    My Trip Report

My husband and I had sworn off the Hard Rock last year but then our degen friends told us about some great wins they have had recently ($8k royals, TDB $8k A's etc). So we got pulled back in... and for some unknown reason we have been lucky!
Most recent wins over the last 3 weekends. Hope to have more tomorrow night!

They might be trying to get people back to pay for the new buildings and poker room.

I love the new poker room. Non smoking and they have a cool bar and VP as you walk in.

I would take those winnings and get a nice room on Treasure Island for the week, plop myself down in the sand, and enjoy some beverages!

Poof! Back to the reality of Wisconsin winter. :( Damn!

    Have fun tomorrow night, @Sheil813!

I will have to take a look sometime. So it is really non-smoking? Closed off or well ventilated? The ir last no smoking attempt did not go well. You will still smell like an ash tray just walking through the place on a weekend.

Good for you, congratulations! December was kind to me too, I had six VP hand pays there.

It’s been what, over nine years ago since HR opened their Class III casino in Tampa? Since then, they have opened two major additions and are now working on their largest one yet. For the better or worse, this most recent one will bring the greatest change of all. The first thing to open so far, has been the new poker room which has been very well received by its players.

We had visited Vegas fifty times and then turned to the Beau in Biloxi for fifteen visits until MGM wrecked that for us as they did Wynn’s old Mirage Group on the Strip. At this point, we have played the most VP by far at HR. We have done so for a few reasons. The first is that it’s here and we don’t have to fly and the second is that we have done better at HR than we ever did in Vegas. From what I read and observe, HR has better VP than most anywhere other than Reno/Tahoe and the Vegas burbs. A number of other VP regulars have done reasonably well to date but we are holding our breath to see their final product after this last expansion. If we have to walk away from HR because of unacceptable changes, we’ll be done with casinos altogether. In the meantime, let’s enjoy and good luck to us all!

yes we had sworn off the Hard Rock because we had a bad year - now its all forgotten! We will always go to vegas because it is a vacation not just gambling - we use to love renting the tiki's at Hard rock but when they renovated the pool this last time it was terrible - I am anxious to see the changes - we go down to Ft Lauderdale too because we get more free room offers from them!

I find playing VP exciting and entertaining but it can also drive one crazy. The popular notion is that if you play “Perfectly” over a long period of time, you should realize the expected return for the given paytable. In real time though, what seems to happen to me is that I will have a lucky streak for several weeks playing like a rookie and then I play as well as I can and spend the next forty days walking in the desert. We play weekly and we see some machines play better at times on certain games and denominations. We also observe some machines where no one ever seems to hit anything. The folks I have met that enjoy Vegas over many years are those who like you see it as more of a vacation/ tourist spot than a gambling destination. Have you seen the “New Hard Rock” model in the hotel lobby across from the concierge’s desk? The Pool Bar, Rise and much of the north casino will soon be gone as that is where the new hotel tower is going. Grey Salt is gone too after just one year as that is where the hotel café will be relocated. HR seems to be making a number of changes to their master plan as they go. Hollywood may be going downhill some from what we hear lately.
