We just returned from a stay at the Alladin. We had great rates for four nights, but were very dissappointed with the hotel and the buffet. The casino is a hodgepodge of construction. The spice market buffet was always a favorite, but the have moved it to another location. We asked for a smoking table and were seated at a bar with pub tables that were very uncomfortable. The buffet was a complete dissappointment because they had scaled back on everything. They are still charging a whopping $24.95 with less food and uncomfortable surroundings.
Aladdin Warning: Never stay at a hotel you can't spell. Luckily the place has morphed into Planet Hollywood. Here we have a property that was originally The Aladdin but went broke, even after Elvis was married there. So, the brain trust built a new hotel on the site and racked their brains for a name to give their new hotel/casino. After much thought and creative visions, the Aladdin was chosen as the new name. Guess what. The new Aladdin immediately ran into financial problems since nobody could figure out how to get into the place. Elvis was already married too. Enter Planet Hollywood!
I hope we can get the Buffet back... I am going back after they get the construction done, after it's back in the same spot. I have seen the MGM Buffet, and Ceasers Buffet not survive, but the Aladdin was one of the 2 best, if not the best.
I keep hearing december for the grand reopening/naming but nothing official yet. My guess is they'll have a big event--Miss America, music awards or something and do the big Planet Hollywood thing at that.....That's only a guess
