We've been on the fence this year between Vegas (4th time) or an all inclusive in Cancun (2nd time)

Last night, I get an email from MB / Delano about lower rates; so I go check it out

6 nights / 7 days for the week we want to go went down from $960 ish to about $620 (before taxes, resort fees and all that happy horse @#[email protected])

Not that $340 is any kind of OMG THIS IS SUCH AN AMAZING DEAL - god knows, Cancun was going to cost much much more - but, seriously? We're going to go to vegas for a 4th time and stay at MB for a 4th time?

I was loving Cosmo's balcony suites; I thought, how cool would it be to just sit on the balcony with a drink and watch the fountains / people, etc... But we constantly circle back to MB cause of the pools - the lazy river; the wave pool; the fact it's the only hotel with sand by the pool. The walk to other casinos / drive never bothers me - if nothing else, I love that MB doesn't get much foot traffic and is a bit more quite - we generally land around 930am and we've never not been able to check in early (just, another perk)

Just... wtf - this may be our last trip for a while (she want to try to have a kid this year) and we're gonna stay at the same hotel, again?

Plus side - she caved to me renting a convertible so long as we spend a day going to old LV or Red Rock or something not strip related. So long as we can drive with the top down (shes a red head and burns easily) ok.

    </rant> </sooooooo indecisive>

I've been staying at MB/THEhotel/Delano for 14 years. 6 out of 8 trips just last year alone. (I moonlight over at Bellagio and Cosmo) You listed the benefits, and I totally get that it doesn't get the foot traffic looky loos. I need that sense of "calm". You can BREATHE there. My reasons for staying are more Host related, slot tournament related, as I play with a lot of the same people in the last decade plus. HOWEVER, Cancun and Vegas are two totally different trips for me. If I'm not gambling, Cancun does it for me. If I'm gambling, I'm flying to Vegas.

IMHO I would do Cancun. Make it a last hurrah before parenthood. Vegas is generally easier to get to and conducive to long weekends. Once the crumb crunchers arrive travel becomes less frequent and more of a PIA!

I think I'd choose Cancun. I was down there in Dec for 5 days, my first time, and loved it.

So... Vegas / MB it is.

    My logic -
While Cancun was fun, it's basically 6 days of becoming a degenerate alcoholic - which is fun for sure, but not very productive or good for my body
In retrospect, the food was really kinda meh... Steak undercooked or barely seasoned, Italian was a joke - the only thing we remember that stood out to be good was breakfast.
When we would go - 4th of July week - was just to damn hot. While May in Vegas is hot (high 80s), we find the dry heat more tolerable. Even I burned (twice) in Cancun and I never burn.

Round Trip using 3/4 SW points (was short 13000 points) non-stop; Convertible car rental (mustang or equivalent) and 6 nights at MB King suite - We're about $1400 in so compared to Cancun (which would of run $4500 after points) that leaves me with $3000 for food, shopping, shows, etc...

In other words - I know 100% what to expect from LV - food, shows, pools, weather - if it's our last, I want to enjoy it.

If the year goes how I think it'll go and I can drop one of 2 of my jobs come summer time; we can go later in the year to Cancun if she's not pregnant.
