Trips to Las Vegas
3
Hey all,

So I'm busy planning a trip to Vegas for me and 7 others from the UK (all male aged between 25-29).

We are somewhat on a budget and are exploring different ways in which we can save a little money. One of the lads told me to look into Airbnb, without having used it himself.

A quick look this morning and it seems too good to be true. Some places are absolutely amazing with pools, spas, jacuzzi's,games rooms, bbq area etc..all for a fraction of the price of a hotel.

We are seriously considering booking one. Sure there is a downside to not being directly on the strip, having to factor in taxi/über costs of traveling back and forward for a week but some are even within 10/15 minutes walking distance to the strip.

Anybody on here used Airbnb to stay in Vegas before? Thoughts? Positive,Negative, useful information?

How much of a factor is staying off the strip?

In general how are the landlords?

Neibourghoods to avoid?

Appreciate any info in advance :)

In general AirBNB will vary considerably. The landlords are all independent folks - just like you and me. Some are managed by a company, but not most. So, there is no fixed answer. We always review the reviews to see how each particular location/landlord is.

With 8 people, I am thinking you will all run into different hours of coming and going which would lean towards being closer to the strip.

There are some condo's like Jockey Club right on the strip.

I'd be interested in the answers to this too. I've looked at airbnb, but have yet to try it in Las Vegas. I have an apartment booked for a few days in Spain in June, and will see how that goes first.

For what you're looking for, look at Jockey Club, Polo Towers or MGM Signature as they are all on the strip.

Only caution to these rental sites is that the price listed is often never the final price. You more than often have to contact the host to get the true cost. In addition, sites like airbnb, VrBO charge connection/convenience charges, cleaning fees and large deposits.

Another issue is that they can cancel and do often cancel last minute. This would suck if you and your lads are on the flight here and the rental manager cancels without you knowing.

Good luck finding what you're looking for!
