Following, congrats on the win and happy anniversary!
It's so sad you aren't in Virginia City with the bars opened. There are some really funky places there, but I assume they are closed due to Nevada Covid bar restrictions.
Virginia City (Storey County) wasn't one of the counties the Governor closed the bars down this last go round, so if you're so inclined and time permits it's a nice drive over.
The traffic is still crazy on the side of the roads. Great lunch in Virginia City then the train ride. Nice break from the casinos. Amazing history. Mark Twain lived and worked the newspaper for a short time and changed his name from Clemens. The com stock mines took in over 40 million in THAT period. Billions it would be today. Saw a middle school there which I can’t imagine enough students to support they space in Virginia City. Must be a interesting lifestyle
Took the road thru Virginia city to Reno. Don’t think they know it’s a pandemic. Seriously. No temperature checks. Masks iffy. Lots of nose and chin huggers. Kids galore all over. Popped into some casino started with a g? Now running into Atlantis. We get a good buy for our car rental every time lol
Don't the Harrah's Tahoe rooms have two bathrooms. I don't mind if the rooms are tired if they still look decent and the large windows at Harrah's Lake Tahoe give the landscape justice good luck I am planning on going to Harrah's Lake Tahoe this year so will be following along
@Sueballz can you keep us updated on how the crowds look during the weekdays vs the weekend. I have reservations for 8/3 thru 8/6.
Oh my. The crowds are huge on the weekend and today was maybe 30 percent down. Today we drove around the lake and the only place we were able to get out was the emerald bay overlook. Still there he dropped me off while he stalked a spot to park. I counted 40 people in that outlook and most with no masks. The drive was beautiful as always but so much traffic and cars parked on the side of the rode. The bicycle riders are a brave bunch up here especially on the mountain roads without guard rails. Maybe we are just too old but we said goodbye to the lake up there today. Driving was too intense with people and bikes. Stopped and had coffee in one of those little towns on the north side. Bought quite a few bakery treats which were delicious. We popped in to Tahoe Biltmore. Hilariously small and nope no drink service. Put a dollar in a machine and had a 25 cent bonus that gave me $25 It just wasn’t the type of place that you wanted to spend more in lol. Stopped at the Hyatt as well. They valued parking in the casino so no$10 charge. No cocktail waitresses. The bartender actually was hopping around himself. Fancy glasses and Aquafina water bottles. Casino small but it is so tucked in heaven. Walked around the area and it is nestled amongst the pines and why can’t there ever be a candle that has that Tahoe air smell!!! Drove back to Harrahs and played a little. No pics cause not much happening. My husband got 540 spins on a rhino and cashed out $95. Not so great but entertaining. Went shopping on the main strip for a while. Again crowded but seems a lot of sales and clearance going on. And skunks. yep. Smell the “good stuff” a lot around here. Ate outside at a place tonight by the shopping at Marriott resort. Good simple Mexican and yes it still was odd without a mask on and people walking all over. Played for a few hours before calling it a night. Just filled my envelope with today’s leftovers and somehow am even for the day! I will try and post some pictures
We were in Tahoe the past 4 days, the parking was insane over the weekend, we saw the same as you..cars parked all along the roads everywhere and overlooks and beaches packed with very few masks
Love the pics!
I don't understand why these people aren't wearing masks outside. Don't they know there's a virus?
Congrats on your anniversary and making it back to Tahoe. We were up that way a few weeks back, going again in five weeks. It was a tale of two realities with the lake looking like just another COVID-spreading day in Lauderdale and the places in which we were specifically recreating calm.
@Sueballz Thanks for sharing your Tahoe adventures! Can you tell me if their bars reopened while you were there? Based on this change from the governor on Monday, Stateline bars should be open again.
"Two weeks ago Sisolak placed seven Nevada counties, including Clark County, under phase one restrictions for bars.
Monday, he reduced those mandates to only four counties: Clark, Elko, Nye and Washoe, for one additional week."
I just did a TR from Vegas-Tahoe. You will love it there. I am a huge fan of Tahoe.
Sshhh. Sssshhh. Got a secret. We just walked a magnificent trail that had hardly anyone at all for folks coming here to look for some open space.
Park next to the road on the side of the now closed lakeside inn and walk. The topography changes so much and ends in this!
I think you can also just drive down that road and end up here at the beach. Nice clean restrooms and a campground. I will try to upload the pics. My husband told me he found this on google maps after I told him about it from a old vmb trip reports. So thanks whoever!!!!
