Not seen a poll for this yet.

Ok I love the Strip but I am being increasingly drawn to Off Strip properties. Service is so friendly with better odds and better value all around.

I am not cheap by any means but I feel like the better value is Off Strip. Cannot believe how much I enjoyed Palm's Place and Sam's Town last time compared to our usual 'Strip stays'.

I also like to get away from the manic Mid Strip i.e around Harrahs etc and prefer the area around Mandalay Bay/Luxor/Excalibur much more If I am staying on The Strip.

I'm a stripper myself.... wait, that doesn't sound right. Let me try again...

I'm not much for going off strip. I prefer to be where everything is. There, that's better.

Off strip. I'm a point that no matter where I travel, being able to rest and relax is imperative and that's easier off strip away from all the lights. Of course I appreciate the better values, especially on food but I also like the service better. as the friendliness is more genuine and business is more appreciated. For slots, the machines are looser and because I started gambling on riverboats, all those little daily promotions are completely up my alley.

I did use to love the strip and I get that you give up some pretty spectacular room options not staying there. But I can't stand the all the copycat moves. Until more properties are more interested in being the innovator and not the imitator, I don't see much happening there worth my time.

I usually end up staying near where my friends stay on my trips. That said, I am less and less enamored with The Strip and all their fees and crappy gaming. If you can swing an off-Strip trip, try it and see how you like it.

Stay off Strip, visit it for a walk around and (maybe) some lousy paytables ..... ;)

Downtown. I hardly ever stay on the strip the past few years, esp with paid parking. At least I don't have to worry about paying for parking downtown, most hotels parking is free for guests.

Tuscany is my go to place these days, just a short walk from the Strip. Great rooms and a nice casino. Also very reasonably priced..

Strip. Only the Strip. We've stayed Downtown, we've stayed off-Strip. Sorry, but that's just like visiting Cleveland, with slot machines. And really, I get the bends if I go South of City Center. So Las Vegas Boulevard it is, for good or ill.

For the past few years, I've been splitting each stay with 2 or 3 nights at Cosmo and 2 or 3 nights at Palms.

Strip, off-Strip, downtown ... just move things around and try it all. Life's too short.

Travel isn't a a game of zero-sum or prisoners' dilemma. Basing a stay decision on "better" odds when most folks play slots or seat-of-the-pants VP or BJ? Flying thousands of miles and taking some grand moral stand over a fee? Spending an hour on a bus to save a few bucks?

    It's vacation. It's life.

This is a hot button issue. To many the Vegas IS the strip. And it's certainly one of a kind, nowhere else in the world like it. When I took my son last year for his first Vegas trip after he turned 21 we stayed on the strip. When I took my girlfriend for her first ever Vegas trip in 2013 we stayed on the strip. But otherwise I've been strictly off strip for a long time. We'll head to the strip for a show or a meal but otherwise we love staying off strip. There are a number of great properties, we've stayed at Red Rock, GVR, Palms, Rio. We rent a car, don't have to pay parking and can always park close. We do a lot of excursions around the area and not having to deal getting to/from the strip is great. We like to eat at non casino restaurants. And while the table minimums on the strip aren't really a concern of mine I do like that I can drop down to $5 at the off strip places if my luck is running bad. I don't play machines but those who do are giving up cash by playing slots on the strip. I've stayed downtown a few times too but quite frankly I don't like downtown anymore.

Strip no longer appeals to me at all. Sure, I still go every now and then - if a first-timer is with me, or to attend a show...or meet up for a high-end meal... but for routine gambling? Nope. Not for years.
Last time I actually stayed on the Strip? About 12 years ago.

I love staying on the strip - architecture like no where else! But i had so much fun hitting off strip casinos with my serious gambling friends. I loved Red Rock! Basically i want to keep it top shelf, so the strip is for me I guess, even with the crap pay tables etc.

Definitely strip for me.... we haven't stayed any where else...not really interested staying downtown. But perhaps one day we will give it shot.

Off strip for value and the feel of the old Vegas even though I can afford the Strip Joints.
One example the guys from Cheapo Vegas wrote about often is Jokers Wild in Henderson. http://www.jokerswildcasino.com/

Check out he breakfast of this locals place. Kinda like The Rat pack days.

I have gravitated away from the Strip, though no matter where I stay I go there for the energy at night a couple times.

My first trip was nearly forty years ago, Stardust, and I just can't rage it like I used to but if I stay on the Strip I still tend to try. :drunk: Pavlovian pattern I suspect. Neon, slot machines, nothing closes....must play and drink ! D'OH. Bad AM results, guess I have no self control where neon is present.

We now only stay on the Strip, Flamingo, if we are hitting a show at the Brooklyn Bowl. There is something so satisfying about hitting it hard there, walking a half a block to the hotel, pushing the elevator button, being in the shower with room service on the way in a half hour or so.

    Sooooooo decadent.

We've moved around..it was strip in my early 20's, then downtown, then off strip, now we're back to the strip (cosmo specifically)
For me, if I want a locals vibe, I'll go to Reno instead.
