Staying at the Suncoast for a work trip this fall. I've stayed all over vegas but never in this side of town. I know i'm near the Red Rock. Theres the WAX to downtown.. used to be a shuttle from the aiport? And no mentions of the $20 trick i could find.. is it even worth trying? Thanks for all your help.

 Suncoast is a locals casino. never stayed there but gambled there many times. always had a good time there. used to be nice shopping/eating area across the street. Red Rock casino and new shopping center by RRC. u don't say anything about how long u are staying, gender, age, etc. mostly retired older locals.(i fit in) imho $20 won't work but it never hurts to try. u can see all room types on their website. have fun and good luck.

Maybe once a year we stay and have used the $20 trick for a nice mini suite with a golf course view. Otherwise, when booking through a host, they'll usually honor my request for a golf course view in a regular room and the regular rooms are nice.

Very nice pool if it is still open in fall when you are staying there.

We really like the Steakhouse. Not cheap, but very good.

Airport shuttle gone. But, you seem aware of WAX. You can also do that from the airport. $2.

If you need to kill time, movie theatre and bowling alley.

Cheap hot dog cart outside the sportsbook on NFL weekends.

Angel Park golf course is across the street and walkable from the hotel. They have a 12-13 hole par 3 course that is quite walkable and I think the club rental is ~$15. Every hole is supposed to represent a par 3 hole on the PGA tour.

There is also a paved walking path that starts just outside the parking lot which can make for a nice morning walk.

Gordon Biersch brewpub is also walkable

It is a locals place. When we lived there it was destination #2 behind MSS.

We are staying there Thanksgiving and Friday, before moving to MSS/Cal

Rampart Casino is "next door" but a little hike. Nothing I would go out of my way for.

Because you mentioned the WAX, I'm assuming you won't have a car, but if you do, I know some decent places in that area, just not walkable.

I don't know about the difference in rooms. Mine was just the regular cheap room they discount like crazy for Power Bingo, but the view of the golf course and the mountains in the background is my most favourite view in Vegas. It was so pretty. It was a couple years ago and my pictures file is a mess but I'm 99.9% sure this was it. My room was clean and nice, so nothing I'd complain about. I like my Cosmo views, but I am suck a sucker for those mountains. 20160522_163153.jpg 20160522_163157.jpg

The problem with the golf course view is they run the lawn mowers around at 5am....

We are headed there in October. I just wanted to try a different casino and had comped nights, so I chose Suncoast. We like the locals casinos as we are not big strip players. Thanks for starting this thread!

We just got back from a week at the Suncoast. Very pleased with the place. Spectacular views, great pool area with cabanasuou DON’T have to rent, including jacuzzi, great casino, and, of course, Du-Pars.

We have stayed there the last 5 years 3x a year and always get the golf view/pool view and have never heard lawnmowers. Suncoast does have central air in there rooms which is nice and quiet compared with the window units at other properties. Good dining options, keep checking the kiosks for free meals earned. Steakhouse has a very good prime rib special all included plus dessert for $34, says its 10oz but is more like 16oz. Same deal can be obtained old point system 1500 pts in a day, new system 300 tier points.

Most restaurants there are good. Lots of people like pancakes at dupars.

    For a change of scenery:
Try Echo and Rig at Tivoli village.
Actually, go there even if you are not staying at the Suncoast.

Sun Coast is the nicest property of Boyd in Vegas.
Rooms are fine, restaurants are good.
But the clients are local, very local just as @DESPERADO said above.
