This is exactly how I feel. The gambler in me screams "why pay $150 per night for something nice when you can stay for free at mid-tier properties. You can use that for gambling!"

I almost swing the other way...I want to stay at some of the older properties (Riviera, Flamingo, etc) before they go away or get a big make over.

Ken, have you been to that Motel 6? For a Motel 6, it ain't bad. I'd pick that one over the one in Redding, CA. *shudder*

There are so many places in Vegas that I've never stayed, mostly Caesars properties.

Haven't stayed at Bellagio, but don't really have an interest in staying there either:
    - too much foot traffic in the casino, lots of people just walking around that don't seem to be going anywhere
    - no affordable breakfast or late night snack options... if they put a Subway or a McDonald's in there then that would pique my interest

Thats what I did the one time I stayed at Sahara. Stayed there the week it was closing, just to say that I had done it. The liquor store in the casino was running a BOGO special on all stock, we all left with more wayy more booze than what we brought.

I feel the same way about Palazzo, Venetian, wynn, and Encore. I don't think they will let me in right now lol. I'll do one of those hotels when I'm like married or in a serious relationship or something. I would like to stay at one of those one day but Bellagio is the target for now

Cosmo, I look into it every trip but just can't see myself paying those kinda prices when I can go across the street to PH for free.

I would love to stay at the Venetian/Palazzo....just once but they will never give me a freebie and I can't rationalize paying when I can get a comp through MLife.

    jameezy,

One possibility of snagging a comped or reduced room rate at Bellagio is:
When in Vegas play as much as you can at mlife properties and skip playing at other properties for one trip so you can accumulate as many points on your mlife players card - especially Bellagio....and always use your mlife players card...so you can possibly get your tier status to the next level...and sign up to receive email offers and online offers...you will be surprised at how many offers are out there based on fairly minimal play.
Then when you plan to go to Vegas again -CALL Bellagio and ask to speak to a slot host and ask him/her to look at your past play at mlife properties and your desire to stay at Bellagio at a reduced rate...
I found that mlife properties are very competitive with each other and for example if you've stayed at Monte Carlo and have an offer - tell the Bellagio slot host of that offer and could they offer something similar to you...
It's worth a try - it worked for me in the old days although now I have Platinum and get fantastic offers from all mlife properties and especially Bellagio and Mirage..
Best of luck in your quest to stay at Bellagio!!

I agree quite a bit with Makikiboy. I have been to Vegas 14 times now since 84. Now, what I like to do is stay at different places--maybe I sound like 3 fries short of a kids meal but, I like to SEE other lobbies, carpeting, lounges, to check out the "different machines", rooms, eats etc....so, I should say I did make Sahara my "home". I'm a low roller. I like to use any kind of coupon, discount, freebie etc...hell, I'll go sit through a sales pitch for a free dvd player or 150 in free play. I am a cheap ass? NO!! Just watch my dollars out there. I to think WHY in the hell would I spend 150-300 bucks to sleep and watch tv!! The more I save on rooms, drinks and food, the more I can lose on the machines!! Hahahaha. I was treated like a KING at Sahara. They would call me and offer free/discounted food, rooms etc...at that time, there was no free play but, CASH. They gave me 5 days, 500 bucks and a cabana furnished on the last stay. Anyhow, I have stayed there 4 times, Stardust, Dunes, frontier, The Ho, Four Queens, San Remo, Showboat, Circus Circus, Lady Luck and Sams Town. The ONLY complaint that I had with ANY of these were the Showboat as we had someone broke into our room and stole my socks! I have NO desire to stay at the "upper class" places. Still want to do Riv, any Station, Railroad pass, the Gate and more Boyd's.:drunk:

The M. I used to be one of the places biggest cheerleaders, and have spent a ton of money on the place and have never received an offer. Place is just too far out to justify paying for a room there, but if they ever offered I would easily take them up on it.

I've stayed at the Bellagio twice and got a regular room with fountain views. The rooms were updated a couple of years ago but they are nothing really special. I would much rather stay at the Cosmopolitan with a balcony and Bellagio view. Those are great. Also like the Palazzo rooms since they are suites and newer than the Venetian. Encore is not bad either except too far up the strip.

I've never stayed at Caesars, Planet Hollywood, Mandarin Oriental or Mandalay Bay.

Those who have not stayed at Bellagio might find the experience disappointing, depending on what impresses you. For one thing, rooms are noticeably smaller than rooms at V/P. What we found at Bellagio was that we were treated very well even though we're low rollers. Of Wynn, V/P, and Bellagio, Wynn was the only place that acted snotty, but that is nothing compared to how poorly low players get treated at the Harrah places. There, it's all about coin in, and they want everybody to know it all the time. That is why I will probably never stay at Caesars even though it will probably always be my favorite themed hotel.

In parts of the South, they call a roadie (a drink that is carried out) a go-cup.

    This +1

I stayed and played at MLife properties for a couple days last Sept. I played mostly at Bellagio, but had some spread out over the other mlife properties as well. I was surprised to see an offer on the mlife website when I was looking for my upcoming Sept trip. I had a discount offer one night free with a 2 night stay , other nights half price, with some free play and resort credit.

I called, and they did much better than that, with my entire stay comped with much more freeplay and higher resort credit.

The trick must be to call and talk to them?

Geogran, not to get too personal but what is considered fairly minimal play? I'm just debating about calling based on my last trip's action at the B. I had about a 5 hour session there betting the pass line with max odds and place#'s on a $10 table, mixed in with roulette betting the inside with $50/spin. Then a slight donk on VP for $100...Would this action be worth the call?

IMO, and I know you didn't ask me :), it's always worth a call. It's like asking the pit boss for a line pass. Worst case scenario he says no and makes a grouchy face. No harm, no foul.

I hear you, I will definitely give a summary of the outcome when I do.
