During my most recent stay in Las Vegas, a couple of locals turned me onto a place called the Thunderbird Lounge. Located halfway between Fremont and the Strip, directly next to the Viva Las Vegas wedding chapel on Las Vegas Blvd. South is the recently renovated Thunderbird Lounge. A hotspot in the 1950's, this property features a motel with a large lounge and relaxing outdoor patio with a firepit. It is definitely a cool place to hang out and get away from the masses of people.
They have a good selection of craft beer, as well as an array of call brands and specialty cocktails. Dani the bartender mixes an awesome mojito as well as any other named concoction known in drinking circles. They also have a kitchen and a respectable chef that offers a good selection of food.
I found this establishment to be a tranquil refuge when the casino atmosphere took its toll. I recommend stopping in and getting a feel for old Las Vegas.
