Time to cancel my 2 year old one and reapply . 60,000 would put me over the companion pass 110,000 needed. I have all 3 now and companion pass ran out this year

Thanks for the intel. Either there is serious competition among credit cards, or Southwest is getting ready to devalue their miles again.

Just got my lovely wife signed up also. Waiting on approval for mine. It's the "Plus" card, so only $69 annual fee - a great deal for 60K points. Time to close out the "Premier" card accounts....

Can you reapply for the basic card if it has been two years, even if you have existing cards? I have both the business and premier cards currently. Applying for the business card in 2016 got me companion status for 2017, using my existing points and the 50,000 bonus for signup.

yes. and with the 60,000 it is easier to get to 110,000 without extra spend

I have all 3. Going to drop one and reapply in a couple months. Have over 60,000 earned this year from getting the 3rd card. My oldest card is over 2 years old. You can qualify for the bonus 2 years after receiving the bonus on that card.

Have her apply for both at same time. You will get the companion pass good for this year and next year. Can not combine her points with your to get companion. Can only be cards from 1 person. But for $69 and $99 you would get about $3000-4000 worth of SW travel

    some notes:

You need to earn the 110,000 between Jan-Dec of the same year. No carryover. And even that is not exactly Jan 1 - Dec 31 - it is the billing cycles. Be careful.

YOU can have multiple cards, including business cards and combine.

You can not combine another person, even your spouse to reach the 110,000

I applied yesterday and was declined due to the 5/24 rule. Tried to convert my Premier card to the Plus but they wouldn't go for it. Too bad.

Even though I have the Business Premiere and regular premiere, I applied for the basic $69 card with a 60,000 mile bonus. I haven't had one of those in about 5 years. Anyway, on line application came back and said we have to look into this further. Your card might arrive in 30 days. An extra 60k would get me companion for another year. I'm hoping.

I made up a business name with the IRS. I received a TIN (taxpayer identification number) and used that number to apply for a SWA Business Card. I still used my home address and land line. It got me 50,000 miles and using my existing miles it got me a companion pass for all of 2017.

Don't forget to cancel the card after 10 months. Save on next years annual fee. And no, it doesn't effect my credit score.

When I got the SW Business Card two years ago (to get enough points for the Companion Pass) I didn't bother to do anything formal business-wise. I just said my business was a sole proprietorship and it was me dba my business name. All they look at is your FICO score and what you estimate your business revenue will be. If you have a strong credit score and give a nice number for your business (I think I said something like $130,000), you'll get the card.

My business card is still active so right now for April-July for every $800 you charge per month, they award me an extra 700 miles. Not a huge deal, but it still all ends up in my RR account. My Business card expires in November and I will cancel it before then.

I got the same message, just like the last time I applied for the premiere card. Didn't hear back from them for awhile on that - but one day the new account info just showed up on my Chase home page. Card arrived in the mail a week later....
