear the best masks you can find and do your own diligence to social distance and wash your hands like you have OCD about it. I am aware that several people here do not share that opinion and that is fine. Unwise, but I'm not Queen of the Universe so my opinion is still just that. :)

When I watched the Video I didn't see any seniors (who are most at risk). As I understand it young to middle age may contract and spread but very good chance for recovery, low fatality. I can certainly see why the people in the video would take these chances to socialize.

I'm 70 and in good health, my wife has health and respiratory issues so I will not be back until a safe vaccine has been proven effective.

Age and health conditions need to be considered it's not one size fits all.

The people who are in vegas right now are living their lives as they deem appropriate, the ones who are afraid are staying home, the ones who are not are there. I visited my local indian casino in WI last week for the first time and it was like the video - very few masks(25%), I was there in the morning on a weekday so it wasn't packed, but covid was not on peoples minds.

I booked a vegas trip last week for ridiculous prices($25 each way) in late july, I'm not concerned in the least, it's been over a month now since WI opened up - the dire predictions did not come to pass.

I really wish you would stop saying that people who aren't rushing back to Vegas right now are afraid. Please stop passing judgement on others. Nobody called you a moron or a fool for booking a trip. Some could say they are aware of science, or understand the risks involved and decided to wait and see what happens to the numbers. Ascribing them as weak and cowardly/afraid is inappropriate and if directed at a particular member of this board, would be a violation of our rules.

Please remember that we all can agree without being disagreeable. If anyone here can't figure out how to do that, please find another place to talk about Vegas.

Also, many people that aren't there now weren't even planning a trip at this time.
