Aliante is one of those places I've been wanting to go to, but never have.

Enjoying the report, glad that text from your wife wasn't serious!

Great read. Thanks. And be thankful for friends that can co-exist on trips to vegas....I’ve tried but the talk doesn’t walk when we get there. Hang on to those guys.

The room was more, um, decorated than I had expected.

I don't know why, but Victorian Whorehouse comes to mind as the style.[/QUOTE]

Thanks so much for articulating my Cromwell room impression = Victorian Cathouse nails it. Happy that you had a street view, instead of one that was of the inside of the parking garage.

Great report! And nice break with the TITO at the Cal! Doesn't happen often, but it's another reason to play with a player's card.

And i know he probably meant well, but If I was a dealer, I probably wouldn't have said anything about the cash game high hand jackpots...Ugh.

Hope you and your wife are able to go in April!

Great report. I have always loved the way you write. By the way Tuesday morning I went to South point to gamble the last few hours of the trip. Played ten play for .50 cents hit a royal. Ended down $300 for the trip. Thanks for everything.

I've never had problems in 30ish trips to Vegas or 10 to Reno. Nine of the 10 trips to Reno and three times in Vegas were for bowling, so despite it being a long vacation, all of us bowlers are really there for bowling and bowling-related activity, so getting along isn't a problem. Also, if you count this Super Bowl trip as a poker-ish trip, we've now done it 11 times. Some of the guys have done it once or twice and fall out on their own, but the core group remains.

As a bit of an aside, the biggest trip issue I've ever really encountered was about ten years ago when the bowling tournament was in Baton Rouge, LA. For numerous reasons, only a few guys in my regular group were with me for this tournament so we had a bunch of guys we didn't know well. I had planned my entire trip around Mardi Gras that year, and on the Monday before I had convinced many of them to join me in the French Quarter. One of the guys was in a pissy mood because he had been playing poker all night in Baton Rouge and had gotten killed, and he wasn't crazy about driving an hour to not play poker or bowl. This guy's wife was hanging close to me and my wife and she was really geeking out on it. All Scott (different Scott... not my Poker Trip Scott) cared about was getting some food, but he had no interest in local fare at Mardi Gras-level pricing, so he started taking it out on her. I mean really nasty complaining and calling her names and being a real asshole.

Finally, he and one of the other guys kinda moved ahead of us on a hunt for food, leaving his wife with me and mine... and me worried about being in the middle of their thing and wondering what the bowling would be like a few days later. Very shortly after, however, I see her setting her purse on the ground, then unzipping her jacket, then taking off her... well, she got a nice feather boa for the display, I got an eye full, my wife gave me a pass for staring, and I also got a wink and a smile from my buddy's wife with a "I hope you enjoyed that. Fuck him".

We bowl in Baton Rouge in 2025. They are divorced now, but Shelby may get the invite...
