    My Trip Report

well i am 6 days away from my first trip. I read a lot of posts and other trip reports. I simply can't wait, it is certainly going to be a long 6 days. I am going with my brothers and it is the 1st trip down there for any of us.
so does anybody got any words of wisdom for us or anything we have to check out?
judging from past trips reports it seems like it is very hard not to have a good time...my favorite reports were by hurricane mikey, I hope i have half the trip and fun he had..
    cheers

    Hey Derek...

Thanks for the props, bro! [IMG] So tell us, where ya staying? How long you gonna be there? What games you gonna play? What do you have 'tentatively' planned?

I would say for a first timer, you GOTTA see a Bellagio fountain show at night.

See the Fremont Street Experience a couple times while wandering from casino to casino downtown getting beads and riding the Grain Train from Le Bayou.

You gotta collect a couple of the porn flyers that get handed to you on the strip, because they make great reading material for when you're in the can.

Play some blackjack at Binions, and eat a shrimp cocktail at the Golden Gate

Watch your bankroll. Remember that if you're learning a new game, the casinos don't always tell you all the ways to lose, only all the ways you win.

Check out the ceiling at the Venetian.

The rest will just come to you naturally. I'm sure you'll have a blast!

It won't be a long 6 days, believe me.

Advice? Where the most comfortable shoes you have and it doesn't matter what they look like. People aren't looking at your shoes.

My first time out there I was in awe and I can't wait to return to the city that never sleeps.

    Cheers! [IMG]

I couldn't agree more with VegasKathy about wearing comfortable shoes. Tons of walking in Vegas and you'll be extremely happy that you wore comfortable shoes.

Some might disagree with me, but watch your drinking - it's easy to get loaded in Vegas fast, I've had too many trips where I got carried away the first night and was completely miserable the next (read extremely hung over). Didn't enjoy myself at all. Remember it's a marathon and not a sprint. Try to maintain that even buzz... But if you do overindulge drink lots of water before you go to sleep and maybe take either aspirin or ibuprofen (advil). Avoid acetaminophen (tylenol) as your liver is already in a weakened state.

You have to go down the strip at night. It's amazing! Try to go to the Vodoo Lounge at the Rio at night and view the strip from there.

If you're there at the right time, try to catch the Big Elvis show at the Barbary Coast. I think he's there M-F 3-6PM. Check their website.

Take notes so you can write up a trip report when you get back.

    Enjoy

Thank you everyone for your tips and advice
we are leaving Buffalo on monday morning march 17th and returning on friday march 21st. we are staying at the MGM the first 3 nights and the tropicana the last....I really wanted to try and stay downtown one night but maybe next time. I am primarily going to play black Jack and sports betting we'll be there for the first day of the big dance and I got my dancing shoes ready... but will play just about anything. I am learning to play craps..just a novice really, so I won't play too much.. maybe get a feel of it at some of the $1 or $3 tables...there just seems to be so much to do and to see..I know that in 5 days i'm not going to see it all but I'm going to try to see as much as I can..not planning on to much sleep that's for sure. I don't really have a set agenda just gonna go with the flow and see where it takes me..
so anybody got any craps hints for the novice?
    thanks again

    Derek...

Here's a craps hint for ya...

When you have all of your chips on your rack in front of you, make sure you put the white dollar chips on the outside edges. It makes it harder for someone to sneak a hand in there and steal your green or black chips while everyone is looking at the dice at the far end of the table.

It can get very crowded at a craps table, and you want to protect your bankroll.

White chips on the outside--that's all you gotta remember.

Have a great trip, and tell us all about it when you get back.
