I'm stealing this quote from the "What's Your New Craze" thread. Sorry for singling you out, EastCoast. :)

I've seen a lot of people saying that one of the hard things about this quarantine is not being able to go to the gym. I have my own exercise routine that I call Yoga-lates. It's a combination of yoga, Pilates with some hand weights and ball exercises. I also have a recumbent exercise bike, but I hate it.

My husband was concerned about keeping fit during the winter, without his mountain bike club group rides in the yucky months. I got a website from my physical therapist that had this fantastic interface. You could select the time, intensity, types of exercise, etc and then it would create a workout for you. Of course, now that I want this information, I can't find it and Dan doesn't even remember me giving him the URL. :rolleyes2:

I sent her an email to see if she could tell me again, but I thought I'd throw it out here and see if anyone had suggestions.

How you are staying fit and exercising while stuck at home with no gym access?

I’m trying to keep my daily steps up, but the weather has been gross and I’m more of a commuter-walker, so walking just to walk is a bit harder for me. Plus the panhandling has already been more aggressive so I’m not sure i want to be outside all that much.

I intend to start this really tough yoga dvd I have again. When i was doing it regularly I would be drenched by the end of it. I don’t look forward to doing it with my family home - I’m a solo workout person - but it’s better than tightening up and gaining weight.

Probably more ab work too. I hate working abs but i have no excuse now!

By the end of this I won’t be able to outrun a turtle, but I might have abs lol

Comped at Delano - not sure what I did right!
Planet Ho - best deal on a busy week, then rooming with friends :)

It depends on what kind of workout personality you have. Me, I need to be pushed, I need structure in a group fitness class. Some people can go out and run solo. Give this a shot, it’s a really simple tutorial and not very intense . https://m.youtube.com/channel/UC2mPx7FrMwWJ1utQEOX9z9w

I have an elliptical that I use almost daily. Now that it's warming up I'll be walking again. I was going to Planet Fitness twice a week to do some weight machines, but that has been put on hold.

Yes, the no gym thing has been quite a challenge!

The weather has been decent here so after I log off from work, my mom and I will go for a nice long walk. If I wanted to also do some running afterwards, there is a field with a track in our neighborhood, so I'll go there to do some exercises afterwards. I also have some weights and kettlebells at home to work with. There are a couple fitness clubs that have sent out fitness guides or videos which has been nice too.

My gym doesnt want to lose all its members so they are providing online access to some vodeo workouts. If my own fail i may try that.

In The meantime its mainly body weight exercises. For legs anyway. I can do some resistance stuff for upper body, and pretend distilled water bottles are kettlebells.

My back is bad regardless, so even in the gym i have many body weight leg things like single leg romanian deadlifts and bulgarian split squats. Then theres some goblet squats, push ups, and whatever else i can cobble together for the upper body.

i suppose i could do pull ups on the beam in the basement ...

This just showed up for the minions.
Their old one ended up under a tree during July's big storm.

We recently put the b-ball hoop out since the driveway was drying out a little.

We'll have the bikes out soon, too! :D

I'm turning into a couch potato. LOL I'm actually not into joining any gym or fitness center so most of my exercise comes from walking long distances, especially as I've gotten older. Needless to say, I can't just pace back and forth all day in my condo. LOL Back in my younger days, I use to get a lot of exercise mountain biking, but my body and joints can't take all of that pounding like it use too.

Although, I've been doing my usual indoor exercise routine that I often do during the winter when the weather is too bad to go outside. Several years ago, I bought a portable stepper, since I didn't want to invest in one of those full size eliptical machines that takes up a lot of space. It works pretty good and also has those elastic bands for upper body exercise too. Although if you're a big person, it only has a weight capacity of 250 lbs. I'm only about 150, so it works fine for me.

One of my friends and his wife has a couple of these... Simply Fit Board and they say it actually works. I remember seeing this on an episode of Shark's Tank awhile back, but was always sorta skeptical on whether it was all hype or if it really worked as advertised.

This gym thing being closed is killing me. It's brutal outside, the wind is howling and we had snow last night. My house is small so no room for any equipment. It's been horrible. My daughter suggested Beachbody and using a trial subscription.

However, with Amazon Prime and your smart TV you can watch exercise videos on your TV. I tried a 'beginner', yeah right, one today and man, I do not have any sense of rhythm. Beginners?? LMAO. I tried a 2nd one, yoga, and that wasn't too bad. It's a 30-day one so you take what you learn one day and use the next. I may try it again tomorrow or look for something else. I thought I had one of those huge balls to workout on, but the only thing I found was the pump. Grrrr.....

I, for one, cannot wait for my gym to re-open. I'm my own worst enemy and can sit around and graze. I HATE being stuck at home (I live alone...well, I have 2 cats). My knees are getting sore from sitting around. I NEED to find something that works, or I'll have gained 20 lbs by month's end. :( :(:cuss:

I have a bunch of dumbbells, a bowflex, and some resistance bands. I supplement the usual workouts with push ups or chin ups when I can. And I have a great trail about 1/2 mile from my house. So I average about 6-7 miles of walking each day (my back and knees have made running a no-go :grrr:).

So, fortunately, my workouts are the one thing that the virus hasn’t disrupted. Heck, I’m actually hoping to drop a few pounds during the period of social distancing since I try not to keep junk food around the house and I won’t have as many opportunities to raid my friend’s and family’s fridges. :evillaugh:

I've been jogging. We used to do the gym in NJ before we moved to Henderson, but we live in Inspirada and besides the not great but still on the expensive side gym right near us it's at least 20 minutes to a good gym. So we just got a Peloton, it was delivered on Monday. So far we are liking it.

Figured I wasn't going to jog as summer heat comes around and needed something indoors.

So parks are still open and I'm still going out to parks. We have one by our house. Yoga: Start my morning in downward dog. I have started running, and I'm meeting my personal trainer virtually.
I will not let Corona ruin my workout journey. I have lost 20 lbs since last October, need at least 30 more.

I'm thinking about camping my car this weekend and going hiking over by Crater Lake just to clear my head and have some normalcy. I could use this. Corona is nonstop all day every day at work and frankly I'm just sick of the dings in my phone updating news and the barrage of emails from work. I want to go to a place my phone cannot be in range for a few hours.

If I go and I can find the time to get out, I'll post a trip report.

Love you all, stay safe. If you are older or immuno-comprimised. Please listen to your kids, except if they are under 25 and live in Florida.
