Looking at playing this game at Cal on my next trip but want to learn strategy deviations from JOB/BP. The two main ones I know of are:

    1. If dealt 2 pair and one pair is aces, only hold aces, and
    2. Hold 4 to gutshot straight if nothing better.

    Anything else? TIA.

There are a few others I would keep in mind plus what you listed.

Break Aces full. (You probably knew that.)

Hold inside straight with two high cards vs. two offsuit high cards.

An open-ended straight flush draw is better than a straight.

An open-ended straight draw is with least one high card is better than a low pair.

These adjustments plus the ones you previously mentioned will get you pretty close to optimal basic strategy.

Tring hit on all the main ones. If you want to add an easy nit picky one, which will also lower your variance very slightly, KTs is not a hold in this game.

What I like about the game is it is the one game that rewards straight flushes nicely, 400 coins. What I don't like about the game is the variance is much higher than double bonus. Be prepared for some very disastrous days playing this!

Lastly, since this isn't a popular game, people don't look for it, so you might be able to find a machine that isn't on people's radar.

My number one piect of advice when playing this game, and really all VP games:

    Get a dealt Royal

Sadly, I've never been able to follow my own advice, but next time, right?
